I'm going to try again (for like the 1,000th time) to lose the 40 lbs I desperately need to lose. This time, I'm doing a no-diet diet where you can eat whatever you want as long as you stay below 1,500 calories per day. I'm also going to try and exercise more, which I know will help.

So far this week---

Sunday
Peanut butter on wheat--340 calories
Popcorn (1 cup,lightly salted, no butter,airpopped)--0 calories
Cheerios (1 cup, no milk)--110 calories
Cheesy Mac (1 portion)--340 calories
Total for Sunday: 790
+30 Min walking

Monday
Wheat toast w/fakie butter and light jelly (2 slices)--340 calories
Salad w/light turkey, light cheese and light dressing +1 apple--340 calories
Cheerios (1/2 cup, no milk)--55 calories
1 hotdog on wheat w/chips--330
Total for Monday: 1065

Tuesday
Wheat toast w/fakie butter and light jelly (2 slices) + Cinnamon Applesauce (1/2 cup)--430
Salad w/light turkey,light cheese and light dressing + 1 slice garlic toast+vanilla pudding cup w/whipped cream--530 calories
Cheerios (2 cups, no milk)+1 cup cinnamon applesauce--300 calories
Total for Tuesday:1260
+20 Min Walking

Wednesday
Cheerios (1/2 cup)+Cinnamon Applesauce (1/2 cup)--145 calories
Salad w/lite turkey, light cheese and light dressing+roll+jello--340 calories
Subway Tuna Sub on Wheat w/light mayo (6 inch)+ Baked Lays +24 oz Dr.Pepper--1010
Total for Wednesday:1595

Ok..so I went over today but that was because I chose to eat a roll at lunch and had Subway for dinner. But I did choose a rather healthy meal at Subway, I thought. I had NO idea there were so many calories in the Tuna Sub..It was just the tuna on wheat w/lettuce,tomatoes,pickles and jalapenos with a smidgen (and I mean barely ANY) lite mayo.

I've been drinking water all week long and I'm going to try and fit some exercise in tonight. I've found that if I break it up in to 10 min blocks, it's easier for me than if I'd tried to do all 30 min at once.

My goal is to lose 40 lbs by the time DS's second birthday rolls around in April.

So...starting weight is 175. Goal weight is 135. :) I know that if I just keep a food journal (which I've been doing religiously) and keep walking, eventually it will all come off.

WISH me luck. :)

Thanks guys. I did well this morning, too. Half a cup of Cheerios (no milk) and a half cup of cinnamon applesauce. I've also started taking a B12 complex vitamen to sort of help boost my energy. For lunch, I had a chicken sandwich (they're baked int he oven, not fried and we have wheat buns) with an apple. My snack was 8 oz of orange juice and I've done 20 min of walking today. It seems to go by SO much quicker when I break it up into short blocks of 10 min each.

I want this to work so badly. Do you think it would be wrong to ask for small handweights (like 5 or 8 lbs each) and an exercise ball for Christmas? o.O

TOV

I think it's a great plan - sort of like WW (only there's is points instead of cals). You're off to a strong start!
:)

Hi TOV-

I'm pretty new here too. I like the concept of your diet. Looks like you are doing great with it!

I have a DH who temps me as well. Not that he is unsupportive exactly. I think its a confidence thing for him. If I lose weight then somehow I might not want him anymore. :confused3

Anyway, I think your idea of getting weights for xmas is a good one. I asked for (and got) a yoga mat for my birthday. :)

TOV, welcome to the WISH Journal board!

I think asking for exercise stuff for Christmas is a great idea!

Hang in there and keep up the food journalling. You also may want to write down how you're feeling and/or why you're eating. Are you eating out of hunger, boredom, sadness, frustration, anger, etc. I know when I blow it, 99% of the time it's emotional eating that gets me.

You can do this! If hubby is tempting you too much, take the food, thank him and then throw it in the trash when he isn't looking! ;)

Today was one of those emotional eating days, I know. I'd barely had any breakfast, so by the time lunch rolled around, I was STARVING and ate whatever looked best instead of what was best for me. I ended up having a pork riblet sandwich on wheat with broccoli (steamed) and 3 potato wedges (which are kind of like the hashbrowns you get at McDonalds, only baked in the oven instead of fried).

Then...Candycane (one of our janitors)said they were having pizza in the teacher's lounge and brought an entire pizza for the kitchen staff (3/4 of which is now residing in my oven, waiting for me to eat it). :(

So today I'm going to totally blow it. I basically HAVE to eat the pizza because we can't go to the store until tomorrow and we have NOTHING (except ramen and some canned fruit)left. :(

One of the things I need to work on I know is emotional eating. I tend to eat more when I'm bored or upset, so I've got to find ways to distract myself from doing that.

Exercise stuff for Christmas is a great idea!!

I'm sorry you had one of those days. Was that eating craziness Better or Worse than pre-WISH? Take every little victory you can-you're doing GREAT!!

I've been through that no-food-but-junk-food in the house stuff - no fun! Sometimes the paycheck just doesn't last until the next one comes and you have to make due with what you have. At least you had some pizza to tide you over - far better than not eating at all, in my opinion. ::yes::

Just do what you can and it will be good enough. Hey, at least you ate some broccoli, right?? That's more than I would've done - I have this aversion to green veggies. :p

Well, yesterday and today was REALLY bad. I had pizza last night for dinner, nearly 1000 calories in the 4 slices I consumed.

Then today, while I did good on breakfast (canned pears with cinnamon) and lunch (organic peanut butter on wheat bread), I totally flutzed up dinner by having pizza again (DH's choice, frozen grocery store kind). :(

Oh well..that's alright. Tomorrow's a NEW week and I can start over. I just have to remember to watch what I'm eating, document the # of calories per meal and exercise.

Sunday I did just ok..I had 4 Oreos (bad)but I made up for it by walking for 45 minutes while watching When Harry Met Sally[/ui] (good).

Today I was REALLY bad. Breakfast was a left over quesadilla from yesterday and a banana. Lunch was bbq beef on wheat bread with fruit salad, iced tea and a ittybitty piece of banana-coconut bread. So I didn't do as badly as I could have.

Dinner was a hamburger (no sauces, no bun) and rice-a-roni (really bad, I know, but I only had a little bit).

I didn't get to exercise today because I'm working on a green dress similar to the one Arwen wears in LOTR for Halloween. I didn't plan on spending 4 hrs tracing and cutting. I was surprised when I looked up and realized it was almost 6:00 pm. Yikes. I will try to get some exercise in tomorrow once I get home from work. I know I've got to keep that up if I'm going to lose the weight, as well as really watch what I eat (which is the hardest part for me).

TOV

Hang in there, TOV!

When I'm having a really tough time, I pick one healthy breakfast and eat it every day for a week. Lately, I've been having yogurt with walnuts mixed in, so I use a different flavor yogurt each day and some days I'll have almonds instead of walnuts.

Since I'm having the same thing, I just go to the store and stock up for the week. Then I don't have to wonder what I'll be having for that one meal of the day.

Boring? Sometimes, but it takes the guesswork out of that one meal and I have a week's worth ready to go.

Hope today is a good one!

Hi and Welcome to WISH

You have a good plan started and this is a great place for the support to keep it going.

My DH does not want to join me in my journey, but I have managed to do it alone (with the help of WISH) for a few months. It is hard specially when we wants cookies and candy and ice cream all the time! But it will get easier.

Keep up the good work and remember you can do this!

I think the key for me, as far as sweets go, is portion control. Like, I can have 2 Oreos (the portion listed on the pkgs) and that's ok for me now. If I want something salty, I can have airpopped popcorn (zero calories) with 'lite' salt and it's alright. I can eat a TON of it because it's full of fiber and has NO calories. :cloud9:

I did really good today. Breakfast was yogurt and a banana. Lunch was steak fingers and jello (with gravy on the side,so I didn't use that much of it). Dinner was a 'diet' hotdog on wheat with 'diet' chips and a drink that was half fruit punch/half water. I also managed to squeeze in 30 min of exercise while watching 'The Biggest Loser" on TV tonight,so it's all good. I got hungry and wanted a salty/sweet combination so I mixed honey-nut cheerios (110 calories for half a cup,w hich is a LOT of cheerios believe me) and airpopped popcorn. Delicious! :teeth:

TOV

YAY for a good day!! Keep it up TOV!! :Pinkbounc

You are going on the right track. And some of that stuff that you said isn't good, is actually fine as long as you watch your portions. I eat Lipton Rice for dinners quite a bit. However, I also try to have salad or a veggie to help counteract the hunger and help fill me. That way I can break the serving size in half of the rice and still be full. You'll learn what works for you eventually. Took me a while to do that.

Good luck and hang in there. You're doing well!!!!!

Keep on
Chris
