Hope everyone had a great Halloween. I know we went through a ton of candy! I ran out to get more cuz I was running out and there were still lots of kids running around. It was the first time I had passed out candy at my own house so I had no Idea how much to get but had I think 7 huge bags. I usually go out to Mom's to see he boys and pass out candy there but Kevin took a half day and didn't go in til 11 'cause he wanted to carve pumpkins and pass out candy at home since there are a ton of kids around here. It was pretty neat 'cause we got so many compliments on Dillon (my furbaby!) and our pumpkins (we had 3, not quite equal to Mom's 6 but we were happy w/ them and the kids around here LOVED them.
O.K., I'm gonna shut up and nap a while 'cause I'm about to fall asleep typing. Ya'll have a great day tomorow! Talk to ya'll soon!

Debbie, wish I'd seen you post before I went to bed about the cough. Try a cough suppresant called Delsym. ...it's an OTC liquid, DD's pediatrician recommended it once when she was younger and had a lingering nightime cough....it seemed like a miracle to us at the time and we always keep some on hand even now.

I'm off to work...my stomache is in knots...be back later!

Debbie--keepright on popping the top on those Fosters for these big, virile men, who love to show us little helpless women how strong they are by flexing those big, burly muscles while they lift heavy things (like furniture). We're gonna need them in a very few days.

Mike is gone to Salem MA today with his English class, you know thats....what...an hour away from me......maybe a bit more and I have never gone there

Well. that was a futile effort at work I dumped my issue on our manager - who dislikes confrontation more than I do, and told her if she didn't address it, I would. Thought it was more appropriate for her to make my point to the person than for me to, since I don't directly supervise the person in question. So we'll see. I do feel better having gotten it off my chest.

We only had 160 beggars last night. In years past we've had as many as 300. We were prepared for 270, so we have a lot of leftover juice boxes. Our kids don't mind that at all.

DS James decided that he was too old to go trick-or-treating this year. There were plenty of high schoolers doing the trick-or-treat thingie, but not our 9th grader.

Sarah had a great time. She and her friends dressed as ring wraiths (from Lord of the Rings). I was a bit concerned as she was dressed in black from head to toe. We made her carry a flashlight and a white canvas bag for her treats just so she wouldn't be completely invisible. She had three friends come over (all dressed similarly) so that they could hit our neighborhood as a group.

Woke up this morning to find one tree TP'ed. I'm sure that the wind and rain will take care of it.

well, as i suspected...we had no trick or treaters...i don't know if the apartment complex has a policy against it or if the kids just hit the local housing additions...but that was fine by me! once we start having our little ones, then i'll get into the halloween spirit, but until then, i'll remain a big chicken and stay behind my locked doors...

i'm really hoping that the situation with my ex-husband goes away quietly..but i'm afraid it won't. the divorce itself was very quiet and uneventful...i'm praying that nothing messy begins to happen...

ann..you were rubbing off on me!! i so wanted to play hookey from work today. i just couldn't convince hubby to call me in. oh well...at least the day is almost done.

hope everyone has a good weekend! i get to take down all of the halloween decorations and begin puttin gup christmas stuff!! this is my favorite time of year. i hate having just a month to look at my decorations so i want to put stuff up early...i know, i'm crazy...but it puts me in such a festive and good mood! matthew thinks i'm insane for wanting to put the tree up so early. i guess we'll see if it really goes up...

it's almost moving day for us...is everyone packed and ready?

I just didn't feel like posting yesterday....actually still don't

first Mike bumped the front of his car....into a tree not really a big deal.... its his car to get him where he needs to go but...but to him its his prize possession...he takes great care of it, so he is feeling really upset about it, and

I had to take Jerry in for minor surgery....I said minor so don't you all worry. Its just that the doctor was running behind and we had to sit and wait 2 hours before Jerry even got called in.

And My eldest son, Jason, from my first marriage, just came to tell us his grandfather has cancer My X in laws are the best grandparents any child could have ever been fortunate to have and I love them for that. Jason is very close to them. They were the type that went to EVERY sporting event to cheer their grandson and every other special event, they never missed a thing. They have been the kind of grandparents that I look forward to being. This is just so sad And next week they are suppose to be going on a carribean cruise that all their grandchildren bought for them for their 50th wedding anniversary. I don't have much detail yet except that the tumor is between the prostate and the bladder with several other lesions around it. They were told to go ahead and cruise and they could deal with it when they return which Jason takes as a sign of hope.

Hope everyone is having a great wekend. I know I am, I've been dying for a new computer. Ours locked up constantly, or wouldn't reboot right when restarted, was way too slow w/ the noisiest harddrive ever (thank God I don't use dial-up!), and wouldn't let me upgrade any of my software due to lack of RAM. Can you tell I was really fed up w/ that machine? This is so much nicer, my pc can keep up w/ my internet connection now and I don't lock it up everytime I open an extra window!
Well, I'm off- gotta finish instaling stuff and I'm hungry so it's snack time! (something other than the Halloween candy I keep nibbling on) Goodnight!

So sorry about Jason's grandfather. I hope that all is well with Jerry.

And a little PD for Mike.

We have some bright news from here in Florida today. On Friday, they took my Dad off of Diprivan. He is awake after all of these weeks......We stayed in Gainesville on Friday night and came back yesterday. The attending Dr. told us that nothing ever has grown on cultures, so he probably did have a flu (viral thingie) and it attacked his lungs....Dr. Kitchens said that they can not explain why he has turned around and started to improve. He said that prayer must have had a lot to do with it. I believe this so much. SO thanks for all of your prayers....They seem to be working.

It is so nice to be able to talk to him after these awful weeks. At this point, he does not even remember me taking him to the doctor or Savannah and I being at his house the day before. He attempted to write on a pad yesterday, but was just too weak. SO we ask him tons of questions and he nods....Friday night when we walked in the ICU and into his room, he raised his hand to wave....I can not tell you the emotion that I felt.

The hope for this week is removal from the vent....They are weaning him down over the past few days. THis is our #1 goal at this point...

Well, I just wanted to say hi to all of my pals here......

I have not ditched anyone. I've been too busy packing to post!

No really--Friday, as soon as I got home, I ahd to get ready to go to the awards banquet..after some serious problems with Mike leaving early and picking up the boys at school and NOT telling me and me waiting for them at the bus stop and then going into a major panic, not knowing where they were. And, of course, the ensuing fireworks when he got home and I wasn't ready for the dinner and should have been gone already, all because I was trying to find what happened to them.
Got home from that at 1:00 am and was too tired to post.

Yesterday, I went shopping for a new television for their room (theirs is too small, they say) and then came home to work on the schedule some more..... and clean this filthy dirty house (the RL one--not this one)

And today, I have been doing laundry and still working in that same old schedule that I am sick of looking at and my eyes are crossing .

Teri--Great news about your dad. These seem more like giant strides than baby steps, from my perspective. Hope he's off of the vent soon, my friend.
