I Think that WL is famous for making us say "next time we go" ;) Glad you had a great stay. Wasn't the view from your room wonderful!!!! :goodvibes

Hi all! Just read this whole thread and WOW. I didn't think anyone could appreciate the Lodge like I do. :goodvibes We are headed back again in September:dancer: and I was wondering if anyone has ever ordered a cake from the WL in room dining. Doesn't have to be a birthday cake or anything. Just a surprise dessert for my brother who I'm going with. I'd kind of like it to be in the room when we arrive as a surprise but don't know if that is possible. Any info anyone may have would be great. Thanks in advance. :wave2:

Majestic, GREAT INFORMATION SITE!

My wife and I will be spending our Christmas holiday (Dec. 17-23) and 27th aniversary at the WL. This will be our first time a WDW without the daughter since our honeymoon. We have a courtyard room. At this time of the year would you request a lobby view room, upgrade to Conceige, or would you just roll the dice and take the room they assign you? Your insight is needed here. Thank you for your help. :confused3

You hit the nail on the head for me. I was sort of dreading that walk to the bus stop after a long day at Epcot :faint:

I remember when we had dinner once in Japan and my daughter (at that time 3) fell asleep and we had no stroller. (DUH!) I carried her all the way through the WS and to the bus stop only to have to wait 10 minutes for the bus. Then, when on the bus which was packed, I was unable to get a seat so I had to keep her in my arms the whole time. But wait, it gets better!! This was one of those busses that had a problem with the computers and they would randomly just shut down which would require the driver to pull over and "reboot" to get the bus started again.

Needless to say, I was beat when we got back to the lodge.

We decided that we would take a cab if there was to be a next time. :)

I got a lot of reading to do to find out more about the Wilderness Lodge!! We are going there for the first time in September staying in a Villa. I requested a pool view on the ground floor..any other suggestions for us? We will be there for 3 nights and will be going to Magic Kingdom 2 of those days as well as Animal Kingdom. Eating at Chef Mickey's, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Cinderella's Royal Table and Cinderella's Gala Feast!

Thanks! :wave2:

I thought I read somewhere that WL has chess/checkers tables in the lobby. Anyone know if that's true and if so do they supply the playing pieces?

Hi, actually the game tables are over at the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge the DVC property right next door to the Wilerness Lodge. The tables are located in the Iron Spike Room I have only seen checker playing pieces there but you could in fact bring your chess pieces if you would enjoy that game more. The Iron Spike Room is so beautiful with large leather arm chairs and cozy fireplace. All guest at WL are welcome to use the room.

I have 2 questions that may have already been answered in this thread (I apologize if they have been but just don't have time to go through 100 pages :earboy2:)...

1. Are there now refrigerators permanently in each guest room?

2. (no one get mad at this one please :goodvibes:)...can guests of the WL use the WLV pool?

Thank you! :earsgirl:

Hi, first you never have to apologize on this thread, I wouldn't have time to go back and read through everything either. Let me try and answer your questions.

#1) The last few times I have stayed at the Lodge there have already been refigerators located in the rooms. Put you know that if for some reason there isn't one you may call and have one delivered with in a few minutes.

#2)Yes all the facilities at both resorts are offered to all guest staying at either the Lodge or the Villas. (I prefer the hottub over at the Villa because it's usualy empty and smaller then the ones over at the Lodge)

Sounds like a great request, can't think of anything else you should request as far as room (Villa) location. Hope you enjoy your stay at the Villas.

Re: the refrigerators.... When we first checked into our room (4125) there was no fridge even though I requested one. It took one phone call and about three minutes and one was delivered. Unfortunately when the woman plugged it in she tripped the circuit and we didn't notice until arriving back at our room late that night and everything that was in it was warm. We lost a gallon of milk and stick of cheese :sad2: The other stuff was just bottled water, no problem there. I should have said something but I am not one to complain expecially since we were having such fun and there was nothing else to possibly complain about. We just went to Roaring Forks to get cartons of milk each morning for our cereal, no big deal. Though even when we fixed the fridge it didn't really freeze the bottles in the little freezer compartment or keep things very cold but it did the job OK. Lesson: check your fridge to make sure it is working :teeth:

We loved WL and are already planning our next trip "home". :flower:

Thanks for answering my game board question MagicInMyHeart! Here's another one...where exactly is the otter pond and, do you really see otters?

...in the "Woods View" area on the North side. And, d-u-u-u-h, it's called the otter pond because there ARE OTTERS LIVING THERE! (sorry to be so tongue-in-cheek, but I just couldn't resist!) You usually see a family of otters in the mornings....you are going to FALL IN LOVE with the WL!!!! (don't say I didn't warn ya....! ;) )

Thanks MAGICinMYHEART for those answers. NHmomof2princesses, sorry to hear about the refrigerator situation :sad2: So, then, there is no longer a charge for a frig. Is it the size of a dorm frig or the wet bar type? Do they put it in the vanity area?

Correct no charge for the frig. they are dorm size, and are located under the sinks in the vanity area.

Hi,

My Family is planning to visit WDW on 8/06 (the end of August so we'll be on the value season).

I want to book a 2 BR Villa in the VWL.

How much time in advance should I make the reservation, in order to make sure there are rooms available?

Another question:
Since we're not US citizens (Israel is my home:flower: ) is booking directly through disney is our only option? We don't have disney TA in Israel. Can we use US TA?

thanks.

First let me say...WELCOME to the DIS

As soon as I know my dates, and the rates are posted I book my room.

Now since you are new to the DIS I would take some time and read all you can about the discounts, the tickets and meal plans ect. ect. ect. If you are staying long enough to purchase AP Annual Passes you may receive AP discounts of around 40% check out MouseSavers. Just click on the link below for current discounts.

MouseSavers.com

How long will you be visiting the States?

Renting points from a DVC Member (Sun-Thur) is a great way to get the best discount at WDW. Even if you do split reservations. Example 2br villas @ VWL value season $555.0 +tax (11.5%)=$619.00 a night: Renting points from DVC Member (Sun-Thurs) would run around 34 points a night which you rent from a DVC Member for around $10.00 a point. 34X10= $340.00 a night (no Tax)

$619.00 x5 nights=$3094.13 (Sun-Thur)
$340.00X 5 nights=$1700.00 (Sun-Thur)
By renting points you could save $1400.00 just on the 5-night stay.

* Note: Friday and Saturday Nights the points are much higher per night 72 points a night so the per night rate would be $720.00 if renting through DVC, It would be less expensive to make a reservations for Friday abd Saturday through CRO, or stay at another Resort in two rooms...

You can learn more by going to the DVC Rent/Trade Board Forum here on the DIS

I have friends from Itay and they use Dreams Unlimited Travel, Inc.

Knowledge is power so learn all you can over the next few weeks, and ask any questions you have someone should be able to help you.
