Hiya! We are very excited to be visiting WL in February. We are staying for 9 nights (yay!) and on the DDP. The atmosphere, and all the positive reviews, won us over from a moderate. Thanks for this great thread!

Were all the rooms at WL renovated this year. Does anyone know which standard rooms used to be designated smoking rooms? I am planning a Jan. 2008 trip and will probably request a standard room. Any tips or suggestions? This will be my first time staying on the Disney grounds!!
Thanks!

A big thank you for "The NEW WL FAQ-part 5" the information on page 1 is exceptional! What a wonderful planning tool for our first trip to the WL.:cheer2:

After reading all this information...I have a few questions I was hoping the good people on this thread could answer for me...from the club level rooms can you get a bay lake view?... are the views the same ie standard, woods, courtyard...and are there connecting rooms? (no guarantees of course :) )
Thank you...JC

Booked a woods view (on the request it says Woods View (JB) - does this mean anything??).
Yes ::yes:: JB is a code used by Disney that means your reservations are at Wilderness Lodge Resort-Woods View, each resort uses combinations of letters that tells them resort and room booked.

just read on the AKL thread that there is construction going on over at the WL Lodge. She said there was more noise and things blocked at the WL than there was at the AKL? What is going on? Does anybody know? She also said the Mercantile was blocked off as well as the back entrance to the Bear face room area. Maybe there are just getting ready for the Holidays?
This is the first I have heard about this :confused3 Maybe someone just back will post an update soon. I have been informed that there will be painting being done over at the Villas during our visit next month, other then that nothing.

The Wilderness Lodge and rooms were all refurbished last year.

The Smoking Optional Rooms were located on the 6th floor far North Wing and were only Wood View or Courtyard View rooms none of the Standard View rooms were ever smoking optional.

Yes the views from the Club Level offer some of the best views available, you may request a view at no additional charge when you send your request to the IPO Staff. They also have connecting rooms.

Thanks for your quick response! That really helps make our decision. My husband wants to know if all of the rooms have the flat panel television! Does anyone know if the standard view rooms have these?

Yes ::yes:: all the rooms at Wilderness Lodge have the new Flat Panel LCD TV's.

Yes, I was told this as well for our December trip (12/2-12/7). She said "some construction noise due to painting of the exterior." I hope this doesn't put a dent in the Christmas mood in the lobby.

The panting is just normal maintenance and will not effect the Lodge. This will only be over at the Villas.

The post over on the AKL thread was that the guest who is a WL Vet said she saw more work being done at the Wilderness Lodge then she did while staying at AKL where major construction is being done but is blocked off from view.

Hope we receive additional information this afternoon about the Lodge.

Actually, it is not construction at all, but the Lodge is refinishing the wood floors of the lobby. They were blocking off sections at a time so that only a small inpact would be felt.

That would make sense for all the "noise".

Should be all completed soon.

When is the best time to leave for the 9:30 HDDR. We catch a Blue Flag boat, right?

We just booked our Wilderness Lodge Holiday Sleigh Ride!!!:cool1:
We are doing it Monday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m.:santa:

Well the Blue Flag Boat will get you there, depending on Magic Kingdom's park hours the larger Green Flag Boat may still be running. I believe that they ask you to arrive 30 minutes early for the show so you can check-in and have photo's taken. Remember if you are pressed for time there is also a direct bus to the Settlement Depot that only takes about 4 minutes.

Couple questions for the Lodge experts -

How long does the boat to the Contemporary take? How much travel time should I allow for travel to breakfast at Concourse? Kona?

Is the Wonders of the Lodge tour still offered every Wednesday through Saturday? I know sometimes the info on Allears isn't 100% up-to-date, so I just want to be sure what days it is available as I rework my plans around our resort change. How far in advance do you have to book this tour?

How is breakfast at WCC? As crazy as lunch/dinner? Right now I don't have anything booked there because the antics are totally unappealing, so if breakfast is the same way, we'll just stick to in-park and monorail resort restaurants.

WCC is just as crazy during breakfast as it is during lunch and dinner.
