I didn't think the turbo-toilets (LOL) at WL were nearly as bad as the ones at POP. The first time my ds flushed at Pop, it scared him so bad, he practically flew up against the opposite wall. :rotfl2:

teentoddlermom--like your avatar! :thumbsup2

Wish I was in the lobby right now...

Thank you. I intend to have the time of my life. First time at WL.
Don't forget to pat Humphrey the bear's nose to let the magic begin! In case you don't know where he is, you'll find him at the bottom of the totem pole in front of the mercantile. Better have your wallet ready if you go through the doors to the mercantile too! Lots of cool stuff to buy.

You're going to LOVE your Wilderness Lodge vacation!!

The Green Flag Boats That starts at Ft. Wilderness Campground then Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom, route reverses direction at 3:00 pm. Before 3 it goes clockwise Ft. Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge then Magic Kingdom after 3 it goes counterclockwise Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge then Ft. Wilderness Campground. The boat trip itself from WL to MK is about 10 minutes. The boats are suppose to run every 20 minutes or less.

This is so Guest at Wilderness Lodge will have faster service, in the morning most guest are traveling to Magic Kingdom...direct service to the Magic Kindom for deluxe guest. Then in the afternoon most guest are returning to the resort the route reverses...direct service to Wilderness Lodge.

Note: If traveling to the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon or later, the Direct Bus between Wilderness Lodge and Magic Kingdom will save you almost 45 minutes travel time. Same thing applies if you are leaving Magic Kingdom in the am. before the routes have been reversed.

Does anyone know whether this information is still right? I got it off the first page (from 2004!), so I'm wondering whether this is still the way the green flag boat runs - clockwise before 3:00 and counter-clockwise after 3:00. I'm 99% sure we'll be staying at WL for our next trip in May , so I'm now trying to learn all I can about the WL. My brother and SIL stayed there when we were at the Poly last May and we visited them during that trip - it seems like a wonderful resort!:yay:

Thanks for your help!

Leslie

PS - Also, does it still hold true that you are better off (time-wise) to take a bus if going back to the WL from MK before 3:00 or going to the MK after 3:00? Am I reading that right?

Good morning all! DH and I have stayed at the WL before (in fact, we are staying there again when we go to the F&W Festival) but we are staying Concierge for the 1st time at the WL in December. :goodvibes

Can someone give me some info about CL at the WL - I have only stayed CL at the GF. Are they similar in the food offerings? Does anyone have any pictures? That would be extremely helpful!! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much!!!

Just returned from 8 wonderful days at WDW and WL, and had a great time! Couple of things for those planning a trip to consider....

We checked in at 3pm, but room still wasn't ready, so finally at 4 we were given a room that faced the quiet pool on the 4th floor. The room had the bunks and a queen, but because our crew featured 2 kids (7 & 12) this was no problem. It was quite a distance from the lobby, but was sooooooo quiet. Only once did I hear any outside-the-room noise, and that was the shower running in the room next to ours. No turbo toilet flush blast (other than ours) to speak of. We also made a quick trip to Wal-Mart early in our stay to purchase a small fan to provide some white noise, which would have blocked out any other sounds (except for snoring from my own fam  ).

As for transportation, we rented a car and had AAA diamond parking, which was great, but I'm sure the bus service was perfectly fine too. It seemed like every day when we were coming or going from the lodge, buses picking up and dropping off guests from the various parks and lines were never long waiting for transport.

For MK we did use boat service, and one night my wife had a 45 min. wait after a boat had broken down :headache: . I'm not quite sure why she didn't opt for the bus!

As for the ferry, one piece of advice/warning for parents of small children, or those prone to cringe at loud noises: avoid sitting in the front/outside portion of the boat, especially at night. The blast from the horn made both my kids jump, and they covered their ears for the remainder of the journey afraid of another blast!!!

This was our second trip to the Lodge, and for my money, I can't imagine staying anywhere else! AKL seemed nice (we visited once for dinner at Boma) but a bit dark (perhaps it was due to construction on upper floors where tarp was hung to keep dust to minimum). My family would have been content spending days at the Lodge and forgoing the parks had I let them, just based on the activities. Oh, one more thing: don't overlook the beach area. My wife and I found this to be a hidden treasure, with the kids playing in the sand and a playground nearby. It's an area that didn't seem to get much use, but with the lounge chairs and gentle breeze, it was a great place (among the many) to relax!!

Can't wait for our next trip there in the years to come!!

How in the world am I going to make it another 9 months?!?!? Hearing all the great reviews makes me want to go today!

I will certainly look for Humphrey. I've heard a lot about rubbing his nose, so I'll definately have to search him out. ;)

Beckie - Thanks so much! I'm so glad to have found this thread. I'm looking forward to reading through as much of it as I can when I have time.

I am glad to hear that about the boat. We were able to stay at the lodge last year and I remember the boat taking a different route one afternoon.. but my family said they did not know what I was talking about.. now I know I am not going crazy.. :)

Does anyone know if the bunk rooms are spread throught the lodge or if they are on a certain floor/wing? I just booked a woods view bunk room for Feb and was wondering what to request for my best chances of getting a GREAT room! Also, what floors have the walled balcony and about how high are they? Thanks!

The rooms with Bunk-Beds are in fact spread out through the Lodge, in the areas with Woods and Courtyard views. I feel that the best Wood view rooms are located in the North Wing either off the main Lobby or overlooking the Otter pond. (these rooms will give you a possible view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishes)

The enclosed balconies are located on the 7th floor Club Level (concierge) standard and Honeymoon Suites. On the 6th floor looking at the room lay-out of the Lodge on the 6th floor the farthest Wings which would include rooms 6000-6034 and 6130-6169. There are also a few rooms that have a stone enclosed patio or balcony most are Jr Suites. The enclosed balcony wall is about 48 inches high. :confused3

Are the Bear Facing rooms considererd Courtyard view?

Nope your not crazy...they reverse the route as most guest travel to the Magic Kingdom in the morning then return to the Wilderness Lodge in the afternoon after 3:00pm. This gives most of the guest staying at WL a shorter more direct trip.

Yes ::yes:: they are located off the main Lobby, on the 4th, 5th & 6th floors there aren't very many of these rooms. Maybe 21 total.

Beckie
Okay last question...do I ask for "bear facing CV" when I make the ressie? Thanks for all your help!!!!!

As for transportation, we rented a car and had AAA diamond parking, which was great, but I'm sure the bus service was perfectly fine too.

We used Valet parking last time and it was $10 a day. Is the AAA parking close? Any less expensive?

Thanks~!

Parking (other than Valet) is free at the resorts. You may have a parking fee if you visit another resort, i'm not 100% sure on that. I believe the AAA lots are only at the parks...I think all the self parking is together at the resorts.
