branv, we had 3 really quick trips to MK before opening (not EMH days either) last week using the boat. I think the boat might be faster than the bus!

Anyone looking for a courtyard view room at WL for Dec 1-8? I just cancelled my reservation to get a discount at AKL.

And we are outta here!!!!! All the planning, reading, posting, anticipation........Here we come!!!!!

I would take the boat to the MK any day rather than waiting for the bus. Just my opinion of course but others may also agree. The boat is really nice and relaxing.

As for your Epcot day, not sure if you've ever tried this but you can take the boat to the Contemporary (Forgot what color flag....anyone wanna chime in here?...it's been too long!) then take the monorail to the TTC and jump on the epcot monorail. We do this when we are at Wilderness Lodge just to get a good fix of the monorail. Make sure you ask if you can ride in the front! It's a REALLY nice ride with a cool view! :)

Can anyone critique my "getting to the parks" plan to make sure it's realistic for travel time, etc? Just 2 adults, early May, no kids to slow us down ;)

Friday
6:30 am wake-up
6:30-7:30 get ready
7:30-8:15 eat breakfast at Roaring Forks
8:15-8:50 leave on MK BUS (allowing for walking to bus stop, wait and travel time)
8:50 arrive at MK

Saturday
6:30 am wake-up
6:30-7:30 get ready
7:30-8:15 eat breakfast at Roaring Forks
8:15-8:45 drive own car to Epcot (no valet)
8:45 arrive Epcot

....I am SO UPSET that I couldn't get a decent rate for WL for Christmas Week (12/22-12/28)....but on the brighter side, I DID get a great Teachers' Rate for S/D for $189/nite, or $1,275.78 w/tax.....

9 days until our first stay at the lodge :cool1:

What should I expect from a standard view. I don't care too much because we got the incredible AP rate, just curious.

In the past Septembers, I have booked Standard view but always got upgraded so maybe you will as well. This year we used the 40% discount rate with the woods view - hoping for an upgrade again!!

Packed up, planned up, ready to go this Sunday morning!!

We have two rooms reserved in December, one courtyard view and one standard. Our reservations aren't linked because the CM said they don't usually do that when the rooms are in different categories. Do you think I could politely ask when we check in if there is any way we could have rooms close to each other? I wouldn't want, however, for our courtyard room to be downgraded to standard to meet this request. Any opinions?

It can't hurt to ask. Worst comes to worst they say "No" while the best case scenario is your other room gets upgraded.

This is what we are hoping. We are going with another family and they have linked our reservations as a grand gathering stating that we would like connecting rooms. I'm hoping, since there are no standard connecting rooms according to CRO, that they will upgrade us to connecting rooms.

But, like I said, I really don't care too much either way. I'm getting the chance to stay at the Wilderness Lodge for $135 per night. Can't beat that. :woohoo:

BUMP:scared1: OK, who is responsible for this? The WL thread had fallen all the way to the 3rd page! Now kids, we can't let the thread for the best resort do this again can we?! Stay on your toes:yay:

The days are getting toooo long since my countdown is now sooo short!

It's your fault...you must be too busy packing for your trip. We will let you slide this time, but don't let it happen again. :dance3:

We're going to WL at the end of January 2008! :cool1: However we're also looking to go again in December 2008 with my parents as a Christmas present for them. Does WL fill up quickly in December? We're looking into coming down during the early to mid-December timeframe as to avoid the Christmas rush. Should I look into booking my reservations soon?

We booked in Late March for the 1st week in Dec. this year, and had no problems. Our biggie was that we wanted to wait for airfare to come out first as that can make or break the trip pricing.

It does seem that it would be tough to find something now at WL for this Dec. I would guess that as long as you book by June you'll be ok.

In my (limited) experience of the last two years, if you want a standard or possibly even a woods view room, you might want to make those reservations within the first few months next year. Same for AAA discounted rooms.

For full-price courtyard view rooms, however, they seem to have plenty of those up through July at least. That's when we got ours last year.

We booked our Dec. 2008 trip a couple of weeks ago. I did take the courtyard view with bunkbeds, but I'm hoping to downgrade to the woodsview and save some money. Why is it that they don't post the woodsview or even the standard rooms now? Why would they not release those rooms unitl later this year or early next year? I will just keep watching it and then change the reservation when it becomes available.

This will be the first visit for my DD and DS. They will be 5 and 6 with my daughter turning 7 on our vacation. We are also going to surprise them and tell them we are planning the trip for their April vacation 2009 but take them the Dec. before. I hope I make it! I'm already bursting to tell them and I have 15 months to go! So excited to stay at the WL during Dec. I can't wait to see it all decked out for Christmas!!!!

Any information on when they may release the woodsview rooms would be greatly appreciated. So excited!!!

I'm right there with you! I just booked our reservation for Dec. 6 - 13, 2008. We also booked the Courtyard with bunk bed room. I'm hoping to downgrade to a woodsview as well, but I have to admit I wouldn't mind if we had to keep the Courtyard room. ;) I couldn't get a AAA rate either. :confused3 Disney reservations told us that the hotel is practically sold out already. Does anyone think this is possible?

I can't wait to see the Lodge at Christmas time! You all have helped us with our decision for visiting during the holiday season. Thank you so much! :goodvibes
