DH and I going back to WL for Food and Wine Festival Sept 27 to Oct 3. This will be our 3rd stay here. We think the lobby is breathtaking and love the atmosphere of the whole resort. However, the first 2 times I was not happy with beds (not king) or room location (views). So this time we are upgrading to courtyard view thinking pool view would be great and figuring you get what you pay for. Now I'm reading on this thread that courtyard view may be view of WLV. I have not had good luck with requests in the past. (In fact I have NEVER had a request granted at WL).:sad1: We plan on having a relaxing vacation with alot of time spent at the resort and pool, ect. I'm going to call with requests--King Bed, Pool view, open balcony. Any other tips???? TIA!!!

Hoping you all can help me with my question. It may be answered somewhere on here, but I dont want to look at the full 447 pages. ;)

We are staying at VWL in Nov. I made ressies for O'hana's for breakfast @7:30. Will the boats to CR be running that early? I'm assuming that the monorail will be running early enough for us to take the boat to CR and then monorail to Poly.

TIA :thumbsup2

The Wilderness Lodge Great Hotels episode will be on Wed, July 25th at 11am (central time) Travel channel.

Just wanted to ya'll know!

YEAH! Thanks for posting this! I was hoping it would be on again before we leave!

I think they start at 7am. Check the 1st page of the thread. There's a bunch of transportation info in the 2nd or 3rd post. I remember riding the monorail really early one year when DD woke up early when we were staying at the Poly, so you'll be fine for that leg.

Must see before we leave!!!!

THANK YOU!!! I have practically all of the others except for the WL! I was religiously checking to see when it was going to be on, great news! :woohoo:

Last year we were involved as a Flag Family during our stay. The more recent pictures I have seen (ie: Deb Wills @ allears) dhows a different ranger. Does anyone know if Stan is still there or has he retired? Would love to know, he was such a kind gentleman. Thanks!

Ranger Stan was there a month ago when we were there. We saw him in the lobby one morning meeting with the flag family. There were no openings for us, though. :sad2: Stan may have been off when Deb went. You may want to pose that question to Deb.

We checked in on 7/10 and out on 7/13 and he was there while we were there. I stayed CL and saw him walk the FF up every morning.

What should I request for a deluxe room that is closest to the lobby? I read the post on the first page and I tried to look a the map, but I have never been to WL before, so I am having a hard time envisioning the layout ... Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

We're going to WL but getting there a day before the free DDP so our travel agent did a split stay for our 1st night and our package starts on day 2. We plan on going to one of the parks on day 2 and I want to get an early start. But we'll have to check in again to get our passes, etc. activated. Does anyone know what the earliest time is that I can do that? Can I go down to the lobby at 7 am or 7:30 am and set things up so we're ready to leave by 8 am?

My question is we are going in Dec. I book a courtyard view. I am wondering a good room to maybe request. Although DH and I have no children we do at night like to sit outside in the quite. I ask for a courtyard room because I thought the view of the pool and waterfall would be nice. How late are the pools open till. Or is there a room where I can see that area and still have some quite time.
Also I have seen photos from the roof can anyone go up there to take pictures.
Thanks for any help and sorry for making a short ? into a long one.

arbonnette: Deluxe rooms are at the ends of the wings so they are as far as you can get from the lobby. They are, however, close to the pool, beach, and boat to MK. Imagine a big U, the deluxe (jr. suite) rooms are at the tips, while the lobby is at the bottom.

poohfan: Can't help you with that one. My guess is anytime you want you can go to the front desk and check-out/in.

scraplady: Inner courtyard view is what you want. The upper courtyard is quieter with direct views of the stream and rocks. Lower is more directly the pool and geyser. Bear face rooms give you direct views onto the lake (from a distance) with everything else in between.

Yesterday I booked a room-only to reserve a spot until the 2008 rates come out and have a question. I did as the beginning of this thread said and requested rooms 5012-5032 for woods view. Will this give me a good view of the MK fireworks and Otter Pond etc? Just want to make sure I requested the right rooms...thanks.

Awhile back someone posted that the wonderful Lodge music was not playing during their visit. Has anyone been there recently and listened in the lobby? Has the soundtrack resumed or been altered?

The music by Aaron Copland, and from Dances with Wolves, Last of the Mohicans, How the West was Won, etc. is firmly a part of my memories from the Lodge. I could sit in the lobby quite awhile just listening. Over the past couple of years I have built up 2 full CDs of Lodge music, so I can get my Lodge "fix" when the need stikes!

Can't wait for our Thanksgiving visit.

Thanks for the reply, FlashScout. While my dad will not be happy to hear the deluxe rooms are far from the lobby (I had a feeling that was the case!), hopefully he will be glad to know they are close to the MK boat, as we plan to spend a good bit of time there with my DD4 ...

Artemus, I think it's still there. :confused3 I could be wrong, since I have it on my computer at work and play it frequently. It's great music either way.
