llebrekniT stay here! I know which topic you are talking about and I haven't even gone there. Ohanafamily warned me to stay away. I did not listen. I headed over for the fury and I won't be there anymore. There are some NASTY people. When I see them over here (CB) too, the postings seem to carry the same rage from the DB so I tend to ignore what is said and move around quickly. They like to get your goat. I find the Tagliarchy to be peaceful....we all love one another. Friends amongst friends. Over on the DB, it's like alligators fighting over who gets the last scrap from the chicken they tore apart limb to limb.

Thanks for making me smile Cheeringmom. I just went back over to see if anyone else had posted and it's still going on. I want to get in there and defend myself, but I KNOW that once I get started, it will turn even uglier. Deadheadbelle had to take Josh to swimming lesson, but I'm sure when she gets back she'll be in there fighting for my honor.

Most of all I just want you guys to know that I would never intentionally expose anyone to our germs. I went on the advice and symptoms we had and without having access to our doctor's office, that's all I could do. I kept thinking that we were going to have to go to some strange hospital with strange doctors if things got any worse, then it would improve and look as though it was over, then it would come back again. Live and learn, now that I know that it was the flu, I feel very bad about it. If we had been at home, definetly I would have handled it differently. I would never take my kids out if they weren't feeling well enough to handle it. We did the best we could with a very bad situation.

What I really want to know is how did these people (that frequent the DB) end up at the DIS? They're obviously a different sort of people, why are they here? Aren't there websites out there for their type?

I read through the entire thread and there are quite a few people defending the situation you were in or defending the definition of sick (I think blowing chunks was mentioned way too many times, in my book)/fever/incubation/infectious time period/etc.

Any time we open ourselves to the invisible realm of the internet, I do believe that people can say things that they would not normally say in an open setting. What I am trying to say is people can be a lot meaner in the safety of not being seen. Does that make sense? I try not to say things that will open it up for any of the mean spirited people to jump in and say mean spirited things. I also use the back button a lot if I feel what I am about to post will be mean spirited and I try to avoid threads that will get my goat. (although the last one is really hard to do!!!!)

Now, this is all hindsite is better than foresite talking, huh? Just remember that you did the very best you could in the situation you were in. You are not a bad mother and your kids are fine. I doubt that more people got ill from your family than the people who are contagious walking around not even knowing they are ill yet. I also would not go over there and try to defend yourself. People over there eat your kind up for a morning snack; that is why I don't post over there! Just let the thread go away and try to stay away from there, okay? Take care and don't let it make you tearful anymore. Those people are not worth your tears!

The thing is, I like to hear other people's point of view & I think there are quite a few folks who can read a differing view & not get defensive. I totally agree with you there! I've been in some of the heated debates (about homosexuality and things like that) and people there love to act more intelligent than the others, correcting grammar and finding the tiniest flaw in others' arguments, then acting like they can just dismiss that person's position because he or she can't spell. How silly is that? Definitely some ego problems on that board. But there are some nice posters who are genuinely helpful and who like intellectual debates.

If they had been, I bet you anything you like that they would have done everything you did. They just want to feel superior. I read your trip reports and never thought anything but, "it would suck to be sick at WDW". I hope your next trip is totally germ free! You deserve it!

That is a mean, nasty thread over on the DB. But they're just making assumptions from the bit of information you gave in your trip report. They love doing that - taking a snippit of information and twisting it around to suit their argument. Don't listen to them. Those people over there just like to hear themselves rant and rave about whatever is the current topic. We know you made the best of your situation and made the best decisions you could. I don't know that I would have done any differently than you given the same situation. I'm sure I'd try to get out as much as possible to enjoy whatever I could on a vacation with sickies in the family. In fact I have travelled while sick - for work. I had no choice so I saw a "Dock in the Box" doctor, got some Rx, and worked my way through my sickness. I'm sure they'd crusify me over there if I mentioned it, especially that I had pink-eye at the time.

Bathroom update... The plumber supposed to come back tomorrow to finish his part, all the parts on the outside like showerhead and faucets. I guess on Wednesday they'll come back and finish the marble. Then tile and wallpaper after that. It's looking like we may have a finished bathroom - and all the workers out of her within the next week or so!

llebrekniT, don't let it get you down. Over the years, I have gone about enjoying the DIS for what it mostly is, family. Many of the folks on the DB are argumentative by nature, they just like to argue, about anything. The subject is immaterial, arguing is. Just their way I guess, and thank goodness there is a DB here to more or less have them in their own pool. Your best bet is to ignore them since, as said above, they will have you for breakfast, on a skewer. In my years here on the DIS, I can recall making one post there, when, as a moderator here, a DIS'er from the CB asked me to 'help her out' there, as she too, like you, was being eaten alive by them. I asked in some way for them to back off, and I too, probably was told to 'shove it'. I did not go back to check though, LOL. And there are other websites 'out there' where they continue to argue, ad infinitum.

So, llebrekniT, enjoy the CB.

Ohanafamily whew! I was really beginning to question who it was that I so terribly offended. So.....I feel a bit of relief as I went back to the board and re read it all. I have heard there are a group of FredS dislikers. Oh well. I hope you rescinded to this person you were not defending FredS.

I do believe some of them like to yank chains and some yank too far while others truly do want opinions, not to crucify your view points. Looks like the Mods decided to not only close....BUT delete my new thread "bickering about other people opinions" where I needed to get peace of mind. So be it.
