Yes! You can walk to Epcot AND DHS :)
There is a boat dock to Epcot and DHS right in between the Swan & Dolphin. It's very convenient, but often slower than walking if you have willing and able walkers in your group :)

From what I've heard/read you can walk to the international gateway at Epcot in about 15 minutes. The boats also stop at the s/d and go to Epcot and Hollywood Studios all day long.

This sounds wonderful! I am really looking forward to our first stay at this resort! Since we have been to WDW so many times, I am always looking for new things to do. Walking and riding the boats will both be fun. My kids have never stayed anywhere other than Disney resorts....so they have never had to go through the main transportation center to go to the parks (my DH and I did years and years ago)! This will be like a cool version of transportation to the parks. :rotfl: Fun! Thank you so much for all of the info mikegood2 and SRUAlmn!! :goodvibes

3 more nights and we will be there!

OK...this should be my last question before we leave! You all are just so full of answers!!

I love to have my hair washed and blown out while on vacation. Is there anywhere on the swan or dophin property that does this? Has anyone used them before if there is a place on site?

The Mandara Spa in the Dolphin is also a full-service beauty salon. I haven't personally used those services, though.

There are also salons at the Y&BC and the Boardwalk...you don't have to be a guest of those properties to use them.

Remember, if going to MK or AK from S/D, it is by bus, so you would not go through the TTC. Only way would be if you walked to front of Epcot and took monorail, or walked or boated to the Studios and took a bus to MK. A direct bus from S/D to MK will drop you off right in front of the park.

Although we could have walked and are major walk exercise peeps-we ALWAYS took the boat-very relaxing and pretty frequent:)

That Bing map is cool- thanks. Got me to wondering about those Dolphin rooms with the x grid over the windows... are those considered to be standard view rooms? Has anyone ever stayed in one? I seem to remember seeing a photo of the view through one on another thread. Just curious as I have standard view booked for my trip. :confused3

Well folks, we're heading out to ACY (Atlantic City Airport) in an hour or so for the Dolphin and some nice weather (looks like 80's right through next week!).

Thanks for the help & info. the last couple of weeks, too!

Take care all, and safe & happy traveling to those coming and going, too:)

Sounds great! We don't leave for 28 more days... dragging by.... We went in November last year, I don't know why I scheduled the next visit 6 months away, but that will not happen again! Safe travels to you! Tell Mickey hello! :)

I'm the same way! I LOVE walking. We enjoy exercise, and I'm also impatient, so the faster I can get somewhere, the better :rotfl: However, there were many days where I prefered the beauty and relaxation of the boat. :thumbsup2

Maybe I will see you guys there????

Hi there-few questions for you seasoned SD folks-
What's the best way to drive to the Dolphin from MCO? I always get turned around and end up going out the opposite from my directions!
What do you do if someone (DH) in your party snores? Hope for a balcony upgrade and make the offending party sleep out there? LOL
Thanks for all the advice, really appreciate it!
Phlip

I just booked a room at the Dolphin for 8 nights during the end of May. I've only stayed at Disney properties before (moderate ones).

How long does it take to walk to Epcot from the Dolphin? How is the hotel with room requests?

Rent a limo to pick you up from MCO and then rent a car when you get to the hotel! :rotfl: That is what WE are going to do!!

I can't help with directions. It is our first stay there too. But, it is really nice that they have a rental company right there for the guests. If we don't take ME we always have a car/limo pick us up to get us to the resort we are staying in. Driving in FL can be confusing!

Have fun planning your trip. I am sure some of the seasoned Dissers can help with your questions!

LEAVING APRIL 8th - as in TOMORROW!! :yay:

Have not stayed at the s/d yet, but from what I have read it's about a 15 minute walk to Epcot's International Gateway. I think we are planning on taking that walk on our first day after we arrive and get situated.

Thanks! Now I have another question...is anything unusual going on the week of 5/21 through 5/29? I mean, I know it's memorial day weekend, but we are paying $129/night for a standard room (not including $10 resort fee and $9 parking), which seems like a really good deal (maybe it isn't? I didn't do a ton of research, but the listed rack rates are above $300..). Is there construction or something?

That IS a great deal - nothing unusual going on - you just got lucky!!! Enjoy!

Yes, it is about a 15 minute walk to Epcot and about 15-20 minutes to HS.

Don't forget that there is the boat dock right outside and that will take you to Epcot or HS.
