Thanks LexiC123! I appreciate all the answers.

I may be tempted if a code comes out for my time period, but there seem to be so many benefits to staying at the Swan over the Disney resorts. Our top priority is convenience to the parks, so staying either in the EPCOT area or on the monorail is our preference.
I couldn't agree more about convenience, that's why we love the Epcot resort area so much. And if your trip is in the early part of November, you'll really love being so close to Epcot during the Food & Wine Festival.

PS - Not sure if you were aware of this, but besides the AAA discount, the S/D offers a "Stay Connected" rate for a second room, starting at $119/night:

Stay Connected in 2012! Book any room in 2012, then call us at 888-828-8850 to reserve a second guest room starting
as low as $119*. Be sure to ask for "Stay Connected" when you call!

BTW there is a 20 % AAA discount at the restaurants on property other than the signature ones.

Hello, I heard on the podcast this week or last that they are in the process of redoing all the rooms at the swan dolphin. Does anybody have anymore detail on that. From my understanding the new renovated rooms are beautiful. Has anybody stayed in them. I was there two weeka go, I would have asked about staying in one had I known.

My mom and I stayed at the Swan for 7 nights Mar 27 - Apr 3 ... what a dream! We were concerned about staying in a non-Disney-owned hotel, but WOW. We are 100% sold from this point forward!

With the TEACH discount (I am an office manager), I was able to secure a rate of $189 + tax ... not too shabby for spring break and even cheaper than Disney moderates during the same time frame.

Being able to walk to Epcot was the single-most exciting aspect of the stay. Starting the day by leisurely strolling to a park via the Boardwalk is so much more pleasant than riding a crowded bus.

The beds were absolutely amazing, AND the room was so much more clean than POR (our previous resort stay). I appreciated that there was free wi-fi available, although it was slower than dial-up at some points in the day.

Each exchange with the staff was very pleasant. The bellhop who assisted us the first night saw us almost every day in the hallway, and he always made a point to ask how we were doing and how we were enjoying the resort.

We were concerned about being unable to use DME and Garden Grocer- that should not ever have crossed our minds. We chose Tiffany Towncar for our transportation, and the driver was absolutely phenomenal. He met us at the baggage claim area, helped us with a minor luggage issue (one piece was delayed a few extra mins.) and allowed for a 30 minute grocery stop at Publix. At Publix, we were pleased to find a bunch of organic and natural products + a good selection of fruit, and we had no trouble finding everything we needed to get us through the week. For milk, we stopped by the Screen Door General Store at the Boardwalk every couple days on our way back from Epcot.

We are definitely converted to the Swan and hope to return for our next trip!

I would say, that with thew size of the two resorts, that there is a continual renovation of rooms going on.

I agree with Dan.. we stayed at the Dolphin five years in a row and there were ALWAYS room renovations in process. Didn't affect our stay, but with a place that size, it is expected. :hippie:

It didnt effect my stay at all, the point of my post was to get some feedback on how the new rooms look. I am not just taking about just maintanance. I heard these rooms have been totally redone, carpets, wallpaper, furniture.

Didn't all the rooms jsut have a major rehab in the last 5-6 years? Would they really start all over again this soon? I guess, like Dan said, maybe the ones they started a few years ago are already in need of sprucing up. But al new decor & furniture so soon?

I think those might be for corporate (or other) party functions.
Thanks! That's why I love those Bing maps. I always see things I never noticed before. On the side of the screen it said 'Walt Disney Catering' as one of the options, so I thought maybe that's what it was?

Hi Michele...welcome to the thread
Sorry, it didn't quote your responses :) I was going to ask about the Dive In movies. You mentioned they are held once a week. Are they always on the same day of the week?

I would love to know more about this too! Maybe some pictures will pop up soon? Was the podcast from a reputable site?

"Dive In Movies" are seasonal. (now being the season :goodvibes) As I remember five Junes in a row, they were held on Wednesday evenings. It will be listed on the events for the week flyer at the front desk. :hippie:

Yay! Thank you so much! We'll be there in June, so I'll be sure to keep my eyes out for the events list :)

Yes it was from this site. The Dis unplugged podcast from last week. Since the swan dolphin is a sponsor of this site, I assume its true.

pgianna,

DD and I are checking in to the Dolphin next weekend. I will be sure to ask what's going on with regards to a refurbishment and will report back here what I learn (assuming no one else beats me to it! ;))

Yes, it was. it was in the facebook segment where they answer questions. One of the questions was: What resort needs a refurbishment the most? Pete kind of had a hard time coming up with one and finally said, probably the swan/dolphin even though they are a sponsor. He went on to say something to the effect of that will not be the case for long becuase they are in the process of redoing all there rooms. He said the new rooms are beautiful. I took what he said as fact since he has a close relationship with the S/D management. he always raves about the folks at the S/D. There you have it.

I just went back and listened to that segment. They talk about the S/D about half way into the segment. Pete said a lot of the rooms have been redone already but all the rooms need to be completed becuase the old ones look really dated. He said the new rooms are stunning, those were his exact words.

Yes! I heard it too!! Hmm........ here's hoping someone knows what's going on :thumbsup2

I want a new refurbished room when we go this summer!
The Dolphin is fully booked - so what ever room we get it will be when we arrive on the last Saturday in June.
I hope it is a newly done room :goodvibes
