Today was Sunday and the plan was to arrive at Epcot early enough to avoid some of the crowds. The wife was concerned about me and said “now Colt, if you get all weird on us at Epcot we’ve got no train to put you on”. This made me a little nervous but I thought it just might be possible that we’d beat some of the crowd this time and I could talk everyone into leaving early when it got busy.

We hoofed it on over to the Monorail station which took us to Epcot. Our first ride was the big old round ball called Spaceship Earth. Lucky for me, it did not seem crowded at all and we walked right on to the ride.

I enjoyed Spaceship Earth so much that the day got off to a great start. Next was Test Track which was a little hairy for me, but I got through it.

Finally, we arrive on Mission Mars and disaster soon followed. You see, we didn’t do a lot of research prior to showing up. At least not enough to know there are two completely different rides you take at this attraction.

We took the wrong one. I should of known better from all the signs and warning and the fact that nobody else was even in line.

By the time I got off this disastrous and absolutely God-awful ride, I was sick as a dog and lying in the bushes. I couldn’t stop spinning and the spinning caused me to heave. Soon after, there was nothing left to heave so I just lurched and lurched, convulsing in the bushes, unable to control my body.

I was hot and cold, sweating and shivering. My teeth chattered and my eye blinked uncontrollably.

I was a mess and crawled up under a tree in the bushes to get in the shade and close my eyes. I told the wife and girls, who apparently were immune to the spinning effects of the horrible ride, to go off and have fun and I’d call them when I felt better. I saw concern on the face of my wife which made me feel better but the girls were ready to go do Test Track a second time with Fast Passes so off they went.

Over the course of the next hour or so, I started to feel a little better. I managed to gather myself, brush off the dirt and leaves that were stuck to me, and make it over to an ice cream vendor who also sold soda. I thought a little Sprite would calm my tummy. I was right.

I decided to camp out near the fountains behind Spaceship Earth and gather myself further. About that time, my phone rang as the wife checked up on me.

spinning rides not gud....at least for you. even the easy side can make people sick.

I hope you didn't have barf with leaves mixed in attached anywhere on your body.....

I'm glad you recovered and were able to "crawl" over to get some sprite.

I hope you get to experience more of Epcot....

That is one reason I well only ride the green side.

Hi Colt. Welcome back to computer world. I have had the same issues of late. Aggrivating.

Hey Colt.....welcome back. Great updates - especially your description of the after effects of Mission Space. I got pretty dizzy on the orange side a few years back, so now I go green. :thumbsup2 I hope you recover quickly!

Being a Disneyland person I have never been on that ride. So I find it ironic that the side that makes you sick is orange where as the one that doesn't is green. Seems backwards to me.

:rotfl:

Oh Colt, you poor thing! That ride is very unsettling-especially if you have no idea how bad it can be. I am terribly affected with motion sickness-I cannot even scroll down on my computer screen too quickly.:lmao:Seriously! You and I would not be very good Astronauts!
I am so glad that you are back to telling your story. It is neat to hear the tales of someone seeing Disney for the first time. It does make seeing the parks a bit more challenging, but very interesting to us, the reader.:rotfl:

Great updates Colt!!! :thumbsup2 Sorry the Mission Space ride made you sick, hope you at least enjoyed Soarin and other aspects of the park, it really is a great park, a lot more spread out so you won't be so bothered by the crowds, it's very easy to avoid large crowds there.
Well, that is until you get over into certain parts of the World Showcase.

Funny, I've always thought of orange for danger and green for good to go! :thumbsup2  But I can totally see why you would think the other way around.

Great updates, Colt! Missed ya while you were gone and glad you're back!

Glad you found some sprite! :thumbsup2 Hope you are able to continue on with your day! :rolleyes1

Sara

I suppose the bright side of it was that you , wait, I"m really struggling here. Ummmm, you did find some sprite. There! You did find Sprite.

I don't ride Mission Space either. Too many of you on here have scared me off! I have vertigo, so something like that doesn't really appeal to me anyways. Glad you recovered. I wonder what that must have looked like? A grown man crawling into the bushes??? :rolleyes1

I rode the easy version thinking it was no big deal and that I'd be able to handle the difficult version.... NOOOO WAY JOSE' not the same ride at all!!! and like you...never again!!! Glad you enjoyed Spaceship Earth though, one of my favs!
