I think now you just ask at the front desk to see some rooms. I'd love to see SLC and suites pictures as well! :) (if they'll take you on a little tour!). I am really anxious to see "new" pictures of the GF! Suite and deluxe concierge room pictures would look great in the FAQ, wouldn't they? :D

Would teens enjoy concierge at GF. My daughters is going to spend her 16th birthday in WDW and we really want it to be special! although if we can't get an AP rate.....it will have to be special somewhere else! he he he

Well, in all honestly, most teens would not like the GF Concierge. The food offerings are pretty gormet, things that many of my teenage friends would not eat that I would.

Also, the GF Concierge really never has AP discounts. When they are available, they are for the Sugar Loaf Key Concierge. This year those AP rates were $339/night.

I have to say that the GF is a wonderful resort, and I love it! I have trips planned within the next years to stay in both concierge levels. :)

I think a teenage girl would like the Grand Floridian. My nephew who is 13 did not like it. So I stayed at the Contemporary Resort. I would like to go back to stay at the GF someday. I am hoping to bring my parents next year. My mom is handicapped so we would need a handicap room. I don't know where the handicap rooms are located at the GF. I know my mom would like a room with a view of the castle but those rooms are very expensive. By the way what is an AP rate? Go to GF and enjoy!!

I have not yet tried Concierge, but I stayed at GF a couple times as a teenager (15 and 18) and I loved it. I am 24 now. I just looked at the first page of this thread to see what was last reported as being offered in the main building's concierge. Remembering back to when I was 16, there is plenty on the list that I would like. Yes, my tastes probably still aren't refined enough for some of the items listed, but there are plenty of basics. Breakfasts (cereal, bagels, fruit, danishes), tea (sugar, chococolate chip, and oatmeal rasin cookies), twilite refresher (monterey jack cheese, veggies and dip, salads), Grand Indulgences (Chocolate covered strawberries; mini eclairs; mini cream puffs; mini key lime tarts; fruit tarts; boston cream pie tarts). And that's just the basic items that I pulled out for my tastes. They have soft drinks there as well that you can request. It was a dream as a teenager to stay in the main building. In fact, my dream is finally coming true, and I'll be staying there starting October 29 for my honeymoon! Bottom line, if your daughter is anything like me, she'll love staying there!!

Thanks for your help. Actually my dd has a real gourmet taste. I don't know about her friends though. After reading your posts I think that perhaps a Lagoon view room would be better. or maybe a tower room. I am clueless when it comes to the GF. I know my dd would love to stay at the GF! Any suggestions?

The Tower room is very nice. And, it has that added sitting area with second TV which is nice for some added space. I'm sure they will enjoy being on the monorail, too! Good luck with your decision!

Does anyone know when the GF "quiet" pool rehab will be complete? We are heading down in December and wanted to know if it will be done by then. Thanks!

They were removing the white fence on our last day there (10/15) but one of the workers said it would still be a couple more weeks before its open to swimmers.

Thanks for the update, mfisk!

I have two trips planned to the GF--one in February and one in April. Can't wait!!

:p

I've read through the entire thread and now I have some questions. Sorry if they have already been posted/answered. 1.) What should I request for a garden view room? 2.) Are there even discounts on lodge tower rooms? 3.) Are we better off with a lagoon view room? 4.) Are they ever dicounted? 5.) What is the GF like during New Years Eve? thanks for any questions you can answer. :smooth: :smooth:

Well, did you get a discount over NYE? What was your rate?

I'll reply to the rest of your questions later. I'm in a little hurry right now.

1) Well, I have a Garden View Room booked, and I think I'll be requesting either Boca Chica Pool View or Sago Cay Marina View. Really all rooms at the GF are great, so I'm not sure if I will even put any room requests other than a daybed.

2) Yes, they are usually available.

3) Some Lagoon View rooms do not face the Magic Kingdom, while some that do have the MK Views are blocked by trees. Personally, I enjoy looking at the grounds, but if you want to take the chance for a MK View, then book a Lagoon View.

4) You can usually get a discount on Garden View, Lagoon View, Lodge Tower, and Lodge Concierge Rooms. Sometimes discounts can be available at the Main Building Concierge, but the discounts are 15% at most (with the Disney Club). Suites are never discounted.

5) The GF will be decorated for Christmas, and they do a wonderful job!

Thanks for all your help. I think we will definetly try the GF. It sounds just soooo wonderful. WE probaly won't do concierge. hmmmm. We will see if we can still get the discount we were hoping for. I would really like to stay in a tower room. But if we can't I think we will go with garden view. Thanks again for all your help!:smooth: :smooth:

We were in a tower room last week and we really enjoyed it! :) We had it at the AP rate of $276/night.

Enjoy the GF!!! :D

Well, I'll be heading out for my wedding bright and early tomorrow morning. Then, after the reception on Saturday, my new husband and I will set off to drive to Disney. We are so excited. We'll get to Orlando Sunday afternoon, but we will wait until early Monday morning to head to the Grand Floridian. I cannot wait to see our room! I am so looking forward to being there. It has been at least 6 1/2 yrs since I've been to Disney or GF. My fiance went 1 1/2 yrs ago to Disney, but he has never stayed on site let alone GF. This will be my first time in the main building too! It has been a dream of mine. Gosh, I am just so excited. It is hard to believe that in 4 days I will be standing in GF!

Congratulations! We spent half of our honeymoon at Disney and it was definitely magical.

Anne2--Congrats! Have a wonderful trip! Be sure to give us a full report when you return!
