OH OH!!! See if they will let you sneek a peak at a Lodge Tower room... tell them that you're considering it for your next trip! :D

Hi Everyone

I stayed at the Grand Floridian December 1994 my favorite Disney Vacation the hotel and parks were gorgeous. Well anyway I stayed in the Conch Key building great location. I have talked my parents into going next December 2002 for my dad's 70th birthday. My mom is wheelchair bound does anyone know where the handicap rooms are located in the Grand Floridian Hotel? Can I get a castle view room without it being a suite and handicap accessible?

Please advise

Well, all of the buildings do have handicap accessable rooms. I believe there are some lagoon view (castle view) rooms as well. :)

Yes. Laundry rooms are located on the first floor of all lodge buildings. I used this on our honeymoon. I think there are 2 washers and 2 dryers per room. They sell detergent and fabric softener. I don't remember there being a change machine, though, so bring a roll of quarters. :D

Nice to see you posting, scanne. :)

There are washers and dryers in all the lodge buildings except Sugar Loaf Key. I'm not sure if there is a room in the main building, I have no idea where it is at if there is one.

Sorry, I didn't get into the rooms.

Ok. I got back last night and I've gotten a couple of rough draft pages in the works. Here's my GF photo pages. Enjoy!

Has anyone recently returned from Sugar Loaf or the Royal Palm Club? I know there were a few of you planning to stay there!

I will be staying in RPC starting October 28 or 29 - November 3 or 4 (dates depend on driving versus flying).

Don't know if you will find anyone one just back from sugar loaf, while staying at gf noticed sugar loaf dark for entire 2 weeks we were there, think they must of bumped everyone togther in the main building. MKY

we were first in conch key and told we were moving to the corner room there, and then with no explanation we were moved to big pine. Big pine was very full , a few lights in conch and boca chia, and sago cay the 1st week seemed to have on lights, and lots of conference people with briefcases, after the tragedy , I didn't see anyone with briefcases or any other conferences before we left (on the 22nd). Over all the hotel was empty, maybe 3 or 4 families at the pool a day that was it. Hardly ever saw anyone milling around after the 11th. (we would of left too but no way out). MKY

I'm leaving for WDW on Friday and I've booked a concierge room using may AP discount. I'm pretty sure that my TA said the reservation was concierge lodge. So does this mean I'll be at Sugar Loaf?

And I'm a little confused about Tower rooms? Is this only for deluxe or can you get this type of room with a regular concierge room. (I got lost on this post about 7 posts ago.)

Also, do they have King size beds in the concierge? I guess there's no way to get a MK view at sugar loaf, any room recommendations with this type of ressie?

You can only get AP discounts for Lodge concierge (Sugar Loaf)... they don't offer any discounts for concierge in the main building.

Tower rooms are located in all buildings. However, you can't make a reservation for a tower concierge, you can only reserve lodge concierge and then request a tower room. I think there are only a couple in the whole building.

You can also request a king bed... but there is no guarantee.

You are right, there is no way to get MK view at Sugar Loaf.

If you really want concierge, king bed, and MK view I would reserve a room in the main building. These concierge rooms are referred to as the Royal Palm Club. I stayed there once and it is AWESOME!!! The view of the castle is perfect! :)

Erika, I assume you are going to "get as much dirt as possible" for me about RPC and SLC, right? :D If you have time, could you please ask for a tour? I'd truly love to hear about it! I also made a request about some lodge towers on your request thread. I would appreciate any information you could get me for the FAQ! (since I won't be down for a few more months yet!)

No problem! ;)

Do you think they'd let me take digital pics on the tour?? That would be cool, huh?? :D

I'll definitely take pics of our tower room... and also find out as much as I can about those tower rooms on the 5th floor.

Let me know if there is anything else! :) Now that we're going to be there for 9 days I'll have plenty of time to snoop around. :p

Well, any photo opportunity you get, take advantage of it! I might be pushing my luck here, but could you try to get into a Main Building Concierge Deluxe for some photos?!?!? :D

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Hey... I can ask?? The can only say "no", right?? :D :D

Back when GF was new I took a tour. They went to several different suites and deluxe rooms in the Main Building and in Sugar Loaf. I wonder if they still do that????
