Thanks, josie and Cali-D! At least we still have a chance for a view of the Magic Kingdom! (BTW, it was the room assigner to whom dh was speaking, and he said that she was very nice :) ). GF, here we come!!! :bounce::bounce: :bounce:

I have posted my last 2 posts to you, on THIS thread...yet it comes up on the main page?? Strange. Wanted you to know that I had intended for them to be here, not there!! Ooops!

Disneybelle66, I think when you went to reply you hit "new thread" instead of "post reply". I had a feeling those posts were meant to be on this thread. ;)

What is a lodge tower room? I saw with the code, that these rooms are available for 295.00/night. Are they in the main building, and if so, are they smaller? What view do they have? Thanks!

They are in the lodge buildings. They are just standard rooms with a rounded sitting area. They are over 500 square feet (regular rooms are 400). They sleep 4, with 2 queen beds. 3/4 of these rooms have balconies. There are a total of 16 lodge towers.

:)

I'm thinking of upgrading to a lagoon view, and noticed the boat dock. Can you take a boat to the magic kingdom? I have read that conch key and sago have the great view of the castle, but since I don't plan to be around the room much, and especially at night, would it be nicer to get a room that overlooks the resorts a different lodge? This is so hard to make a decision, and I'm not sure if I even need to make the upgrade to lagoon. My ds's are 14 and 16 - plan to be on the go continuously!

Yes, you can take the boat to the Magic Kingdom. Both Garden and Lagoon Views are nice, for the price your best bet is Garden View, though. I do like Lagoon View, but I sometimes wonder if the cost is really worth it. Yeah, it's great to look out at the castle (but, 1/3 of lagoon views don't look towards the castle) but the garden views are great - you can take in the whole "feel" of the resort. I have lagoon booked for my next trip, and I stayed in lagoon on my last trip. ;)

wow, thanks for the info so fast - ok, I think I am going to keep with the garden, and keep the extra money for a great meal. I plan to eat one night at Narcoosies, and another night, we are going over to Artist Point, so obviously, we like to eat well. I also forgot to ask where this new pool with the slide is located. Is it possible to get a garden view of this pool, and be right by the pool?

The new pool is between the main building and the wedding pavilion. The aren't any garden view rooms overlooking it, but you can get a garden view overlooking the courtyard pool (Boca Chica or Big Pine Key).

Thanks, I think I am going to request a room at Big Pine Key, close to the main building as possible, and hopefully this will be the closest walk to the pool as well. Are the 9100 rooms on the end closest to the main building, then the numbers get larger as you get closer to the lagoon?

9102 is the closest garden view room to the Main Building. 9202, 9302, and 9402 are all next to the stairwell, so they are also close.

:)

Just wondering if there are any suggestions for what room to get when I stay at the GF in Sept. I have not made any reservations yet, hoping that there will be a discount soon. My DH and I are going to spend just one day at the GF, and I want it to be a great room with a view. This will be our one night out without our DD!! Since I am spending the day at the theme parks, will it be worth the extra money to stay in the concierge for this one night?

Thanks for all help, Melissa

The Concierge Honeymoon rooms would be perfect for your and your husband! However, these are very very rarely discounted. They start at $580 per night plus taxes.

Otherwise, I'd book a lagoon view room, and request a castle view with king bed. :)

I noticed you said stairwells in the Big pine key lodge - if you are on the upper floors, are there elevators? I remember at OKW having to go up and down three flights of stairs, no elevator? Will the rooms you mentioned be fairly close to the new pool?

Hi! We are getting married in August 2002, and are going to be staying at the Grand Floridian. As of right now, we have a lagoon view room booked. Is there any type of room that we could reserve that would guarantee us a MK view? I read about the honeymoon rooms, but didn't know if they all guaranteed MK views or not? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated - most important to me is having a view of the castle.
Thanks for any help!
Heather P

With lagoon view, you have a 2/3 chance of getting a view of the MK. There is a lagoon view, MK view, king dormer room in Sago Cay which is perfect for a honeymoon. If you'd like the room number, send me a private message (PM).

Most of the honeymoon rooms have a MK view. The exception is 3 turret rooms. You could book a 1 bedroom suite (the one with a king and queen sleeper) in the lodge buildings and be guarenteed a MK view. They are pretty nice suites, and start out around $850 a night.

Great Hotels will be rerunning the GF episode on 5/2 at 3PM

Where are the best Garden View rooms with king beds? I've stayed in Sago Cay before and loved how it's kinda out of the way. Suggestions?

There are king beds in every building, including Sago Cay (both garden + lagoon views). I know of one garden view (Sago Cay) king dormer on the fourth floor with a marina view. :)
