We are a group of 8 staying in 3 different rooms. 2 of us are in the SLC, 2 of us are in the RPC and the last 4 are in a regular room. Their question is - which building besides Sugar Loaf is closes to the main building so they can be as close to us as possible? I see Big Pine - but some rooms in Sago are close to Gaspirilla's which seems better?

Well, if you were to walk directly out of the side door of Conch Key (near rooms 7101/7102) and you'd walk directly into Sugar Loaf (after using a key card to enter). Big Pine is the closest of the buildings to the main building, though.

:)

Thanks for your answer CaliforniaDreaming - I looked back on your site map to understand your reply and I could see exactly what you were talking about.

Thanks again for the input. I just love these boards.

Hi, I have a question about reserving a garden view room. Can you request this type of room in the main building? I'd really like to stay there, unless they are all concierge, or unless anyone else knows of reasons not to. Thanks!

All rooms in the main building are concierge. Lowest price you'll probably ever get in there is close to $600/nt.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you earlier.

Snurk is correct. All rooms/suites in the main building are concierge. I have seen an occasional discount (10-15%), but nothing more. These discounts are pretty rare, too.

Good garden view rooms are in Big Pine Key. That building is close to the main building, and rooms have pleasant views of the courtyard quiet pool.

:)

Thanks for your help! When I asked the CM, she had no idea, and thought all rooms in the main building were garden!!! I will ask for Big Pine Key now. This is a dream come true to be able to stay there. I'm hoping for good discounts on the 7th.

I will be staying at the GF in May with my mother and two 8 year old nieces. Any room suggestions? Right now we have a garden view but are thinking of bumping up to concierge. Is it worth it?:D

Hi Cali!

We are leaving soon for the GF, and I can't wait!!! Thanks for all of your help!

I tried to click on the link on page one to see the Cameo decor, and I could not get it to work. Where can I see a picture of a Cameo room?

I will take lots of pictures, and although I am fairly computer-illerate I will try to get them posted! I do have a new map of the GF for you.

Thanks again!

Ok, we were originally staying at the Contemporary for our upcoming trip. My sister was going with us and decided to take classes may mester at her university. We had to change our trip to June and couldn't get anything at the Contemporary so we booked at the Grand Floridian. When I called I decided to take a chance and ask for the AP rate in the Royal Palm Club. I knew there probably wasn't one offered but figured all they could say was no. Guess what!!! They had an AP rate room available in the Royal Palm Club and I jumped on it imediately. I am so excited. I only had to call one time and there it was. I've waited to post this because I wanted to make sure it wasn't a mistake. I got my confirmation in the mail and it was correct. I just wanted to let everyone know my good news. I couldn't wait to tell y'all.

Yes, code CFQ (Annual Passholder) gives 30% off room types Garden through Concierge (Garden, Lagoon, Lodge Tower, Lodge Concierge-Sugar Loaf, Concierge-Main Building); and CEP/CGK (Summer Special) gives $100 per night off of room types Garden through Concierge.

My husband called the GF today with our room requests (four days prior to our arrival). We have a lagoon view standard room and were hoping for Conch Key, but he was told that there wouldn't be any Conch Key rooms available then. Does this mean that we called too late?

It could be that there is a convention going on and they put everyone in that building.

It could also mean that the person you were speaking to wasn't in the mood to be nice. When you called did you just talk to the front desk or did you ask for the room controller? That is the person who assigns the rooms.

There aren't very many lagoon view rooms in Conch Key, and these are very popular, so my guess is the CM was telling you the truth. Even if you would have called earlier, you probably would have been told the same thing.

:)
