Cali, Can you book a honeymoon deluxe room for your anniversary or must you be on your honeymoon. Also are any of the deluxe concierge or honeymoon rooms in the main building smoking rooms? Thanks.

I do not know whether any of these rooms allow smoking or not. However, anyone can book them (subject to availability). My wife and I booked one for next month (for our anniversary). They did not even ask what the occasion was! Know that there are two kinds, Turret Rooms (6 octagonal rooms in the towers without balconies but with spectacular views) and ordinary Honeymoon rooms (Concierge Deluxe rooms on the Clarendon Level with Jacuzzi Tubs). They would not guarantee which kind we would get although the concierge said our request for a Turret room would "probably" be honored.

Anyone can book a honeymoon room. All of the concierge/concierge deluxe/concierge honeymoon rooms in the main building are smoking optional. The suites (throughout the entire resort) are also smoking optional.

:)

Hi Cali,

I just wanted to make sure this and the other FAQs stay at the top. I couldn't find the AKL or S/D ones. :( Without the search function, I had to go page by page to try and find them.

Thanks for the great FAQ! :)

We have two rooms booked for main building concierage next November. We would like a view of magic kingdom. How should we request this? For example, I was told that to get a Magic Kingdom view in the lodges you have to request a lagoon view. I would assume I should make the same request for the main building, but just want to be sure.

Thanks.

For MK Views in the main building, all you have to do is request a "Magic Kingdom View". But, remember these are requests only and cannot be guarenteed. :)

Cali-D (or any other GF veterans),

Which building would you say is the best, in terms of overall view, for Lagoon View rooms?

Thanks!

BrianD

Well, if you want a perfect view of Cinderella's Castle, Sago Cay or Conch Key are your best choice. If you want a good view of the entire MK Resort area (MK, CR, PR, WL) then rooms in Boca Chica would be the best. Also nice is Big Pine Key's Lagoon View of the Wedding Pavilion and the Polynesian (but you wouldn't have a view of the castle).

:)

Thanks!! I'm probably going to request Boca Chica. Now I just have to wait until December!!!

Thanks for the info & nice job on this FAQ thread.

You will love the Grand Floridian at Christmas--it was my husband's favorite out of the three we stayed at last month. We were in Big Pine Key, but I think Boca Chica would be excellent--nice view and very good location.

Yes, the GF did look great for X-mas! I even watched them take down the big Gingerbread House (it took a couple days).

I really love the Alice theme! (in Conch Key and Big Pine Key). We did not have the wallpaper (the white with the design on it), instead we had light blue walls. From walking past rooms at night and seeing in the room, it looked like most had the wallpaper, while I did notice some with the blue paint instead.

I'm torn on which "theme" I should try next time. I can choose from Swan, Floral, or go w/ Alice again. But, on our concierge stay I'll get Cameo (can't wait to try it!).

:)

Hey Cali D!!! :) Remember me?? ;) I haven't been around much since November but we might be heading down to WDW next month for a quick 4 day trip so I'm back to brush up on my Disney knowledge. :D :D

How was your trip in December???? How was the GF?? I'd love to read your trip report... could you give me a link??

It's good to be back on the DIS!!! :) What have I missed around here lately???

Hey Erika! :) I was wondering where you've been!

My stay at the GF was great. I think the thread got lost in the DIS's shuffle, so I'm not sure where it is (plus the search is down, so I can't find it!).

We were in a lagoon view room in Big Pine Key. It was on the MK side, so we were able to see the castle. But, it was really cold while we were there, so we didn't get to enjoy the balcony. I *LOVED* the Alice theme! I could see how many people don't like it, but I really did!

Too bad it was cold. We have been down there a few times during the holidays and it usually is pretty chilly. I've never stayed in Big Pine Key but I bet the view was great. ;) Did you end up staying there the whole time or splitting between 2 resorts?? How was the remodeled courtyard pool??

We're trying to figure out how to take a quick trip down to Disney next month. We miss it terribly and NEED to get back soon. :D We're probably going to stay at either OKW or PORS because they are the cheapest on property during our dates. We aren't bringing the kids so we don't mind riding the bus. We've never stayed at OKW before but we did stay at DL a couple of years ago.

Talk to you later....

:)

We also stayed at the Contemporary Tower Club (for NYE). It was also nice. A little pricy (holiday season!) but we would have spent more to stay in the GF LV than we did at the Tower Club. We had a MK View (looking over at the GF!). I could see our room @ the GF from the CR, and our room @ the CR from the GF. I'd like to stay at the Contemporary Tower again - maybe on the club level again (if I can't get the concierge level, or decide it is too expensive!).

The Courtyard Pool @ the GF was looking good, it looked fresh. There were ducks swimming in the pool a couple mornings.
