Cali, I'm sorry, but I don't have my pictures back yet. Once I get them back and if I can get access to a scanner, I'll be sure to post some pics.

I loved the view. We had a couple of palm trees right outside that were very pretty, but didn't allow for a view of the castle from anywhere in the room. However, you could see the castle from the room, and definitely from the balcony. You could see the tables from Casperilla below. During fireworks, you had to be on the right of balcony, but the view was great. We couldn't see the extreme low ones (the building on the left blocked some of the low ones), but we could see most.

As to the food served, mfisk covered breakfast. When we were there, they had coursants (sp?), blueberry muffins, a bran type muffin, cheese danish, a fruit danish, raison bran cereal, cherios, frosted flakes, bages, slices of bread (white and a cinamon raison type I think), orange juice, cranberry juice, milk, skim milk, hot chocolate, coffee, and fruit. That is all I can remember right now.

I don't remember the last service very well. I know that had different types of wines. They also had little chocolate cups for drinks (I thought they looked cool). They had cookies (peanut butter and oatmeal raison), little cupcakes for the kids, rice crispie treats, and more that I just can't think of.

That is all I can think of for now. Please forgive my spelling. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I loved when we pulled up to the resort and the guard always said "Welcome Home". The beautiful lobby takes my breath away everytime!

We have reserved 2 LV rooms and I have requested a larger LV room with 2 balconies and an adjoining regular room (non - dormer b/c they seem smaller and darker to me) or regular LV connecting rooms (since the larger 2 balcony rooms do not connect) I have now been asked to chose a preference patio vs balcony.
Any info out there on LV patio rooms? I would appreciate any inmput.
Thank you

mom of girls - your requests (corner room + adjoining room - non-dormer) is restricted to Big Pine Key.

Rooms at the GF do not have patios, only balconies (with the exception of the hospitality suites in Conch Key and Sago Cay which have huge patios).

Cali-D,
Thank you for responding. I'm surprised about the patio info as some one from GF e mailed me about chosing these preferences.

Well, then the "patios" have railings, which would actually be a balcony. They aren't open like the ones at the Polynesian are.

Okay that makes sense. Has anyone stayed in a room with these patio/balconies?
Cali-D, about my room request, I thought that there were other bldg's with a larger LV room (2 balconies) with a reg LV adjoining it. Perhaps in other bldgs the adjoining room is a suite. Do you know? Also is Big Pine Key non smoking? Is the view of MK a good one?
Maybe I'll reconsider and request 2 connecting rooms and forget about the larger corner LV room request.
Thanks

Most corner rooms adjoin to suites. Big Pine Key is non-smoking on floors 1-3, 4 and 5 is smoking optional. I think that the BPK MK View is a good one. It also has a view of all the MK Resorts.

The 1st floor balconies are just like all other balconies on the other floors (except the dormer rooms).

Cali,

I thought larger lagoon view rooms were located in Boca Chica (sp?). This is our family's first time going and I requested Larger LV in BC with MK view. I know it is a long shot. Would you change anything in this request? There are 2 adults and 2 children ages 3 & 5.

Also, I called to confirm my reservation the other day and they had me booked at WL. Should I be concerned? They said it was fixed in the computer now but, quite frankly I am nervous about our reservations being booked correctly.

Thanks,
Kathy

A GF wallpaper question.

A big thank you to all of you who have taken the time to write about your experiences at the Grand Floridian, especially CaliforniaDreaming! I actually stayed there about 6 years ago and have gotten more information from you all than I got by staying there, you are much more observant than I am!

I have seen pictures of the rooms in Big Pine Key and one has flower wallpaper and one does not. Do the Dormer rooms have the wallpaper? Are there some with and some without? Do certain locations have the wallpaper? Are there more rooms with or without wallpaper?

I know it may seem finicky but I am planning a trip to WDW and want to stay at the GF again but I really don't like busy wallpaper, it makes me jumpy and I can't relax.

Thanks for you input.

MissPluto, I am trying to find out the same thing myself! Some people say their room had it, others say it had a blue and white thing. I'm stumpted.

Cali-D,
Thank you for the great GF info--I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.

I'm staying GF lagoon view in Feb. I thought you'd be the only one to know this one. My fingers are crossed...
1. I'd like an unobstructed MK castle view room, regular balcony. 2. I'd also like non-smoking. 3. Here's the kicker...can you tell me which room/rooms have all this AND are in the most recently renovated lodge? Do any of the larger rooms fit these criteria?

BTW, at the BC, I got one of the rooms I wanted by having a list of desirable room numbers, AND I got a comp upgrade! DH says they just wanted me to leave them alone...ha-ha!

Thanks.

I stayed at the GF 7 years ago and it was beautiful! I stayed in the Conch Key Lodge-Great location! I have seen recent pics of the resort's rooms and they look very busy. Are they? I don't like busy interior decor. I prefer simple.

I'm sure it's posted here somewhere, but does anyone have the e-mail address for the Grand Floridian Concierge. My wife & I are staying there in February! Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

TINKERBELL4EVER

I feel that they look busy also (my first stay is coming up) That is the reason that I like the floral ones as they seem to be the least busy of them all. I really like the original colors the best though.

Hi all,

Thought this would be the place for advice on which bldg for a great view of MK. We will be there the first wk of Jan. Is faxing requests the best way to go or at check-in?

Also, I read somewhere along the way that the do hairwraps at one of the pools . . .any info on that. We have two daughters, 2 & 8 and our 8 yo would love that!

This thread has made me so excited for our trip!!

I have a couple of questions regarding garden view rooms. Is there an extra charge for a king bed. Does the sofa open up? In the pictures the dormer rooms look adorable. Would it be too small for 2 adults and 1 small child?

Hi! The King Bed rooms do not have an additional cost. There are available by request only--beacuse of limited availability, however, they can't guarantee your request. The dormers have two queen size beds or one king bed. However, most of the dormer rooms do not have a daybed. So, you'll need a two queen bed room in a likelihood if you want a dormer.

The daybeds do not pull out to a full sofa bed.

Hope that helps!
:p
