Thanks! I'm keeping my eye out for Ebay... occasionally one of those prints comes up....

Channing... I think you need some hot chocolate and peppermint schnaaps... Hope tomorrow is a better day...

& for everyone else... Clinique makes a fantastic sun spray - I've used it in both SPF 15 & 30 and I NEVER burn with it...it's great for your face also...just spray it into your palm and then spread it on your face. (and don't forget those ears for those of us who throw our hair up in a ponytail....)

I tried that clinique sun spray and because i have extreme sensitive skin I couldn't use it
I use MD formulations for ultra sensitive skin PLUS I LOVE LOVE LOVE bare minerals. Anyone else use Bare Minerals? they have 15 SPF:cheer2:
As I said, I used to do a lot of clinique until a friend turned me on to bare minerals and now I can't stand wearing regular foundation.

Countdown has started 1 day 18 hours to go :cheer2: :cheer2:

I was packing up my dogs' supplies for the vet and they got all excited. I think they think they are going to Disney too :rotfl:
This morning my kids were marching around the house being silly and singing M-I-C-K-E-Y ... and my dogs started following them as if it were a big parade. :lmao: what a shock it will be for them to be dropped off at the kennel tomorrow morning :scared1:

All you Illini, stay warm!!!! I'd like to see a little more snow down here in Georgia!

Grannyminnie~I am sending all snow your way right now we are in a deep freeze 2 degrees and -13 windchill :scared1:
send us Illini some of your warmth! :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me if the refurb is done for the Sugar Loaf Building? We arrive in at the GF in April? TIA

I love Bare Minerals also. I've been using them for over 2 years, and I agree that it would be hard to go back to my old foundation. However, I've found that the SPF 15 is not quite enough for me, so I first put on a moisturizer with SPF 30 (Eucerin Extra Protective). Then again, we're kind of sunscreen nuts in our family. Our kids get a full coat of spray sunscreen everyday - but we do live in California.

I am a huge Bare Minerals Fan too!! I started wearing it last year and would never go back! I love that even in the heat and humidity of WDW that I can put it on in the AM and know it is still there in the PM (especially their eye make-up!! Eyeliner used to always be gone by noon!!!)

Have a terrific time and remember to take lots of pictures!!

Bare Minerals....

Ok guys, totally OT, but how do I get started with these??? I have seen the commercials on TV for the "kit" , but how do I know that's my color tone to use?? It seems pretty generic to buy it that way.:confused3 I am a 41 yr old that HATES foundation and that icky itchy feel, so would I like this stuff?? I am starting to look at my face and feel like I need some little extra boost, haha.

Any suggestions? Do you all use the whole make up line? Is there one?? Or is it just the foundation and "glow" or whatever?? Will that powder bother my contacts? I had that issue with another loose powder I bought.

THANKS,
Channing :)

Channing,

Go to Ulta... they have it there and you can play with it. (Or better yet, let one of their people play with it for you!)
They sell the starter kit which gives 2 tones of foundation, a concealer, Mineral Veil (which is like powder) and a couple of the brushes. It also comes with a DVD which shows you how to do it. I am a fair blonde so in the winter I use the light foundation. In the summer when I actually get some color, I switch to medium and add some of the faux tan if I need to deepen it. The biggest key, especially in the winter, is to make sure you put on a moisturizer first.

They also sell tons of other kits (Beyond the Basics gives you more of the highlighting face colors like Glee, Warmth, Bare Radiance etc. There are eye kits, cheek kits etc. Most of the kits come with more brushes). And they sell all the regular stuff a la cart.

You're from Chicagoarea right? There is also a Bare Escentuals store at Woodfield Mall(I think in the Nordstroms wing)- not sure how far you are from that....

I made the switch last spring and am so glad I did. At first I couldn't do it in 90 seconds like the girls on the DVD do, but now I can put my whole "face" on in less than 5 minutes  and don't have to retouch it AT ALL during the day. You don't feel like you have makeup on at all, yet your skin tone is nice an even... I can't say enough good things about it!

ETA: I use the whole line. I don't wear contacts anymore (I had LASIK 3 years ago) and don't have any issues with it.

channing ... you would love this stuff! I call it my crayons for big girls:rotfl:
1. locate a Sephora's near your hometown : http://www.sephora.com/help/stores/index.jhtml
That would be the best as they sell it in the store and you can match your skin tones and they can teach you how to put it on... as it is different then regular makeup
2. If you don't have one near you try this site:
http://www.bareescentuals.com/
it helps you pick out the skin tones best for you and the starter packs are GREAT. They come with a DVD to help you learn what to put where....

I too wear contacts and I haven't had any issues with Bare minerals and contacts (my mom is the same way...) if you apply BM correctly, you use only a teeny tiny amount (less is WAY better when it comes to BM) you swirl the brush and tap it 3x to get rid of the extra. Even though it LOOKS to be in powder form, it really goes on soooo smooth. I have yet to meet someone who HATED BMs

I used to be a die hard Clinique/ Estee Lauder chick until I tried this stuff.
It beats anything else in the market hands down! I really like the well rested eye shadow for taking "age" and blue tint out of the lid. Great stuff!!!
(no, I don't sell it.... I wish I did though so I could get a discount :rotfl: )
I also love their new "meet the stones" quad eyeshadow. I have always been into mauves and browns as I have bright green eyes. I never thought I would like the stones but WOW WOW WOW when I put those greys on my eyes popped out of my skull :rotfl:

Bare minerals doesn't sink into your pores like liquid make up does so its healthier for your skin.... keeps down wrinkles and break outs BIG time.
So we don't get too off topic, if you have any Questions about bare minerals please PM and I can help you out.

OKAY so back to the GF talk.... guess what? I have 1 day and 16 hours until I am there :rotfl:

Kristin, THANKS for the info. Yes, I am about a 40 minute drive NW of Woodfield, but I HATE to go there!!!!! :scared: I actually used to work in a boutiquey store there about 20 yrs ago & totally know my way around, but it's so big now & crowded I don't enjoy going.

I will try Ulta. :thumbsup2 We have one and I have lived here for 10 years and been in once! I should go explore.:goodvibes I am just not one to like to take more than 2 minutes to put my make up on.:rolleyes1 I don't enjoy doing it, don't like to put too much on, or get creative with it. It's not fun for me.

What I have found with other powder type makeups I've tried is (I have dry skin) it makes my skin look "flat" and lifeless. Does the Bare Minerals have that effect or is there a nice "glow" or shimmer about it - or I guess maybe that's what the GLOW is for?? :confused3 :confused3

I have heard so many people say they love the stuff, but I never really thought about starting using it. It seems overwhelming! Thanks for the Ulta suggestion. :) I will go & sometime when I am already in Woodfield I will head over there to their store, too. I didn't realize they had one there. When I go to the Nordstrom's wing it's to go to Brighton!:thumbsup2

Channing :)

Kristin,
Have you tried the tinted mineral veil? I too am very fair and I find the warmth to be too dark for my skin... sometimes in the summer I can use it but just a tiny tiny amount. Instead I use the tinted mineral veil to give my face some color... but not too much color KWIM?
I will use the tinted mineral veil just as I would the regular mineral veil and I get great results every time.

Also, do you do the mineral veil sandwich? I LOVE IT! I don't have to touch up my face at all... ALL DAY!

Just catching up ...

I have been wearing Bare Minerals for about 18 months now and I cannot imagine wearing liquid foundation ever again!!!

I just ordered some new colors for my trip too ... Praline, that is a perfect description. It is like crayons for big girls. :rotfl:

Anyone who watches the infomercials and is hesistant about getting it, try it. It's amazing.

Ok ... Now back to GF talk, I asked for a few things to be in the room when we arrive through IPO ... I can't believe our trip is almost here!

Have a great day, everyone!

I also have very dry skin.

I always put a moisturizer on under my make up. The kits come with this bare vitamins serum you apply before moisturizer (takes 10 seconds really ...)
it REALLY keeps the skin from looking "powdery or flat"

It is definitely NOT like powder. It is much more reflective. I use the concealer under my eyes and across my eyelids, then two rounds of the foundation and then dust Bare Radiance all over my face. For blush I use a TINY bit of Warmth. I forget the name of the eyecolor I use but it is a light beige. I use a dark purple (looks brown) elyeliner (Hey, I think it is called PRALINE!!:lmao: ) but put it on wet. I also use their waterproof mascara and have a lip kit called champagne something or another (it is a liner, lipstick and lip gloss). Like I said (including a quick curl of my eyelashes) the whole process takes about 4.5 minutes.
Praline, thanks for the tips on well rested- next time I get to Ulta I will try it.
Channing, I am not a big fan of Woodfield anymore either. I remember when it was only crowded at Christmastime, now it seems like it is like that year round!!

I have never tried the tinted version. It blows by mind how I can be so pasty white in the winter and actually tan in the summer!!! When I use the warmth, I use such a tiny sprinkle and I really swirl it around to make sure it get s ditributed in my handi buki brush (:rotfl: don't you love their names!!). I just run it across my cheeks as a blush- no where else.

Next time your over at your store, test out the tinted mineral veil.... I am serious I betcha you will like it better ... I was leary until my mom had me try hers.. now I never use my warmth.

The ONLY thing I have trouble with are the glimmers ... I just can't seem to get the right water/powder ratio (don't worry channing this is more advanced stuff... not the basics) I tried doing glimmers for a New Years eve party and just couldn't get it right.

Oh I love getting new colors in! I joined the eye shadow club just so I could get new color eye shadows every few months :rotfl:

What colors did you get?
My current favs are the meet the stones quad, I really like noble, well rested, in the summer I like wearing bare skin as it gives a little sparkle to the eye but is more skin toned.

I have never tried to wet my glimmers, I just put them on dry and they are still nice and shimmery...
I will add the tinted to my list!!

:flower3: Over on the Eye Candy thread on the CB we have a ritual of posting a picture whenever we get off topic! :rotfl:

Here is a GF shot from the ME busstop!

When I talked to CRO this morning to add some days, the CM told me that there may be construction going on in the lobby in June!?!:scared1: I know the floors are being retiled but I would think that they would be done by then! I don't want to pay for RPC if the lobby isn't done and construction is going on!
So, if anyone hears anything from a CM about when it is supposed to be completed, I would definitely appreciate it!:thumbsup2
Have fun!:)
