The *NEW* Grand Floridian Resort and Spa FAQ thread (Nov 2007)

Well, I did it. I booked a standard room at the RPC, for August 23-31. And I got a AAA discount for the room. The CM was actually surprised I was able to get a AAA discount for a concierge-level room. Is it true these are difficult to get?

I wanted to get a concierge-level deluxe room in the main building, but there was none available. Are there only a limited number of these rooms? Should I continue to call and try to get one of these rooms?

I also requested a lagoon-view room, but the CM assured me that no view from the main building is bad. Is that correct?

Thanks for everyone's help so far. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions as our dates get closer and closer ...

We were able to get a AAA discount last year in May for our trip but in December there is no AAA discounts avaliable for some reason this year. We had a standard room last year and I was so afraid it would be bad but the view was fantastic and we were right off the main lobby on the 4th floor so close to the food and we could see the fire works from the 4th floor lobby if we wanted and watched the electric light parade every night. Have a great time and be prepared to be spoiled.

not all rooms from teh main building are castle views, but they are still all good views IMO!!! you will love it!

Well after all the flip-flopping and constant debating, we finally booked our stay at the GF. We got a room only reservation through AAA and plan on buying Annual passes for the parks, as we plan on returning this Dec for our first view of WDW during the holidays. We could only get a GV room, as that was all that was available with a AAA discount. Not surprised since we waited way to long to make a decision and book it.

We haven't made any room/building requests as we're really not sure what we would be asking for.....yet. We did however snag an ADR for Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge during our stay. I know my DW and DD's are gonna love that, and knowing that brings a huge smile to my face.

I have more questions, but I'll post back with them later. As for now we need to go curl up on the couch and watch all the shows saved on our DVR as it's over 90% full.

You can get AP and AAA discounts for conceirge rooms I get it all the time.

Yes I did I thought about opening one and then still posting the pics in the GF FAQ thread. The search isnt always working here and the FAQ threads are sticky'ed so they are easy to find.

Maybe we could do both ....

I second that!!! Now that we are definitely headed for the GF, I'd love to see more "candid" shots of the resort.

If you have any pictures of things like a close up of the Tink on the bed spreads and close up the differents characters in the carpet. I really wanted pictures of that stuff but with four kids our hands were full........

Quick cabana questions...i am thinking of booking one for our down day as a surprise so my questions if anyone knowd...

1. what are the time blocks you can book for
2. can I book it now or do i have to wait til that day?
3. Is the stocked fridge items extra or included
5. do you get a "cabana boy" ?
6. and lastly..anyone know the current $$ ?
