We have a garden view booked at this time, do you think I will be sorry if I do not request anything?

Part of me is just not sure what I want. We are not in our room that much to pay for a more expensive view and honestly we have been pretty lucky and have not had crummy views so far (keeping our fingers crossed for this trip as well)

I am not sure which building I would most like to be in, because you have monorail transport and boat and they are both in different place and then Gasparillas is in another location...

I would love to have a view of the Wedding Pavilion(since we were married there and this is our anniveasary), but not sure that would obviously happen in a reg GV room...and do not really want to pay that much more for it, when we really are not going to be there THAT much to enjoy it. I just do not want to be looking at a dumpster. Hahaha..

Any sugguestions to those of you who go with a full list of requests vs those of you who wing it? (When we stay BC, I always request). The only thing I would really like to have is a non 1st floor room.

I don't always request. For our first 2 trips we never even thought to request. At POR we requested the mansions, at AKL we requested nothing and got upgraded to Savannah.

Last year at the GF I requested Conch Key, dormer room. We couldn't get the dormer if we were in Conch (which we wanted since it was the only rehabbed outer building at the time) but they gave us a marina view. I LOVED IT!! We have only requested Marina View this year since it is most important to us.

BUT having a ground floor room was the next best thing, IMO. Since DS is still stroller bound most of the time, that was just one less elevator to have to deal with!

The one advantage to a ground floor room was not having to wait for the elevator!!:thumbsup2

thank you for the info. so is a child seat required when traveling from gf to ak or dtd? do the streets belong to disney? will the cabs take you without the car seat?
thanks

If I order a cake through in room dining for my little Princess, will they deliver it for me while we are at the park? Is there any way to do this (so she will think the cake is from Mickey)?
Also, If I buy a stuffed mickey would the lobby concierge have someone put it in our room while we are out? (same reason!)

I know this might be possible if we were staying concierge level, but hubby wouldn't go for that this time. So this is about a GV room.

Thanks for any thoughts!
:) Sheli

They will deliver a cake for you and set it up in the room while you are away if you make the appropriate arrangements for delivery at the time of ordering (i.e. Wednesday between 6pm and 7pm) and make sure you aren't there at that time. We did it last year!

I can't speak for the Mickey since I had a whole gift basket made from an outside source and delivered, but I requested at check in that the basket be delivered 2 hours after check in to ensure we weren't there when it arrived.

Hi guys- I need some much needed GF lovers advice! I have been stressing out about this all day!

I have made my Christmas Reservation for Dec 23-28 and then moving to BCV. I booked SL but now I am getting cold feet on the price (or at least my husband is!!:sad2:

The price for SL during the holiday season is $775.00 during the week and $795.00 on weekends. The GV is $605.00 and $625.00 on the weekends.

I really want this to be a special trip because first of all...it is Christmas (my favorite holiday!) and it is my 10th Anniversary.

For those of you that have stayed both or if you have not...what would you do. It is already expensive enough during the holidays. Would you spring for SL or just stick with GV???

First let me preface by saying I have never stayed concierge. I stayed Sugar Loaf on my honeymoon before it was concierge. We have never stayed RPC.

That being said, I wouldn't pay the upgrade to SL since it is still an outer building. Part of the appeal of RPC (for me) is that it is in the main building- not that it offers concierge. I wouldn't stay SL just for the concierge. I would take the GV view and never look back!! We stayed GV for our 10th anniversary this past August and it was great. We marked it on our ressie and got the anniversay buttons at check in, a split bottle of champagne with a rose and signed card from Cinderella and Prince Charming in our room the first night. They gave us a marina view, which was lovely.

HTH!

Thanks for the advice. I am going to get a quote today for GV. I just think I will feel a little better about it. I was hoping the staff at SL would help me the gifts etc that I will ship down before the trip but I am sure the staff at GF will also do this.

Now if I switch...need to choose a room location!

One last thing. I take it that the rooms facing the main pool, wedding pavilion area are lagoon view from Big Pine?? Is that correct?

What is the best GV building? :confused3 Everyone seems to have different opinions.

I too have never stayed RPC, instead we add a couple of days to our vacation. Our GV room was the Big Pine Key!! It faced the quite pool and was absolutely beautiful. We too have a small bottle of Korbel waiting for us with a card from Cindy and Prince Charming.

I think one day I might splurge for the RPC in the main building ONLY. Other wise I can't see a reason to spend that money. Our room had a beautiful view and was close to everything!

Good luck with your decision, think of this way. There is NO bad choice, it the GF and its WDW!!!!:wizard:

We like the marina view rooms (which would be Conch or Sago). They are close to the main building (but farther from the pools). The castle is also viewable from the marina. Some of those rooms would definitely have a castle view (not straight on, but turn your head and you'll see it). We were on the ground floor looking out at the Grand One. It was great!

Well...I changed. My poor TA!!;) Went to GV and requested Boca Chica with a higher floor. I thought maybe I would get a view of the castle and still close to the pool (and the pool bar :rotfl: )

Thanks for everyone's help. I feel much better about this decision.

Yup! :thumbsup2 There are NO parking lot views at the GF...

vbarry- I think you made the right choice... now you can spend some of that extra money on cabana rentals and spa treatments! :goodvibes
