I just realized that I never commented on My Best Friend's Girl. I took ages until I even got around to buying it, but once I started it, I could not put it down. Yes, there are some aspects like the birth certificate that do not quite ring true, but it is a work of fiction after all. I have to admit that I was hoping that Luke and Camryn would get together in the end. The first part of the book was quite sad and moving, but I loved all of it.

Thanks for your comments on My Best Friend's Girl, Corinna.

I'll be honest now as I only started this month's book at the end of last week and am only half way through it. I'm enjoying it immensley but must say how "quaint" I'm finding things - no mobile phone, twin floppy PC (or should I say home computer?), lots of smoking in public places - I was shocked that it was only written at the beginning of the 90s.

I should be finished soon so I'll add proper comments then.

I read this when I suggested it, but really need to read it again.

ive nearly finished it now but i wanted to say how much i agree with your comments.... the way Marino reacts to the AIDS topic is extremely outdated and highlights how much attitudes have changed for the better.

I finally finished it today! (I did take it on a 3 day residential trip with year 3, earlier this week, but funnily enough didn't have any time to read it then.)

I loved this book. Not a wonderous work of literature but a good story that kept me guessing until the end. Anyone whose name started with M was a suspect to me.

It was all rather unbelievable - a bit like Quincy, why would a medical examiner be do the detective work?

I did love the descriptions of the Keys and now am wondering if I'd like to visit there.

As I said before it was all rather dated in the technology and attitudes to AIDS and smoking.

There were rather a lot of characters but I just about kept up with them (frequent references and recalls in the plot helped a lot here.)

I think it could make a gripping TV drama.

Is anyone else still joining in with the book club? We have just 2 books left on the list. This month's book is Persuasion by Jane Austen.

I don't think I'll start a new list when this one finishes as I think we've all got what we wanted from the club i.e. to read some authors or genres that we haven't tried before. I've certainly been reading a lot of new books but I also have a backlog of other titles that I want to be reading.

After the last book has been discussed I will start a new thread for summer reading suggestions but just a casual thing, not a book club/discussion group.

I have persuasion and have read it some time ago - a lot of pressure at work at the mo so I probably won't have the time to read it.

i have really enjoyed this book club and have read a lot of books that are now firm favourites of mine- thanks so much for orgainising Libby:hug:

I'll still be reading to the end of the list as I am able to and I wouldn't want to ignore other people's suggested titles just because I happened to put them near the end of the list.

I'll give a little review for each and if anyone else is able to add something that would be good.

The book for this month is Persuasion by Jane Austen.
