...Has anyone requested a King CL room or know how many king Concierge rooms there are (Not in the Lodge) and what the view is???

Docsknotinn, my guess is that the bulk of the concierge rooms with king-size bedding arrangements are found in the Honeymoon Rooms on the 2nd floor of the Main Building. Those rooms overlook the marina and thus have a Magic Kingdom / Cinderella Castle View.

CaliforniaDreaming might have further information regarding king resort rooms and what their views might be. Hopefully, he'll add his comments.

I should also mention that most of the resort’s suites have a king-sized bed in their master bedroom. I stayed in two different two-bedroom suites in Conch Key and the master bedrooms had that bedding arrangement (click here for Cypress Suite's master bedroom photos). Just thought I’d mention that in case you’re interested in booking a suite.

I was able to book a pool cabana today...

Jacksmom, did they tell you how your payment will be processed? Will there be an automatic charge to your room bill or will they charge your credit card? Did they tell you where to go in order to claim your cabana? That is, do you check-in at the pool's gift shop or do you just show up in Cabana Number "X"? I'm curious as to how the resort will be handling things. Any information that you can share will be appreciated.

Cabana info: I had to give a credit card # to reserve and was told I had a 24 hour cancelation period. I was told my credit card would not be charged for the hold (only charged I guess if we don't show up??). I was also told if they had to cancel for increment weather (she specifically mentioned wind) that they would reschedule for me (I suppose I would also not be charged if couldn't reschedule??). I was told to check in that morning of my rental with the life quard for my cabana. I also asked how many cabanas they had and was told "several" and that they were at the main pool with a view of the lagoon! :cheer2: If there is anything I left off, that you would like to know just let me know! :rotfl:

The concierge I spoke with told me there was only ONE of these new cabanas.....hmmmmm...... Just wondering. There were 3 of the other type when we were there in Nov. I have no idea what it's like so it will be fun to try it out.

I have mine reserved for an afternoon. It was done thru email, so they didn't give me any checkin info or anything, didn't take my cc, but it was probably on file. Just gave me a confirmation number when it was a done deal.

I spoke with concierge on the phone regarding prepurchasing some items and I was told a bit about the cabana, but not these details so hey're good to know!

Jacksmom & Lives4Disney, thank you for the information. Hopefully, the miscommunication will be cleared up soon regarding the cabana rental pilot program.

I have photos in an on-line album of the cabanas that have been used up until now: click here. My photos show four cabanas located at the backside of the pool deck (one cabana is somewhat obscured by the bathhouse). I am curious to see if the number of cabanas changes. I am also curious to see if any cabanas will be added along the shoreline of Seven Seas Lagoon.

Since each cabana will contain an LCD television, a Sirius satellite radio, a telephone, and a mini-refrigerator, I am wondering if the cabanas will be upgraded to something a little more secure than what has been used in the past. If not, those items would have to be removed from the cabanas nightly unless a storage unit is put in place inside each cabana.

I look forward to seeing everyone’s photos of the new cabana setup. Friends of mine will be vacationing at the Grand Floridian this summer and they are contemplating renting a cabana. Your photos will help them decide whether or not they should.

Hi...I just started trying to read all 107 pages of this thread...
1) what are the offerings of the RPC? Any pictures?
2) Any pictures of the rooms or views there?
3) Does the concierge contact us with an itinerary? We stayed at BC Concierge last year, they sent out a planner for us to fill out. Does GF do that as well, or do I need to contact them first? If I need to contact them, who do I contact?

Boy, Minnie824, you’ve got your work cut out for you (there are now 108 pages to read and it can be quite chatty at times). I don’t envy your reading assignment one bit. ;)

The Internet (and this FAQ thread) is filled with all sorts of information regarding the Grand Floridian Resort. Try searching via Yahoo or Google. Also, don’t forget to check out the info that is found on the Dis website, the Dreams Unlimited Travel website (sponsor of the Dis), the AllEarsNet website, and the OurLaughingPlace website, amongst others.

I have a few personal photo albums regarding the Grand Floridian Resort. Click here for my main on-line album. In there, you’ll find albums that contain photographs of the various resort rooms, the concierge lounges (and food offerings), and even the children’s programs. Just scroll down to the albums that begin with “GF.”

The concierge may or may not contact you in advance. I have experienced it both ways. I have also received a pre-planning packet on a few occasions, but not always. If your vacation date is approaching, consider contacting the concierge now. I don’t have their e-mail or phone number handy, but you can always contact the resort directly and ask to be connected to their Itinerary Planning Office (IPO). If you happen to get the IPO’s voice mailbox, simply leave them a message with your name, reservation number, arrival date, and contact information. They'll get back to you as soon as they are able.

Have fun planning your vacation.

I like the option of reserving one and the added amenities...

I agree, TammiMcMan, the added amenities do sound nice. I shared the pilot program info with Nutz4dzny the other day and that was her exact same comment. She was the one who had reserved the cabana at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego for our two families last year. Since she treated my family to vacation, I didn't dare ask her for any pricing information. I have a funny feeling, however, that the Grand Floridian's cabana rental price is similar to what the Hotel del Coronado charges.

We are inquiring as to the size of a daybed. Would someone 5 ft 7 in be able to fit? We have 2q booked with a daybed but I'm afriad my daughter may be too tall and they say there are no rollaways at the GF which I find surprising. Thanks for the help!

My 15 1/2 yr old son fits (tight, but he does). I think he is at least 5'7''. He didn't mind the daybed on our Thanksgiving trip. They DO have rollaways!! Just so you know! If the daybed just doesn't work, definitely request one - or bring your own aero bed. We have done that on occasion, too, because sometimes my girls fuss about sharing a bed - neither of them sleeps too well with the other pulling covers, kicking, moving too much.....you get the picture!

Happy planning!!

Hi, everyone! I've been absent for a while because I had this baby thing to deal with :teeth: . But I've finally gotten caught up on life (somewhat) and came over to see how things are in my favorite Disney Resort. I'm so excited to read about these new pool cabanas! I'm just salivating at the thought of a new luxury to add to the GF. Can't wait to get the reports back from Jacksmom and Lives4Disney!

I've missed you all...and I've missed Disney even more. Can't wait til my next trip, but it'll be another year and a half. Gotta wait for the baby to get big enough to enjoy it (and need to accrue more time off after taking 12 weeks of maternity leave!).

Hugs to all!

Thanks so much!
Janet2K and TammiMcMan -our Dis GF specialists do you agree that someone 5ft 7 or 8 in will fit comfortably or should I think about a second room? I called and asked the hotel but they don't know how long the daybed is!

Thedisneymom, that's a great question. I wish I had the answer.

Here are two photos of the daybed:
Photo # 1
Photo # 2

In Photo # 2, my daughter wasn't quite 5 feet tall. There are a couple of inches between her head and the left side of the daybed, and a couple of inches between her feet and the right side of the daybed. Since most people don't sleep in a straight line but rather curled up a little bit, your family member just might fit. However, if you think they would be too uncomfortable, definitely consider booking two rooms.

I just read back a few posts and saw that Lives4Disney's teenage son fit on the daybed and he was approximately the same height that you inquired about, Thedisneymom. That's good info to have.

Hey, CaliforniaDreaming -- what was your height the last time you slept on a daybed at the Grand Floridian? The more info we can gather, the better.

I would say that 5'6 would be comfortable lengthwise. Beyond that, I think it would be tough to stretch out. As Janet mentioned though, most people do sleep a little more curled up. My son was 5'7 or 5'8 the last time he slept in the daybed and he didn't complain at all.

Yes, It would be great to actually get the length of the daybed mattress. My daughter has extremely long legs and is hitting the 5'8" mark. I was looking at the picture of your daughter but it is so difficult to tell. If anyone has a trip planned-any chance you might bring a tape measure? :teeth:

Thedisneymom, when will you be at the Grand Floridian?

Yes, when are you going??? We will be checking in to the GF next Sunday, March 26. I plan on my son using the daybed. I will let you know the measurements and how it worked out (or didn't) when I get back after April 4.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I am packing today!!!! We are flying out Thursday night for some "firsts" - trying PBH and the Nick hotel before WDW. Just stopped to check accuweather for the temps before I do and of course check the GF thread! ;)

Happy travels!
