. We loved sitting at Gasparilla's and eating dinner outside, watching the Castle and Marina. It is just lovely. I think if you had a Marina view closest to the main bldg, you *might* be able to see the Castle if you leaned out and looked right.

We loved sitting out there, also! And yes. If you looked to the right from the balcony you can see the fireworks. :) Our 4dd was just about out one night when the fireworks started (they are LOUD) and we went out on the balcony to watch. :goodvibes

triplefigs & CaliforniaDreaming,
Thanks! We had a great day!
Yes, and your room looks familiar too :rotfl:

I forgot to say, every night with the cordials they had GINGERBREAD! They were small rounded pieces (like cookies). One was covered in a white chocoate bark and one had milk chocolate coated on the bottom. I bought some gingerbread from the house our first afternoon and then loved getting some with my hot chocolate every night!

Here is the Gingerbread House brochure from the Grand Floridian.

Triplefigs,

Hope the triples are all okay now...

If you don't mind my asking....do you think my family would be happy staying where we are in the main building or moving over to SL? I am getting very anxious about this trip and have read some not nice things about RPC lately.

I am so glad you had a great trip! If I can get over my anxiety I would be able to look forward to ours!

- I know you aren't asking for my opinion, but I just got back from a GF RPC stay with my family (DH and 3 kids - 5, 9. and 15) It was just wonderful. The staff was great, housekeeping was perfect, lounge stocked with yummy goodies all day long......Just a great stay. We will be going back for a week in March. Of the deluxes we have stayed (CR, Poly, BWI, YC/BC, S/D and GF) the GF is my husband's favorite, and when he is with us at WDW it is the only resort he wants to stay in.

I don't know where you have read not so nice things about RPC lately. I have stayed SL, too, but absolutely prefer the main building - especially at Xmas!! They play Christmas music in the lobby (beautiful) that you can enjoy while relaxing in the concierge lounge, snacking on gingerbread and champagne! You can smell the life size lobby gingerbread house even up in the 4th floor lounge!

You will LOVE LOVE LOVE the GF main building. Don't let one or two bad reviews sway you. I have let other reviews sway me too many times and lived to regret it. I actually just had a HORRID stay at BWI concierge before moving to GF. I had only heard stories of people that loved it & I was sooooo excited to try it, but our stay was awful. I mean AW FUL. I have been going to WDW several time a year for about 13 years now and never tried BWI. Now I know why! I was so convinced that that place would be wonderful based on other reviews. Ugh. My message for you is stick with YOUR choice. If you really want the main buiding, go with it. I have had only one not so great stay there, and they REALLY worked hard to make it up to us. (and they have big time over and over again.) With BWI, I am still waiting for the management call that THEY volunteered we would be getting on Monday, Nov 28. NO call yet. (Dec 10)

Just make sure that while at the GF if things such as service, housekeeping, etc are not up to what you expected you let them know the problem then and there. Something will be done for you to make it right. That has been my experience with the GF. They do want to make guests happy. :flower:

Enjoy & happy planning!!

there are always negative posts about the RPC and i can't figure them out...
we LOVE the RPC and have always had wonderful service....

as Lives4Disney said, if you have a problem, let them know...they'll make every effort to take care of it...

We are going to GF on 12/18 just for 1 night because of the Mickey's party that night. I can only get a Garden view room, everything else is sold out. I am hoping something opens up when I check in that morning. I would love to be able to stay at RPC once!!! :flower:

We loved SL, but if you have RPC I'd stick with it. I would like to try it, but the money difference is a lot for us and we aren't in the room much. For us, SL was great because it was smaller and I liked having the concierge staff right there in the lobby. Food is identical. It was convenient to the marina, bus stop. But I definitely think that RPC would be worth trying!

Have fun, and DS is all better.

Thank you to everyone for the good vibes about RPC. I have wanted to stay there since the first time I saw it...probably when it was first built. Then I saw the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego....

I know it is silly but I am getting very anxious about this trip as it will be our last one as a 3 adult family for a while...it is too hard to get time off for DB and me...plus animal care gets quite pricey! So this is our grand finale and as the "official" planner I feel responsible! Silly....but that is me!

Okay....taking a deep breath and letting go of the worry...goodness....if this is my biggest worry right now I am a pretty lucky lady!

You guys are GREAT!

Well, I just contacted the IPO staff with our info for NEXT year! YIPEE! Put in our request for our lodge tower room again. I also relayed to them how much we enjoyed our stay and how good the staff was.

Anybody know who to write at the GF to thank them and mention Andy and Robert (CMs at SL) who were so kind and gracious?

I'm so excited. I'm planning for next year and you all turned me into a GF FANATIC!!!!!!!!

Hi All :wave2: ,

We're back! We thoroughly enjoyed SL. The Main building was packed every time we tried to walk through that we were glad to go back to our quiet lodge. It was difficult to get by the hoards of people around the gingerbread house and 1900 PF with my stroller. I have never seen the GF so congested.

NOW FOR THE FUNNY PART.

A man sitting on the bench outside of SL tried to pick up my 70 year old mother. She was waiting for us outside of the building. He asked her if she wanted to drink champagne with him. :rotfl: He was around 30 and very GQ looking. We strongly suspect that he was a male escort. ;) I even saw him sitting on the same bench the next day. I guess he makes a decent living hanging around concierge buildings. :rotfl2:
