Wow- it took me 3 days but I just read all 156 pages :cheer2:

Loved all the info.

Livesfordisney- You pictures and family are beautiful- thanks for sharing.

Triplefigs- adorable triplets. We are also going down for halloween in Sept. Hitting MNSSHP on the 29th. Which party are you attending?

Now for my questions- We are staying for 3 or 4 nights next Dec. Spltting a stay with WL. I want main building and was wondering how far in advance you can book with AAA?

If we did stay in SL would we be able to request the room that Triplefigs had with 3 teenagers?

Yes, once you book with Concierge, email IPO and request a Lodge Tower room. The numbers are 6220, 6320, 6420. It would be plenty of room with 3 teenagers.

Thanks for the compliments on my kiddos. We will be at MNSSHP on 9/29. We have ADRs at LTT for 5:15pm. We're going as Wendy (me), John Darling (DH), Tink (DD), Captain Hook (DS), and Peter Pan (DS). Hope to see you there!

Just wanted to say that we just returned from the Poly, and we found oursleves spending more time at the GF, than at the Poly! I have finally gotten my wife to agree, that there is no better WDW resort experience than the GF! So now, we can't wait to go back there in Dec. '07 and we are going to go for RPC. My wife is big on getting a MK view, but even she agreed that the added service of concierge would be worth it, even if we don't get that view. So, in order to pull off RPC we're going to have to cut back to one WDW trip per year. But that's ok, it will help prevent burnout, although I think I could live at the GF!

Hi, gang. I'm still here in Walt Disney World. I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread yet (sorry about that). Hopefully, I'll get to do so this week (if my daughter lets me, that is).

As I was waiting to check into my resort today, I created a little video clip of the Grand Floridian's water slide. I can't remember who asked about the water slide, but I did shoot some video of it as I went down it the other day. Enjoy!

Click here for video clip of the Grand Floridian's water slide.

I am so glad someone sent me over here to read Janet's trip reports - I just love reading (ok living vicarously thru!!) about the magic!! :) If you stop in Janet, do know that I booked the GF Pirate Cruise based on a trip report from your dd!! I read it out loud to my dd9, and she cant wait!! So thank you for spreading the magic!!

(so there's the post on resorts asking about the Pirate cruise, and someone from here posted... so of course I came a runnin to check it out!! :) )

 Janet - Thanks for checking in!! Love that you added video!! :goodvibes

Eeyore45, thank you for letting me know that you could view the video clip. Google recently changed the way that they handle video submissions. I was amazed that my video clip could be viewed as soon as I uploaded it (in the past it sometimes took several days before anyone could view it).

Everyone, if I get back to my resort room at a reasonable hour tonight, I promise I will share photos of my turret room. The room truly was lovely and my daughter & I felt like princesses in it.

I have been ill with a sore throat and laryngitis for well over a week now. I have tried very hard not to let it slow down the fun that my daughter has been having with our friends, but all this go-go-go stuff has definitely taken a toll on me. The last of our friends headed home this afternoon, so maybe now I can pass out at a reasonable hour and sleep in a little bit (that will be hard to do tomorrow since my daughter is attending the Albatross Cruise in the AM).

Before I close, I thought I would mention that my daughter and I dined on the 3rd floor balcony the other night. I have photos of it to share. We really had a very relaxing dinner. And, believe it or not, we unexpectedly dined with a real live prince that night. My lips are sealed as to who he was, but once you view the photographs, I think you’ll recognize him. ;)

Only in the most magical place on earth could you have a glass slipper delivered to you while doing laundry, and then have a real live prince join you for dinner. Have I mentioned lately just how much I love vacationing in Walt Disney World? Well, I do, ~sigh.~

for late next summer with AAA discount (probably room only). I will probably call to book this December, after this trip. What exactly do I ask for when calling CRO? Where can I find 2007 pricing and what room code do I use for my request to know what the $ is?

Thanks

Hi! :wave2:

I have a LV room booked for 9/29 to 10/3/06. I have requested Sago Cay with a view of the castle. I stayed in Sago Cay in 2000 for my honeymoon in a dormer room with a king bed - it was AMAZING! I loved the high ceilings.

Now, I'm tossing around the idea to upgrade to RPC. It's another $825, so that is holding me back a bit.

I also read that the castle will be undergoing changes at this time for the new celebration beginning Oct. 1st.

IF I get the LV I requested (the castle) - and yes I know it's by request only until 2007 - will the construction of the castle make the view worthless? Does anyone know if the scaffolding will only be at the base so that the spires will still be visible?

I think I'd rather pay for the amenities in RPC than the LV that might be less than stellar. What would you do?

Also, do you think I'd be able to pass up RPC as a "free" upgrade to my DH who would absolutely FLIP if he knew what it cost? (PS - the money I use to pay for our Disney trips is in a totally different bank account that only I have access to. Basically, I put $$$ in it for all the WDW vacations - that way we never put anything on a cc).

THANKS for all thoughts!!!

They are going to be repainting the castle but the work will only be done at night using cranes (that will be lowered during the day). There won't be scaffolding blocking the spires or anything like that, even at night. So during the day, the view will look the same. Now, at night, I could see things looking a little different in that you might sometimes see that crane and rather than having the castle change colors all night long like it normally does, they might have brighter white light on it so that the painters can see what they're doing. That wouldn't prevent me from going with that view.

As for slipping RPC past your husband as a free upgrade, that depends on your husband. :teeth: I know I would have a hard time pulling that off with my wife as she is always asking, "now how much was this room?" Best advice is to convince him that it is worth it! :thumbsup2

Lives4Disney,
Love your pictures! What a great B'day present. That suite looks wonderful :cloud9: You have the most adorable family. Glad you had a great vacation. I tried to ask you on another thread, What kind of dog is that? He or she is so cute with the swim goggles. :lmao:

I did this to BF. He would go crazy if he knew the price, but it's my money and I want our trip to be special without him feeling guilty for me having spent so much.

THANKS for the sweet words.....OH yeah it was a great birthday! :wizard: I still smile when I think about how wonderful it was. :goodvibes My Tatum is a Newfoundland (Newfie) and she is the most AWESOME dog I have ever owned. Everybody that meets her is amazed by her. Newfoundlands are a fabulous, smart, gentle breed. She is a doll (teddybear ;) ).

Amy - tell us more about what happened at the GF! (If you don't mind) About how you booked RPC and wound up in SL......What happened!!!??? I am just really curious. I hope you got the room rate difference for SL and didn't pay for RPC. What happened!!? :guilty:

Lives4Disney :)

I want to see the Prince picture Janet :)

we are going the end of October and I will be paying off the trip in August. If a general room code comes out after I have paid the balance in full, will they issue a credit? Do codes even apply to RPC??

Actually, I was lucky and I caught this on paper thanks to this thread. I recieved my confirmation telling me how much money was still owed and it stated that we were booked for Lodge concierge, which I knew from reading on here was SL, though the CM who assisted me assured me that it was RPC over the phone. I really, really wanted the main building so after talking to 3 more CMs (2 others assured me that SL was main building  ) I finally got everything squared away. I would have been absolutly livid, however, if I had arrived and found out that we were not staying in the main building (which I would have done if not for DIS, because I wouldn't have known any better!)

Strangely enough, my room rate didn't change. I thought "wow, they didn't have to do that, that's great!" Then I looked on Disney's website to double check the rate and found that NOW I was paying the correct price. Even when they had me in SL, I was paying for RPC!

No worries now though (I hope), thanks to everyone on this thread!

I want to see pictures of this mysterious (sp?) prince as well!

Amy, I am glad it worked out. Confusing though!!! Sorry your stay wasn't as super as it should have been due to the bees/room changes/ etc.

Where is that prince?? :confused3

I heard that after we checked out of the WD Suite, Barry Gibb (BeeGees, LOL) checked in to it!! :thumbsup2 How come I never see anybody famous when we stay at the GF??!! ;)

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :sunny:

We're at the GF right now and received some major pixie dust at checkin :wizard:

My only request on the ressie was a dormer room...we like the non-connecting rooms, so when the dormer room wasn't available I asked for any non-connecting room. Our "earning my ears" castmember disappeared for a few minutes, then returned with a dormer room :goodvibes ...with a lagoon view  ...of the MK :woohoo:

:cheer2: We could hardly sleep last night :cheer2:

Love the pixie dust :teeth:

WOW - you are lucky! :thumbsup2 We are leaving on 8/24, I am hoping to get upgraded from the SL to the RPC. This is only our 2nd time at GF, 1st at concierge! :cool1: Are the parks crowded???
