Welcome back Channing and Kelly.:goodvibes

Cool to see pictures of the new decor. I like the colors and know that if it looks good in pictures, it looks fab at WDW. The corner chair looks comfy but just as at the Polynesian, I'd rather have a table instead.

The armoire and desk were about what I would have guessed. The armoire with the refrig in the cabinet is very similar to the one in GCH. But look how much drawer space is gone.

No table, less drawer space.....it's a trend. I suspect the designer(s) don't have kids!:rotfl:

Bathrooms are the same and I would guess the closets are too??? I think that may explain why no publicity pictures have been released. It was more than a soft rehab but certainly not a full one

SLDL, I think requesting a renovated room is your best bet. I don't think any of us can do more than guess as to which buildings will be done when.

Welcome back ladies! :)
I can't wait to hear all about your stays..correct me if i am wrong, but Kelly I believe stayed in Sugar Loaf?? I am very interested in that!

Welcome back Channing and Kelly:goodvibes ~ I cannot wait to hear all about your trips and see pictures! Thanks Channing for the heads up about our chocolate plate. I will call today when I get a moment alone (ha, if I get a moment:rotfl2: ).
The renovated rooms look good, we fly into MCO at 9:55am on July 15 ,so we will hopefully be at the GF right around noon. I know Sundays are busy check in days though, so who knows what I will get! Of course, it is all good:cool1:

HEY!!! I've been out of town and am catching up!

Where are these pictures of the renovated rooms you all are takling about??? I wanna see 'em!

Please......

BCV23 - That was my thought exactly. I like the colors, but hate that we lose the table and drawer space. I had the same complaint when the Poly rehab photos came out, but I seemed to be the only one, so I was gonna keep my thoughts to myself on this one until seeing your post, lol.

I don't have any real dislikes about the new drapes/spreads/wallpaper, but preferred the old, so I guess I'll try to get in a NON-rehabbed room for our upcoming trip. *I always seem to be the opposite of everyone else!*

Add me to the list of those who LOVE the new room decor!! We arrive in 44 days and had requested Sago so I really hope those rooms are done by then!!!

Thank you everyone, for all the great information I've gotten so far!

Does anyone know how far in advance I should order the chocolate covered strawberries? We are arriving on August 17th, and I didn't know if I called now if it would be too early.

Thanks!

Michelle, thanks for the link to the pictures.:thumbsup2

OK....I like the old rooms better. I don't care for the peachy blue and green color combo at all and the new wallpaper doesn't do it for me. I find it kind of blah and then again all over the place at the same time....I was hoping for some richer tones. Oh well. I had higher hopes, lol.

Does anybody know if the new rooms still have a minibar at least??

Welcome home Channing and Kelly. Kelly, I'm so glad you got the Lodge Tower Room! WTG! Did your's have the fold out sofa?

Lives4Disney - you put it very well. I was trying to be diplomatic, as I don't dislike any one element in the room on it's own, but overall I think they could have done better. There's no "Wow!" factor.~sigh~

k&a&c'smom, I also agree with you about the Polynesian rehab. I think many people miss the table. I also loved the look of the new closet/dry bar areas at the Polynesian but missed the hanging space. There was also less space in the dresser drawers but I would guess at least double that of the new GF dresser because half of that houses the frig.

I do think it's very pretty but I'm glad most of our time is in villas these days. I can't imagine fitting a week's or more clothes for 5 people in the new dressers and the closet.

Well, it's just my opinion.....I call it like I see it, haha.

Maybe it will look more vibrant in person?? :confused3 I like color and I like some WOW, too.

Lives4Disney :)

I wonder if each bldg will have different themes like they do now? Maybe another theme will be a little more WOW?

That's what I was thinking, too. There are some themes that I just love now (Cameo, and the Alice), but then the "Floral" and the "Swan/Toad" doesn't do it for me. Maybe one of the other themes will have more color to it (specifically maybe some pinks or reds).

And I agree about the table, and lost drawer space, too! Hmm, I'm just not dazzled like I was expecting to be. I thought the overall look (although functionality is another story) of the CR and Poly rehabs were a VAST improvement over their old. GF's from my perspective - not so much.

I'm beginning to hope RPC isn't touched this year! ;)

I wonder about different themes too.

I do think WDW resort rooms usually look so much better in person than in pictures for some reason. Other than the green desk chair which looks funny to me, I personally think this decor is prettier and more restrained than the old decors.

But who knows when I'll be in a room. We have our next four DVC stays planned and for the resort portion, it doesn't look like GF is in the cards. Everyone is missing the Polynesian too much. So I'll have to live vicariously through all of you.:goodvibes

I am concerned that it may be the same decor in every building, but hopefully I'm wrong. I really don't like how they have the desk, the "dresser" and the daybed all butted up agains each other along that wall. It just appears more crowded. And I just don't like the desk idea period. If I'm at a Marriott and travelling on business, then that desk makes sense, but not at WDW?!

Also, based on those pictures, I fear the minibar might be gone forever. Because if that is a regular fridge, I don't see where in the room the minibar would be.

My judgement is still out on the wall/beadspread colors, definitely less color.

And I'd like to get a better look at the arm chair on the other side of the beds.

I guess I'll have to try the room out for myself. :)

BCV23 - I agree, and I hope the GF closets were left intact. I liked the idea of the closet/fridge area at the Poly, but it isn't very practical. And I did not like the way the colors in the room seemed to be so unrelated - everything doesn't have to "match", but it should coordinate. (I really liked the decor of the Poly suites, I wish they had used those colors in the regular rooms.) I feel the same about these new GF rooms, they don't quite come together.

I agree, though, the rooms always look better in person, so I'll cross my fingers. I was hoping they were gonna do a combination of deep rose/gold/cobalt, or something along those lines. It looks like they chose the colors from the new lobby rugs, and if they had used the richer colors for the majority and accented with the cream, I would have liked it better. But, I'm not a designer, so what do I know, lol.

Lives4Disney - LOL! You should "call 'em like you see 'em", I'm just too timid after being blasted over my views on the Poly and WL rehabs. I didn't really like the new colors of either, too much brown for me, and the fans of both those resorts are very defensive. ;)

I hope that they do have several themes, there will probably be one in the bunch that wins my approval. (as if they're just holding their breath for me to give the thumbs up, lol)

Hmm..
Also not what I was expecting. I thought maybe some richer colors or something as well.
Hopefully they will have different themes for different buildings as this one seems very blah to me. Pretty, yes, but still blah IMHO.
I guess I will see in 80 days (but whose counting?) ;)

Welcome home, Channing and Kelly!
