Congrats to all of those with trips coming up! With all of you on the ground, we should hopefully get more info. on the rehab! :thumbsup2

Channing - what about doing a water park on your move date? That way you would have somewhere nice and cool to spend the time you're homeless. Or heck, you could stay at SAB or the GF's pool until you have a room! (What about another stint at the GF pool cabana?)

I'm missing the World so much - I wish someone would take me! :rotfl:

Channing - That is great that you are going back!! We had ressies for this summer too, but just decided to go in Sept instead, we have never been there during the F&W festival or MNSSHP.

I hope you have a great time, no matter where you stay! :wizard: I would love to stay back at the BWI or YC/BC - but DH loves the monorail, or options for transportation other than the bus/walking. Maybe one day I will get my way - until then we will stay at the GF (not that I'm complaining ;) )

Have a great time!!! :hippie:

For our upcoming trip, we have a Theme Park View room booked, I requested a "renovated room". Do you all think we would have a better chance if I requested Sago? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Rebecca

Kelly, I AM GOING! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :goodvibes Lives4Disney!

Channing:

I am so happy for you. I know you really wanted to go.:cool1: :cool1:

I am using DU for our December trip and they put a note in the system for RPC Deluxe room if it becomes available, but, I am not holding my breath because if I remember right last year in Dec RPC never opened up for my stay. So I will stick with GV at the Polynesian if RPC doesn't open up.

Just like you RPC now is my favorite concierge and I only use concierge ocassionally for breakfast so paying extra for that service at another resort is not worth it to me.

Also, I was disappointed in their Nescafe "coffee" machine. I have been spoiled by the machine at AKL CL that makes real cappuccino. Anyway, I do want to stay in the Main Bldg. at the GF so I should probably just go for it. Of course, once I make up my mind it probably won't be available  and then I'll REALLY want it :rolleyes1
Here is a picture of the coffee machine in RPC. I don't know if it is new or not because I don't drink coffe.

That's the new machine! The cappuccino is wonderful and real!!

OK, now I wish I was staying in RPC just for the coffee maker! I absolutely hate about 95% of whatever it is WDW passes off as coffee! LOL

No kidding!! ick. I like a cup occaisonally w/bfast if we are in a restaurant, but that coffee is God awful. I always have to keep adding extra sugar and cream but it never gets good.

THANKS guys for all the support & kind words, lol. I am SO afraid to even tell my family & friends we are going again. I am embarrassed...... I am still tossing that GF/YC split around in my head. The thing is, I would prefer to be near Epcot/MGM for the 4th.....I have July 3rd dinner ressies at Ohana and we can watch the fireworks from the beach like last yr. MGM was empty on the 4th - I mean walk ons so it would be a GF3nt/YC5 nt split. Would it be worth it for 3 nts???

I really want RPC.....OR... How about one of those larger, hammerhead rooms in the lodge buildings???? What view and what building has these great corner 2 balcony rooms??? :confused3 :confused3

Hi all--

I have a friend who is taking her family (DH and DD) to WDW for the first time this December. They are going to stay at the Grand Floridian and I think she has booked a Lagoon View room. Are there any particular rooms or requests she should make? I know she would like to have a castle view, but I don't know how many rooms would realistically feature that. I've never stayed there myself, so I don't know which areas are best.

Personally, I would think it would be easier to stay in a room with the shortest walk to the monorail, but I am all about hitting the ground running--I imagine it's different when traveling with the small fry. :)

Thanks for any info!

There are definitely rooms that offer a great castle view, but she'd have to book that view. There are now 3 choices for booking at the GF, the garden view, lagoon view and MK view. A lagoon view is a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon, usually looking across towards the old Discovery Island and the Poly. Very pretty and these views are excellent for watching the Electric Water Parade from the balcony. If they want to be close to the pools and the main building, I'd suggest that they request Big Pine Key.

I just got moved to the GF after being booted from AKL. This is actually our first family trip to Disney World!! We are going mid July. My DH has been a few times but his last trip was about 15 years ago. I have a DD5 and DS2. They moved us from AKL Savannah view to GF garden view. Any info. or suggestions about building choices or general info. on GF would be greatly appreciated!

Tammi - we recently added a few days at the GF to the end of our vacation, and the only room category left was lagoon view. We really love the location of Conch Key, and wondered if we might get a room with a side glimpse of Wishes if we requested that building. Are the theme park view rooms a dead-on view of the MK, or any view of it - say, leaning out from your balcony and looking to the side?

If that is the case, I would probably prefer Big Pine, as I do love the view you described and that building is very convenient to both pools and the main building.

TIA! :sunny:

rb75 - What a great upgrade! I love the AKL, but if you're gonna get booted out, the GF is a great alternative. You're gonna love it!

k&a&c'smom, an MK view seems to be described as any room that has a view of the park. It can be a partial view of the Castle, or looking out towards Space Mountain. Many of us thought it would be a dead-on view, but it doesn't seem to be that way. You can certainly request Conch Key, but you'll be looking towards the monorail. You could have some fireworks views from your balcony by looking off towards the right, but I don't think you'll see the castle at all.

rb75, Sago Cay is one of my favorite buildings and a garden view here can overlook the marina or the monorail. Both might be fun views for your kids. It's also close to Gasparillas Grille for a quick counter service snack, the main building entrance and there's a little path that goes directly to the bus stop. You're about a 3 minute walk to the pools and beach. The outer buildings are nicely setup around the property and there's really not much distance between everything.

According to the their e-mail signatures, I believe it's Itinerary Planning Office and they're CM's who assist guests staying on the club levels at the resort. Sort of like lobby concierge, but the service is a bit more personalized.

OMG!!!!!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I GOT ROYAL PALM FOR MY FIRST THREE NIGHTS - and at AAA rates!!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2:
