The *New* Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Frequently Asked Questions (FEB2004) Part 2

SLDL, I am back! Sorry I did not get to write while at the GF. My daughter's computer wasn't able to log on.

I checked downstairs for the Alice dress and they have x-small sizes (No weight was on the tag). It looks to me that it will most likely fit a 2 year old. Also, while we were in EPCOT they were also in one of the London gift shops where Pooh is for photo ops.

The dresses are very comfortable and adorable. I hope I helped!

Magical

Thank you so much for checking on this!!! I am going to get one for DD. :woohoo: Glad you had a great trip!

I think my post got lost in everyone's excitement over the renovations that have begun, so I decided to try and ask again.

Ok, you wonderful ladies of the GF, tell me. We have a lagoon view room for Dec. 7 - 15th. And I originally had a MK view at CR. DH asked me to change resorts because of construction there, plus he secretly really wanted to stay at GF but was letting me have the MK view. Anyway, back to my question. What building should I request (I know it is ONLY a request) to try and get a MK view. I could not get a AAA discount for a MK view room, but I could get a discount for a lagoon view and hope to get one that looks out towards MK. I hope that made sense, I read it 3 times and to me the question is confusing. My Travel Agent has been out on Maternity Leave and comes back next week and I want to have all my requests and changes ready for her when she comes back. Oh and we are not staying at a Club Level, just a standard room.

Thank you!!!

I would suggest Conch or Sago. They both have lagoon view rooms that face the castle and parts of the MK. Now if they have turned all of those rooms to "theme park" views - which very well could be the case - then Boca Chica would be my request. Some of the lagoon view rooms in that building have a good view of MK and some even have views of the castle if you go out on the balcony and look to the left! Big Pine Key lagoon views look more at the Poynesian and wedding chapel. Good luck!

magical4us4, I'm glad your vacation was great this trip. Cool to hear reports on the rehab too. I saw benches being removed from Sago Cay on 5/18 and it is already finished! That is fast.

That is amazingly fast for complete rehabs! Gotta love Disney Magic:cool1: Our trip is now only 24 days away~I wonder if they will have another building done by then? Are they working on Conch now?

I am getting so excited for our first stay at the GF. I already have a sneaking suspicion that it will not be our last!!!

Oh ya....you're in trouble. You won't want to stay anywhere else. :goodvibes

Happy planning!!! It's coming up quick now! :cool1:

where do you find rehab info? We will be there Oct 19-27 and would like to stay on top of the locations of the current rehab. Wouln't want to be surprised with a "sorry we had to move you" when we check in.

I'm a little confused as to why you'd think they'd have to move you? Unless you have main building or Sugar Loaf concierge booked, as those are technically the only bookable buildings, everything else is assigned at check-in based on what's available. In terms of the main building, it sounds like they are doing this floor by floor and not closing it down completely. Sugar Loaf may be a different situation, but only in temporarily relocating lodge concierge to another building. I imagine all of this will be going on behind the scenes and pretty much transparent to the guest. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are booked in a lagoon view room there is no way you can get an MK view. There is a bookable category that costs a little more than a lagoon view called "MK view" or "theme park view" that guarantees an castle/space mountain view. Disney figured that there were so many people that wanted the MK view room, they might as well charge people more money to guarantee it. The "lagoon view" category specifically refers to rooms that face the lagoon, but do not have an MK view. I would call your TA and switch if you want the MK view.

Hey everyone. They appear to be working on Sago right now, but I can attest that they aren't finished. We are in Sago on the fourth floor and our room has not been rehabbed yet. I couldn't get in to RPC until after our cruise, so I may not find out info from the concierge team until then, but I will try doing some very important research for you guys. ;)

I was not at all impressed with the knowledge (or actually lack of!) from the front desk staff checking people in Wednesday night.

More later.

Marci~ Hope you are having a great time, even with the front desk staffs' lack of knowledge. I am looking forward to hearing all about your trip! Thanks for the update!

Have fun at the GF and on the cruise, Marci!:cool1:

Hi Marci...hope you are enjoying your trip!

Is Sago building 5? I was told that is was completed.....oh my, I guess no one knows what is quite going on down there.

I just got back Tuesday night and was told while I was there it was completed. I did see a fence around an opening near the front of the building where there was some kind of renovation being done, but I thought it was something minor.

Any more information would be appreciated here!:goodvibes

Magical

Marci, hope you're having fun! Now I'm wishing we were there for the kids' b'day tomorrow and to see YOU!

Marci, have a great time. :goodvibes

Ya, it sure sounds like nobody REALLY does know WHAT is going on with the GF rehab. :confused3 STRANGE......

Princessesrules4, thank you for the information. I'm glad to hear that.

Do you happen to remember if Sandy Cove had the Pirates' version of Crocs for sale in either the kids' (click here) or the adults' sizes (click here)? Or did they only sell the regular Disney Crocs (click here for kids' or click here for adults')?

My daughter needs a new pair of Crocs and if we head to the Grand Floridian this summer, I might wait until then to purchase them.

Sorry Janet2k, I didn't see your question till I just went back to look at Lynr's pictures!
Anyway, I don't remember if they have the pirate crocs or not... sorry!! we saw crocs so many places that I can't remember now! I know they had lots of colors of Mickey ones in Sandy Cove ,but the pirate ones are sure to be at the parks somewhere! Hopefully someone else who just came back can answer better ( and was more observant than me!):)

Janet -- I'm 90% sure they only had regular Disney crocs. I didn't see any Pirate Crocs at AK or MGM, but I did see some at Epcot today. I bought both boys a pair from Mouse Gears. Let me know if you need some picked up.:)

I might look at the Crocs when we get there. No one sells them around here and if I ordered them online they wont get here before we go.
