Hi CR fans. I was wondering if the Counter service is open yet or is it still grab N go? We have a grand gathering cruise and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Otherwise I will see if I can get a reservation for one of the Table services like the Wave or Chef Mickey's. thanks in advance.
As of right now it's still they still have the Tempo Grab & Go, however it was posted that they want Chef Mickey's Express to open next month on August 14. So hopefully that will happen. Besides that there is also the Sand Bar which is another counter service location that is located by the pool, however their hours are never set so they could close at anytime.

Well, we are leaving this afternoon for a weekend at Myrtle Beach, SC on the way to our vacation at the Contemporary!! I am a little nervous b/c I just did something very last minute! My in-laws felt that w/ our kids being young, etc. they wanted to pay for us to fly rather than drive. So, I have booked a flight on Spirit Airlines, which I have never used before. Now, I have to reserve a town car since I'm sure it's too late for Magical Express. And we will have to revamp our schedule a bit since I had planned to stop at the outlets, etc. while we were there.

So, we will have this extra time, will not have to worry about checking in late (now we'll be early!!) and I will not be able to bring ALL the snacks/water I have been purchasing for weeks. We will have a stop at the grocery store & the things I've purchased won't go to waste. I need to know about getting to DTD from the CR, which I'm assuming is via monorail to TTC & then bus, but seems like I read somewhere that there is only a bus to DTD during the afternoon. Can anyone confirm this?

Any other tips you have would be great. I am nervous about making this change only a few days before the trip, but I know it will make for a more relaxing time in the end. Thanks!

Have a great time and to answer your question from there is a direct bus from the Contemporary to Downtown Disney. In fact there are no buses that run between the TTC and Downtown Disney.

I just upgraded to the Atrium level for our upcoming trip (7/31 - 8/4). Please tell me I did the right thing! We originally had a garden wing deluxe room but I was able to get a AAA discount for the Atrium level and took it. I'm going to be surprising my husband. He just had a birthday last Fri, but we didn't really do anything for him. :sad1: I thought this would be a great birthday gift, what do you all think? CR Fan 4 Life, I'm counting on you for any information and encouragement!! :thumbsup2 TIA!

Hello Catiesam - My DD and I will also be on the Atrium Level July 31 - Aug. 6 - If you see some people in Texas attire, come by and say "hi!"

I'm looking very forward to the Atrium Level stay! Hope you have a great time!

We're planning a split stay between ASMo and CR in 3/09. We just called Disney to verify avaliability and CR is SOLD OUT of tower rooms 3/17-3/21. 8 months in advance?!? The CM told us that since the refurb it was one of the most popular resorts on poperty and hardest to book. I'm in shock.

Chances are they are sold out now because the Magic Kingdom View is very popular, or because of a convention. However if you keep calling CRO or looking online everyday after the 2009 rates come out, I am sure you will eventually get a room there.

Thanks! That's very helpful! I've never stayed in a Deluxe before so I can't wait for this trip!

Are you positive you're too late for ME? I would ask on the Transporation board. You might still be able to get in, even if you wouldn't be able to get tags.

Hello All My CR Addict Friends!!!

I read on another forum that the "Twinkling Round Trees" in front of the Contemporary have all been removed and replaced with regular trees. I was so sad to read that....I love to look down from our balcony and watch the little lights twinkle!!

Anybody else hear/see this and have pictures of what it looks like now????

THX!!:thumbsup2

Thanks....I went back about 10 pages but didn't see anything...I'll keep looking.....if anyone can direct me I'd appreciate it.:thumbsup2

Thanks krbq!!!
I'm heartbroken that they took those trees down....I wonder if the new trees have the twinkling lights...

We just got back last night from the CR and I don't remember the lights twinkling in the trees in front. My family did not like the new landscaping, it must be Disney going green. Just does not have the same look.:confused3

Does anyone know if there are any Microsoft office programs on the computers at CR? Word or Excel? TIA

Thanks krbq!!!

Me, too! They've been there since my first stay in the late 70's. They remind me of the popsicles my mother used to make out of Dixie cups (she was too cheap to buy the real ones!:rotfl:)

DH is really upset about it, but maybe the trees are getting too old and need to be replaced. I sure will miss them.:sad1:

from what i know about them no... however you can use something like google docs, which is similar to office, but is all web based. I don't Disney would block something like that...

We purchased a model of the CR a few years back (plus all the monorails, of course)!! I'm so thankful we at least have miniature trees that will forever remind us of what once used to be! My Hubby is upset, too!!:confused3

Perhaps they will be shaping these and adding twinkles!!! Fingers Crossed!!!;)
