We stayed in a garden view room last August. I would do that again in a heartbeat. The rooms are identical to the tower and it is very quiet, it makes you feel like you're in a totally separate resort. Ask for a first floor room so you have a patio to sit out on.

That is the "garden" view that we had.

If you feel that the extra $ per night is worth it then the Tower is great no matter the view. However there is nothing wrong by staying in the Garden Wing because the most important thing to remember is that your still staying at the Contemporary.

Thanks! I did request a first-floor room. I'd love to be in the Tower MK view, but I just don't know that I can swing it. I've always wanted to stay in CR, ever since I was little and we rode the monorail through it. :lovestruc

Maybe I'll come into the extra $800 plus to move to MK view! LOL!

No matter what have a great time staying at the Contemporary, because I am sure your going to enjoy it. :thumbsup2

Thanks for that info. I have been searching for a picture of the closet but I'm sure you guys know...so the drawers that are in the room are in the closet? I guess that is the downside to a flatscreen tv, no need for a dresser anymore!

Also, if any of you have experience in this, I'd appreciate it...we will be arriving late at the CR-probably around 10 pm or so. I am worried they would give our room away if we are not there by a certain time. I have told our TA to put that info on the reservation but still wonder if I will need to call myself & say "hey! We're still coming, don't give away our room!" on the day of our arrival.

You guys are great!!

Because of an airline delay we got to the Contemporary at 3am instead of 11pm - we still checked in fine but we had a very sleepy CM!

From Jason Garcia at The Orlando Sentinel:

Looks like there will be at least one take-out restaurant inside the Bay Lake Tower, which is the new Disney Vacation Club resort Disney is building next to its iconic Contemporary Resort.

State regulators recently awarded Disney a food-service license for the restaurant, under the working name of "Bay Lake Tower Finish Kitchen." According to the license application, the restaurant will be a non-seating, take-out only eatery, it will be 693 square feet with one restroom each for men and women, and it will have a maximum number of three staffers working per shift.

Perhaps the most tantalizing detail of all: The projected completion date is Sept. 1, 2009.

I just upgraded to the Atrium level for our upcoming trip (7/31 - 8/4). Please tell me I did the right thing! We originally had a garden wing deluxe room but I was able to get a AAA discount for the Atrium level and took it. I'm going to be surprising my husband. He just had a birthday last Fri, but we didn't really do anything for him. :sad1: I thought this would be a great birthday gift, what do you all think? CR Fan 4 Life, I'm counting on you for any information and encouragement!! :thumbsup2 TIA!

I think you made a great decision and I hope you have a great time staying up there. :thumbsup2

I would also recommend you read the 1st post of this thread which tells you everything you need to know about Club Level service at the Contemporary.

You have nothing to worry about. At ALL WDW resorts, you are not a no-show until 6:00 a.m. the following day. You truly, truly truly don't have to have even the slightest concern about the timing of your arrival.

For you, arriving that late is new and strange and full of the unknown. To the resort front desk staff, it's just another day at the office. They will not give your room away ... PROMISE!!!

I struggled with the same thing. There's no way we'd choose to spend the cost of a week in a tower room ... the mortgage and student loans and groceries come to mind.

We have always been Moderate resort folks. But for this trip, I decided to try something I've never tried before ... a split stay! We're staying 4 nights at POFQ, and then I'm totally surprising my wife and kids with the final 3 nights at Contemporary in a MK view room.

It won't be an entire week there, but it will be enough to give us a taste of it.

Think if this sort of thing sounds like your idea of a good time.

I have never heard that...Thanks!!!

Can anyone post pictures of gift baskets or desserts/cakes they have received while staying at the CR. Is their a special number I can call to order a basket or cake??

Hi CR fans. I was wondering if the Counter service is open yet or is it still grab N go? We have a grand gathering cruise and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. Otherwise I will see if I can get a reservation for one of the Table services like the Wave or Chef Mickey's. thanks in advance.
