We ordered the monorail for my step son's birthday and it was beautiful! Also delicious! It cost 40.00 through in room service and I ordered it the day we arrived and it came the next day around 11am. It also comes with different chocolate pieces and dusted cocoa in the pattern of the CR hotel underneath the monorail. Very nice. I know all will enjoy it.

I'm guessing you had to be available in the room when it was delivered?
Thanks!:goodvibes

I love this thread!!!!! I hope to be there in 1 year and 6 days and I am really excited!!!!

I wish I had an upcoming trip to CR :sad1: :sad1: Have a great trip, and enjoy this thread!

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure that they have one of those master keys, so if you order it, unless they say you have to be in the room, i wouldn't think you would have to be.

I was the one who emailed the tip to Deb. We are locals and usually end up spending a couple of hours on Saturday nights at the Outer Rim. We have made good friends of a couple of bartenders/servers there. We were told this past Saturday night they were told as of July 13th, they would be closing. The 13th could be a kind of clean up day. So, their treating the 12th as their last night. A couple of bartenders already know what location they are moving to. Others its a toss up between two locations and they don't know for sure where they may be moving. Things have been *really* slow since the Concourse Steakhouse closed. This past Saturday night was the slowest I've ever seen it.

The new bar will be extremely small. Right now the plan is only for 8 seats. Much smaller compared to Outer Rim. It will most likely be a while before it opens.

Thanks for the info. So it sounds like there will be no Outer Rim alternative when we go at the end of the month. That stinks but I'm glad to know in advance.

Okay, I just read about The Sand Bar. How is that in comparison to The Outer Rim?

We just got back from our stay last week (trying to catch up on laundry). We had an excellent stay. We were on the 11th floor MK view (highly recommend the MK view). It is so nice to get back from the parks and see the fireworks right from your room. We had two connecting rooms which was nice to have alot of space to spread out. I would have liked a little more drawer space, but I tend to bring a ton of clothes. I also had 6 cases of water sent from staples and the bell person brought it up and wouldn't even accept a tip. (We only used 4). We only had one day where mousekeeping came after 5:00pm. Didn't really bother me since everyday she arranged the kids toys into cute configurations. We went to Chef Mickey's and the California Grill - both were great. The Sandbar had burgers and salads. The only thing I would recommend is if you are going to eat outside is go to the tables that are closer to the pool. Those pesky crows tend to dive bomb right at the table. I also ended up getting the double stroller at the park. So much easier to just dump the stroller and not have to fold one up to get on the monorail. We did visit the other two hotels on the monorail for breakfasts and dinners. The GF for the 1900 Park Fair dinner the food was great. We also did the photoshoot at the GF (It was our afternoon that we actually hit the rain so our photoshoot was indoors). Typically it did rain once a day, but we were either at dinner or in our room. We also did the Lilo and Stitch breakfast where the food was excellent. If you are doing some character breakfasts this is a good one to do later in your trip. They bring the food to you which is much more relaxing then getting up for a buffet and trying to get pictures with the characters coming around. All in all I loved our stay. I loved being the first stop on the monorail when leaving the park. After visiting the other hotels we felt the CR was more our style.

Thank you for posting your review and it's that you and your family enjoyed staying there. :thumbsup2

No. We were not in the room but knew it was coming sometime when we were going to be in the parks in the AM. They asked when we wanted it delivered. I left a tip in the wooden tray that is in the room on the rolling table and when we got back that was there as well as a card from the fab five and balloons. Very impressed!!

I know this information may already be available in this thread, so sorry for the post, but I was wondering if there is still or will be soon an arcade at the CR:confused3 :confused3 Also, is there still a food court that is open 24hrs:confused3

Thanks so much for your input and patience with my questions:banana:

The arcade is now located on the 4th floor where the old Fantasia store use to be.

As for their food court last September the Food & Fun Center closed and as of right now they have the Tempo Grab & Go which is located on the 4th floor and they close at 11:00 PM. Also construction on the replacement for the Food & Fun Center which is to be called Chef Mickey's Express is happening right now and it's to be located where the Concourse Steakhouse use to be. It's also not know yet if they will stay open 24 hours. Finally it was posted that WDW wants to open next month on the 14th, so hopefully that will happen.

Just got back from a very relaxing stint at the CR. My wife and I decide to spend our July 4th watching the fire works from our MK view room, it was great. I added some progression shots of the new Kingdom Tower and some of the construction going on in the old Concourse Steak house.

I did however find out that this Saturday may be the last night for the Outer Rim. I rally hate to see this place go to the way side.

Things I like about the Outer Rim: (by the way, the comments below are at different occurrences, not all the same time, in case some of you think I need help)

1. Enjoying a cold beer while watching the monorail roar in.
2. Enjoying a cold beer while watching others enjoying Bay lake and pool area.
3. Enjoying a cold beer while watching the electric light parade.
4. Enjoying a cold beer while looking at the awesome mosaic.
5. Enjoying a cold beer just before calling it a day after Park Hopping!

Sad news about the Outer Rim, which has been a fixture for ever (love the hidden nooks in the northern end). What's the bartender's name? He's also a fixture.

It's sad to think that, beside the California Grill's lounge, the Wave will be the only place in the resort to get a drink.

:thumbsup2 Wes and Bob are the bartenders. And yes, you are correct, the California Grill and the Wave will be left. I did however partake a couple beers in the Wave bar area, and it was nice. No matter how much I really don’t care to see some of the MAJOR changes at the Contemporary Resort, I know one thing will always be a constant “ Everything changes, nothing stays the same”.

No matter what (for all you on the fence resort deciders) the Contemporary resort is the best resort of them all!

I thought I remembered reading somewhere on this thread, that they were going to move the Outer Rim, to another part of the floor?

Are resort guests able to get drinks from the 2 places you mentioned (Wave & CG) & take them back to their rooms or would you have to have it there?

I read that it would be moved to where they have the Tempo Grab & Go, so it would not be moving very far and should start once they close for Chef Mickey's Express.
