I just read this from allears...I don't know if this is new info or if I've just missed it...
"We just found out tonight that the Outer Rim Lounge at the Contemporary will be closing on July 13. The area will be used for storage. A much smaller bar will reopen at a later date."

Anyone know anything about this? I hope it is incorrect!

Well it has been posted here that, the lounge will be moving to a new location, so the current location will close and open in the new, not to far away as I understand it

We just got back late last night from our Disney stay. We ended up staying the first two nights at the CR. We paid for a BV room in the Tower but got a surprise upgrade to club level with a view of Bay lake! We really enjoyed the hotel and the room was VERY nice! We used the Atrium Club which had great food and very roomy compared to other club rooms. The view of the castle was great from there! Our family would love to come here again! We also stayed two nights at the Yacht club (club level), 2 nights at the AKL club level, and the final night was at the BWI in a garden suite. CR was definately one of our favorites!!!

I read on here that someone said it would be moving to where the Tempo Grab & Go is, so I guess that's what they mean by not to far away.

Thanks for your review and congragulations on the upgrade. It sounded like you enjoyed it a lot. Also do you remember any of the hot foods they had out at 5:00 PM, because I don't know if they have changed them since the closing of the Concourse Steakhouse and opening of The Wave.

wow..you moved around more than we will be for our Dec trip... a couple questions: how did your moves from resort to resort go? did you have the resorts transfer your luggage for you? if so, how did that work out? and when you were upgraded, did you ask for an upgrade or did they just hive it to you?

We had Disney move our luggage for us. The only time it was a problem was when we moved to the Yacht club, the luggage went to the Beach Club instead. But they fixed that problem within 15 minutes. We dropped off the luggage at the bellhop desk each morning that we were switching hotels before we left for the park of the day, and by 3:00 it would be at the next hotel. It really wasn't a hassle for us~ we just kept most of our stuff in our luggage.
As far as the upgrade, I asked if I could pay to upgrade to a club level room (I had tried to book one prior to arriving but none were available) and the CM said that I had already been upgraded to the club level. YEAH!

We made 4 moves on our trip in May. All we did was call down to bell services when we were all packed. They came to our room w/i 10 minutes, tagged and took our luggage. When we got to the next resort we called down to bell services and they brought our luggage to us w/o 10 minutes. We were very lucky and all of our rooms were ready before 11 am so there was never any homelessness. We mentioned this at each hotel and were told that they were working on making it easy for their guests that transfer from hotel to hotel. We had a great time and it was NO hassle at all. The only thing was we spent a LOT on gratuities!!!

That must have been a shock since you were willing to pay for it and the fact you were told the day before it was sold out.

Actually, I called the morning we were leaving and was still told there was not a club level room available. Yes, our family was very excited! Great way to start our trip!

It's very possible you were upgraded before you got there and so there were no rooms available! We were upgraded from a regular CL room to the Honeymoon suite since it was our 25th ann. and it was done before we got there. I only knew because I asked for an updated copy of our reservations and it was on there!

That could be true if the room assignment was done a few days before and they decided to upgrade them at that time.

Believe it or not we were upgraded a whole month before!
Actually I can because last December when my family and I stayed at the Polynesian, we got upgraded from a Garden View Club Level room to a Lagoon View Club Level room a few days before we were to arrive. The way we found out is WDW sent us a new e-mail confirmation and it said on the new room view their website when I typed in our reservation number. So it may have not been a whole month like you, however it was still before we arrived that we found out.

I was the one who emailed the tip to Deb. We are locals and usually end up spending a couple of hours on Saturday nights at the Outer Rim. We have made good friends of a couple of bartenders/servers there. We were told this past Saturday night they were told as of July 13th, they would be closing. The 13th could be a kind of clean up day. So, their treating the 12th as their last night. A couple of bartenders already know what location they are moving to. Others its a toss up between two locations and they don't know for sure where they may be moving. Things have been *really* slow since the Concourse Steakhouse closed. This past Saturday night was the slowest I've ever seen it.

The new bar will be extremely small. Right now the plan is only for 8 seats. Much smaller compared to Outer Rim. It will most likely be a while before it opens.

Do you happen to know if they are going to be renovating that area where the Outer Rim is after it closes, or would that be happening later on?
