The NEW Disney's Contemporary Resort FAQ with PICTURES! (Feb 2008)

Welcome back and glad it was so amazing! What floor did you get? How was Mousekeeping? What drinks besides soda did they have for the mugs?

We were on the 11th floor!!!
Mousekeeping was good not great. We needed TP and washcloths. The room was very clean however.

The drinks were pop (I'm from Illinois) lemondade, power ade, coffee and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was by mix only, although my kids loved it. The pizza is yummy and can easily feed more than one or even more than two if they are kids. I can't wait for the new and improved food court to open. A CM said it will be like Poly with touch screen ordering. Also he said the menu will include fries and soft serve ice cream. I hope not together!

By the way, we were able to get free refills at the "Sand Bar" by the pool. The CM said that they couldn't use our cups for the refills, they had to use their paper cups. We had our cups and just poured the drinks in our cups. However, we only got the refills for the number of cups present (my daughter didn't bring hers to the pool).

Thanks for that great review and it's funny because mentioned earlier in another post that I had a feeling there would be touch screen ordering like at the Polynesian. So it will be interesting to see when Chef Mickey's Express opens.

It's been posted that they want it to open on August 14, 2008. However who knows if that will be the actual opening date so we just go to wait and see, since no other opening dates have been mentioned. Plus the Concourse Steakhouse needs to close on June 1st so they can start the renovations over there for Chef Mickey's Express.

You're welcome and yes it would open 4 days before my family and I are to arrive in August, if the date I posted was correct. However I will say again incase it's not going to be open by then we will be prepared to purchase anything we would like from the Tempo Grab & Go. The best example I can give of something we thought was not going to be there based on a schedule was the closing of the Food & Fun Center. We all thought it was to close on July 30, 2007 since that is what was said, however that never happened. When we checked-in I asked and was told the food area was still open, so it was a surprise because I expected it to be closed. Instead it closed sometime during the 1st week of September 2007. Finally since we know that we are staying at the Contemporary again in December it should be open by then, so at least it's something we can look forward to.

I am so glad you are enjoying the pics. There are some more on my daughter's camera. I will attempt to get those on.

I know the feeling. However maybe you can start planning another trip to WDW really soon if it's possible, so you can look forward to going back.

Those are great photos!!

We are planning a trip for the last week of July...so, from what I can understand the following places will be open for dining: Chef Mickey's, Tempo Grab & Go...and Concourse Steakhouse will be closed by then. Did I miss anything? I wanted to eat somewhere at the Contemporary since we are staying there but we have done Chef Mickey's alot & wanted to try something new.

I know this does not really belong here, but I have a question about this photo we took this past Monday.

I have not been reading about the new DVC construction. DH and I were wondering what the big concrete posts in front are. They are just like the monorail ones. Is the monorail going to branch off here? I am sure I could read and find out all about it over on the DVC board, but thought someone could quickly fill me in. Thanks!

It was kind of sad to see all this since we stayed several times in the north garden wing.

I doubt the Monorail would branch off to the new DVC building just because of how the tracks is set up and etc. Maybe the posts are to help the Tower connect with the DVC building, because there has been talk of making a walkway between both buildings.

Thanks. I'll tell DH. He was most fascinated with it all and took many pictures. They were just identical to the monorail ones in size and height and even placement seemed accurate. A walkway would work though! We have been watching the progress each trip, but won't get back until Nov. probably, unless we sneak in a Sept trip. I guess I should read up on it!

You're welcome and chances are anything you read about the building will most likley be various rumours, because it has not been officially announced yet by Disney Vacation Club. For example the walkway I mentioned before is also a rumour, however that one I actually see happening. The only mention of the DVC building which is to be called the Kingdon Towers was from an atricle on the Orlando Sentinal website, which you can read by clicking on the link in the very 1st post by Denise.
