Yes they were. My husband takes our daughter and I take our son. They're a blast. I'd definitely recommend renting them. Also, if heights don't bother you the parasailing is also wonderful.

How old are your children? We'll be down there next week and want to take the kids (DD6 DS1 1/2) on the sea raycers but I don't know if theres an age limit.

Does anyone know if there is a age limit.

I believe anyone under twelve must ride with an adult. Our DS is twelve and a half and our DD is ten. We've always split the kids, one with each of us. We have "races" and it's really a fun time.

SoScary "09, I honestly don't remember what the rate was last year. I do know that they've always seemed very reasonable for the time and experience.

Really? My mistake then. That's what a Cafe CM told us in December.
Well from what I saw the construction was happening in area where they had the old Outer Rim Lounge, so it made sense that it was not to expand Chef Mickey's. Also each of the Cast Members I spoke with and friends of mine who know Cast Members say it's not for Chef Mickey's.

Actually, Chef Mickey's is being expanded. The area behind and to the left of the check-in desk is the expansion area. The area accross from Contempo Cafe is the new lounge. Click on this link at mousesteps: http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php...sk=view&id=250&Itemid=65&limit=1&limitstart=2

The 6th picture from the top shows the expanded area. The boxed, enclosed area is the new bathroom for Chef Mickey's. Once this area is complete, there will be other areas in the restaurant sectioned off for the rehab (new carpet, etc.)

The 7th pic shows the small area under construction (accross from Contempo) which will become the new Outer Rim Lounge.

About Rooms 5109, 5209, and 5309...do those usually book up fast?

We have a room with a King bed w/Garden View...I requested a view of the pool. I think I'd like to have one of the above rooms. Are they different? More expensive? Should I call our Travel Agent about these rooms? Would we have to "upgrade" to have one of those rooms?

I read on the Contemporary Resort site about a room with a King bed, view of pool, "upgraded furnishings" and an "over sized bathroom"...I want a room like that. Is that 5109, 5209 and 5309?

how do you secure having a king bed vs. having 2 queens? i've already reserved a standard room in the garden but it doesn't say anything about what kind of beds I'll have.

Actually the new counter service location on the 4th floor has opened a few months ago and it's name turned out to be the Contempo Cafe. Anyway last month I got to try it and it was a great location with a lot of items to choose from. My personal favorite is the Chicken Caesar Salad, which had to be the best one I ever had.

thanks for that, havent been on this thread for a while  as been too busy over christmas and mainly sticking to the uk section.
caught up now though :cool1:

Well...this is according to the DH per the convo he had w/our travel agent. He requested King bed and view of pool....because I nagged and nagged and nagged some more that he mention this to her or else I'd castrate him. Therefore, he could be fibbing to me about it. But he "says" it's a done deal.

I'm looking at the Itinerary Details right now and it only says:
Room Type: garden Wing-Garden View
...nothing about a King bed. So really, it's not "secured".

I just questioned the DH and he said our agent sent over a "request" for a King Bed. (I think he's full of poo)

Is there a picture of the rooms I've mentioned and/or a picture of a room with a King bed in this thread?

Can someone direct me to a picture?

I'm not sure what the success rates of 'requests' are. We'll be doing the same thing, requesting a King bed. Good luck!

We stayed at the CR in December and loved the lighted mirrors in the bathroom. We are building a house and would love to have some like this. We ended up finding the name of the company that makes them on the lower left hand side of them. It was on the front side. If anyone is there now and can help me, I would really appreciate it.

OK gang thanks to the military discount. We now have 2 Bay Lake View tower rooms. Are the pools on the Bay Lake side of the theme park side? It is weird to me that I can't remember. Also, all tower rooms have balcony's rightt?

Bricket: Yes, those rooms are different -- much more spacious than standard rooms -- and $25 more per night in value season for 2009. There are only 3 of them. We stayed in the ground floor room in 2003 (before the rehab) and loved it. It was great having the 2 patios and all the extra interior space. The bathroom was huge.

They used to be called junior suites and are now called Garden Wing-Deluxe Rooms (according to the official Disney website). The rate given on the Disney website came up as $355 in value season. They are a separate category so if you really want one be sure your travel agent specifically reserves it for you. It has a king bed and a sleeper sofa (sleeps 4). The other king rooms only sleep 3.

Yes, pools are on Bay Lake side of the Tower, and all Tower rooms have balconies. Enjoy! :)
