We are going to be staying at the Contemporary from Jan 23 - Feb 1 and staying there has always been a dream of mine so I have a few Question for you guys, we have a tower park view room booked and I was wondering are there any bad views? Are the lower floor rooms still considered park view? Should I make any kind of special requests besides highest floor possibe.

You Contemporary Vets have any pointers for me?

Thanks in advance.

Hey! Very cool! We're checking in and back out the same dates as you! We're also staying in a MK view tower room. We'll be arriving around 11 a.m. (plane arrives at 9:40). We stayed on the 6th floor w/MK view in Dec. 07 which is the lowest floor for the guest rooms. We were the 1st room to the left of the walkway from the elevators so it's safe to say we were about dead center of the tower building. Our view of the fireworks, water pageant, etc. from the balcony was fantastic. We loved it so much!

Hope to see ya there! I can't wait! :yay:

CR Resort Fan, do you know where the stairs are in the Tower at CR?? We couldn't find them and wanted to use them a few times. We were on the 6th floor.

We used the stairs when we stayed on the 6th floor. Aren't the elevators insane in the mornings?? Anywhoo, if you're on the MK side of the tower walk down the corridor towards the corner of the building that is actually closest to the MK (opposite the end of the building where Chef Mickey's is). You go out a door and the stairs are just outside. ((I suspect there are stairs at all 4 corners of the building for safety reasons but I don't know this for sure.)) The problem is not all the doors coming back into the building on each floor are unlocked. We found that odd. We did make our way down the stairs when we were running late for our professional portrait sitting in the MK the day of parade taping in Dec. 2007. Talk about insanity!!! LOL!

I'm so excited! We just booked a lake-view tower room for spring break - April 4-11. I was wondering if anyone had any information about the pool rehab. Does anyone know what the theme will be or what it will look like? Will it be zero entry? I really hope it will be because I have a 3 year old and and 18month old and zero entry would be so much easier with them!

Thanks!!

I believe the pool rehab is very basic resurfacing of the current pool deck and some minor crack repair, that sort of thing. I have heard they are also adding a water play area for kids, like a water spray maze of some sort. They will also supposedly be adding rental cabanas, similar to what they have at the Grand Floridian. They will not be doing any major work on the pool...sorry. They are not putting in a new pool, so the pool will still not be a zero entry. However, there is a kiddie pool, I believe, which will be good for your children. The pool is not themed at all, to be honest. It is very basic, just a pool and water slide with some squirting fountains.

If a themed pool is very important to you, as well as zero entry, you may want to consider switching over to the Polynesian, where you can stay in a Garden View room for the same price as the tower Bay Lake view room at the Contemporary. The Poly pool has an excellent volcano/Hawaiian theme as well as zero entry, and there is also a nice beach next to the pool where your kids can play in the sand.

Congragulations on getting the Bay Lake View. I have no idea if the pool will be zero entry, however one Cast Member told me once the renovation is finished it will look better then the Polynesian volcano pool.

Whoo hoo! Hey CR Fan, any idea when it will be complete? I cancelled our June bounceback at 30% and the same day received the 40% off code and have not rebooked anything yet.

I am not trying to question what the CM told you, but I have to wonder what this CM meant by this. :confused3 In what way will it "look better"? I just wonder...it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges. You can't really compare a Hawaiian themed Volcano pool to the pool currently at the Contemporary. I mean, it's just two totally different things. Are they going to plant a bunch of tropical foliage? Add waterfalls? Enclose the waterslide inside a rock? You get what I'm saying?

Plus, a MAJOR redo of a pool takes a LOT longer than a couple months. It's already mid January. Have they even started work yet?

The Poly Volcano Pool rehab took close to a year to complete, as did the CBR pool overhaul. You can't gut and replace a pool complex in three months. It can't be done, even by Disney.

According the schedule it says the pool renovation is to be finished by March 15th.

Well I guess he has seen pictures of what the pool is going to look like once the renovation done because he said they plan to make a lot more trees around there and etc to make it look more tropical, so he thinks it will look better then the volcano pool.

Well, I hope they do add more trees. That is something that is sorely lacking from the pool area. It's like a concrete wasteland out there. I hope they add enough trees so that one can find a shady area to lounge in. Not everyone wants to sit out in the sun and bake on vacation. I get enough sun down here in So. Cal. I like to sit in a lounge chair in the shade with a book by the pool, so I hope to be able to do that!

I can't speak from personal experience, but on ou:cheer2: r last trip (12/08) we were talking with someone who was raving about the massage he got at the CR. Don't quote me but I believe he said it was $60 or $65 and worth every penney. We had been talking about how our legs and backs felt after 2 days at the parks and he said he was having some back pain and after the massage, he really did feel rejuvenated and the pain was gone. He said the girl really knew what she was doing.:cheer2:

Sorry about the last post, it's been a while. I was able to score a small outer rim sign before it hit the trash can during my last visit. However, i have no clue where it may have been located when the old outer rim was open. CR fan do you know where it was located at, any photo's?

the sign is about 24" wide x 16" tall

thanks,

MJ

Understood.

this is an old sign, i think it may have been located behind the outer rim (on the chef mickey side).
