Could it be possible that Katherine is there instead of Maria, not so much because of sympathy votes for Katherine but not voting for Maria because of Derek?

I think Derek is a great dancer and choreographer but I would really like to see him more challenged with a less than talented person. And I agree with a PP poster, while Maria did a great job, he did dance around her alot and make her look good. Their Tango was fantastic but when broken down, who really did the dancing? And their jive, while the judges all gave them 10's, there wasn't much jive in it. I figured that Len, the stickler he is, would have deducted some points on it. He even called Derek out on it but still gave a 10.

I think that while some may think that Katherine messed up and faked an injury, I also think that ABC was doing their best to keep Maria on the show.

Kirby, could not agree with you more!!! That's my opinion too. I do like Derek, but he always seems to get the "dancing potential" (for lack of better wording) partner and never gets one who just can't dance like other dance pros get. It is a lot of "smoke and mirrors" with Derek, because he is so good people tend to focus of him as he dances around his partners. I am happy that Catherine is still there, I like her. It will be interesting to see who wins. Also I think it will be very interesting to see what celeb Derek gets next time for the all-star show.

It is a lot of "smoke and mirrors" with Derek, because he is so good people tend to focus of him as he dances around his partners. I am happy that Catherine is still there, I like her. It will be interesting to see who wins. Also I think it will be very interesting to see what celeb Derek gets next time for the all-star show.

Look at this year, you have 2 multi year pros in the final. Then you have Peta, who is only in her 2nd year as a pro and honestly, with being voted off the first last season, that 1st year wasn't much of a season. Going up against Cheryl and Mark, Peta is the pro underdog.

Let me be clear, I think Katherine would have probably made it into the finals anyway. She has the most dance training and has done really well all season. I would have liked to see her make it in purely on her merits and not because she pulled some sympathy votes for a fake injury.

When people get an injury, instinctively their hands go to the injury, NOT to cover up their face. She was in pain all right, after their dance, but the pain was embarrassment/humiliation, NOT a back spasm.

That being said, I think that Mark will come up with an interesting Free Style for Katherine .

This is the only snippit that I can find in reference to dance training. It's from her Wikipedia page.

With Darcey Bussell she has appeared in a stage song-and-dance production, entitled Viva la Diva, paying tribute to stars[33] including Madonna and Judy Garland.[16] The show opened in Manchester in November 2007.[33][34] Jenkins learned to tap dance, spending eight hours a week learning the choreography and running three miles a day to get fit.

I don't know if she had classes or not, but I will say that there are people who are just naturally gifted. DD14 has been dancing since she was 3. She's got a friend, who if you looked at her and watched how she carries herself, you would think she has had years of dance - ballet - training. She's never had a single dance class. When she has stayed over, the two of them will goof around dancing and DD has shown her a lot of dance stuff and the kid can just pull it off. She's just got that god given ability. For all we know, Katherine could be one of those lucky ones.
