Yes you can bring your own air matress if you wish, and you can always request Magnolia Bend. However their preference is certainly to place parties of five in the Alligator Bayou section.

Ask nicely at front desk and see what they can do, as the room sizes are identical in terms of using your own air matress.

I am so excited! In just 78 days, I'll be back in Walt Disney World! My sister is graduating from high school, and we planned a 10 day trip that starts at POFQ and ends at POR. My whole family is coming (including grandparents and aunts and uncles), but my sister and I decided to sneak down a few days early so that we can stay a few nights at POFQ in our attempt to stay at all of the Disney resorts.

I have requested Magnolia Bend for the POR part of our trip, but I only remember ever staying at Magnolia Terrace. Does anyone have an opinion on which mansion is the best?

I have stayed in all four.

Oak Manor is my favorite; I always pay for waterview and ask to be by the quiet pool.

Magnolia Terrace and Oak Manor also have very nice woods view.

Acadian House is nice because it is more remote and has some lovely walkways. It is also near the quiet pool. But it can be a long walk to the main building.

Same for Parterre Place; it has lovely riverview rooms (I was in one last year), but it can also be quite a jaunt to the main building as well.

That should give you some insight into each.

When you say a long walk? How far of a walk do you mean?

Can someone tell me the wattage of the hairdryer? When we were at Poly last, we had a hairdryer much like my own at home and I wish I had not brought mine. Are the POR dryers the wall-mounted kind that are really more like a good breeze? Just curious!

They are the wall mount kind. The deluxe have the full size dryers.

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace our first visit, and it was a great location, near the quiet pool, and steps away from the path to main pool.

Last time we were in Parterre Place which wasn't as convenient but it wasn't that bad a walk! I don't think any building is more then a 10 or tops 15 min walk.

There certainly is, but it's not a secret though. You just pay Disney an extra $25 per night for the new 'preferred room' category, and you will definitely get a room in 14, 15, 18 or 27.

As this is now considered an official upgrade category, you're much less likely to get rooms in those buildings if you just ask for them.

Yay, we booked for the summer!!! Going with the QSDP which is a first for us & should be more than enough food in the summer heat. We will bring a air mattress for one of the kids however I think DH will end up on it. Double beds are a bit tight for us so me with one of the kids would work better. I requested close to main building (since we will have mugs it would be nice), Debating on whether or not to pay for an prefered room. The "next closest" would be fine for us though...I just don't want to be all the way in the back of the resort.

You will be very pleased with the selection of the Counter Service at POR; it is probably one of the best.

That's great to hear...the make your own pasta sounds delicious. We never really went to the foodcourt when we stayed there a few years ago. We were not on the DDP then & just ate at the parks.

Ironically, they changed over about two years ago; so you probably caught it just before it changed.

The make-your-own pasta is very, very good. As is the make-your-own omelet station in the morning and the tossed salad for lunch.

Also, remember DTD, WPE and EOS are also considered counter service and only a boat ride away!

For those of you who have stayed at POR multiple times.....how are the CMs at meeting room requests? I have paid for the river view category and was hoping for top floor in Magnolia Bend (bldg 85 or 90). FYI I did make these requests at the time of initial booking. We are a family of four so hopefully we won't be in AB.

Also, with the new room categories, does anyone know exactly which rooms in Magnolia Bend are river view? Is is just the ones immediately on the river (next to the walking path) or does it include all rooms on the river side of the buildings?......some of which I, personally, would consider courtyard view.

Anyone?

Just stayed at PO-Riverside, arrived Feb 15 thru Feb 21st. We are a family of 5 (boys ages 14-10-8). We ended up with Alligator Bayou building #39. Room 3962. The quiet pool and laundry was right around the corner and we were a brisk 10 minute walk from the big pool, lobby, etc.

Rooms were very clean. No towel animals. The first 3 days we never saw anyone else on our side of the building. Our room was on the second floor and overlooked a little pond, very very quiet. The beds were small...full size beds. DH is a large man so he got a bed to himself. My oldest insisted on a sleeping bag on the floor...and the two younger traded off on the trundle and sleeping with me. It was fine for our purposes but probably couldn't stay there in one room anymore beyond this point.

The first day we arrived the pools were so warm. The rest of the time they must have had the heaters turned down because they were too cold for DH and I...didn't bother the kids. There were several nights we were the only ones at the quiet pool.

Bus Service. We caught buses at the West Depot and never had a long wait or had to stand. For our morning breakfast at Ohanas we took a bus to Epcot then monorailed to the Poly. Going was not busy. Leaving the Poly after breakfast going to MK was a mad house. We did use the water taxi once to go to DTD...it was a nice change, a little chilly that evening.

Restaurants:

We ate one evening at Boatwrights dining hall. Our server was excellent, friendly and eager to help us pick the best meals. The food was really good...we had steak. Dessert was tasty.

Food court in the mornings was very busy...not uncommon. We used the make your own pasta several times. I wasn't crazy about the marinara but I am a little picky. Cheesecake was so yummy...and the ice cream, milkshakes, etc were dessert credits LOVED THEM.

We liked POR and I would stay there again with no hesitation.

I'd be interested in this as well. We really like being close to the main bldg. but we want to be in the Mansions, and I do not know if there is a Preferred Booking for those bldgs., does anyone know? If so, I may upgrade to Preferred Status if I need to, so I can get one of those rooms in the Mansions.
