I love AB speacily the ones closest to the main building, so much that I just can not take the risk of not getting 14 or 18 # buildings:scared1:. We love utelizeing the main building and would just find the other buildings just to far away to take a advantage of it. If I could have the Mouse gurantee me any of those buildings I would switch. Our frist and only stay was at 14, very much got spoiled:scared1:

Luckily, those buildings are two of the preferred buildings, so since you pay for it, you are guaranteed it - unless they are busy and overbooked.

This is how I feel about it. Last trip we were stuck on the backside of AB and, while we still enjoyed our trip, it did put a damper on it to be so far away. On other trips we were very close. So, while I don't enjoy paying more money, I am glad that we can now be guaranteed a close building!

It's really all about preferences...We were on the backside (building 35) and we loved it. We were there in October, so it was a slightly slower season and we saw almost no one in the backside area all week. Another family moved in two doors down in our building about halfway through our trip...other than that, I never saw anyone come and go in our whole building all week. It was so quiet and we felt like we had the whole area to ourselves.

And we were close to the West bus depot and we left early for the parks, so when we got on the bus, it was almost always empty. For those who don't know, the early morning busses heading for the parks usually have dedicated busses for the "main" South Depot and then a new set of busses are dispatched for the other 3 depots...since the West Depot is the first stop on that route, it is usually empty when it gets there. Again, they don't always do this, but we got empty early morning busses everyday except one.

We were pretty far from the main building (maybe 10 minutes), but it's a gorgeous walk...just one that you may not want to make after walking around the parks all day. ;) But we didn't have much interest in going there most days, so it wasn't a big deal to us.

So if you are mainly looking for peace and quiet at your resort...Building 35 is not real popular, so you will definitely have peace and quiet. :thumbsup2

I didn't know that one, Thank you :thumbsup2

Just found that out yesterday. Finally rebooked my stay for late October. I asked about the preferred rooms and was told the 4 closest AB buildings were preferred. So, I didn't waste my money and put in a request for my favorite Mansion.

Any word about Possible Haunted Mansion rooms. Has this rumor been supported or squashed yet?

I was over the moon when I booked my trip last year, the minute I got home and they said Oak Manor (my fav mansion) was NOT a preferred location! So I get to keep my waterview (pool).

Thought about Waterview but I'm really not too picky. If I'm in the Mansion that I like, it doesn't matter to me What view that I have. If I'm Parking Lot side then it'll be a quicker walk to the bus stop. I do like the idea of Riverview but in the Mansions that could mean Partierre Place which I am not fond of.

Neither one. You will just have to wait and see.

My son caught wind of those rooms and would LOVE to stay in one. I figure that I wouldn't mind paying the extra for a short stay. But I haven't heard anything anywhere since the rumors last year.

Right now I am in the process of trying to switch my resort reservation from POFQ to POR....just waiting to hear back from my travel agent. I was hoping that you could make me feel slightly less conflicted about my decision. We stayed at POFQ last year and loved it but it seemed as if any time we wanted to actually do something we had to go to POR....hence the switch.

:woohoo:Success!!! I just switched my current reservation at POFQ to POR and kept my free dining intact with the switch!!! I am looking forward to staying at POR with my river view room hopefully in the Mansions area (which I have requested).

How are the CMs at POR at meeting requests? I have paid for a river view category room and have requested the Mansions (either Magnolia Place or Oak Manor), top floor, outside corner if available. Hopefully I will get most, if not all, of my requests met. Come on August!!!!:woohoo:

I would say that you have a very good chance to be in the mansions if you paid for a riverview room. There are only 4 AB buildings that are on the river (unless you count the small lakes as riverview) and two of those are preferred buildings so percentage-wise, the vast majority of riverview rooms are in the Mansions. Now if Lakeside buildings are being called riverview then it evens up the numbers a lot. But you have also requested Mansions and having paid more than those of us who buy standard rooms you should have a bit more weight.

When I made my reservation, I only made 2 requests....
1st and foremost we need an accessible room...
2ndly I want in AB!
I know accessible rooms are a priority, so no doubt we will get that unless they overbooked or the refurb interferes... but are my chances still good at getting into AB? I just love the rustic look of it over the mansion side.

Ok, so my question is if they start the refurb in May, how likely will they done with Oak Manor by August? We'd really love to be in that bldg. and we are booked for standard, don't care what my view is, as long as we can be in a Mansion, preferring Oak Manor. But will take Magnolia as a 2nd choice. But we are really aiming for a refurbed room and we only have 4 so AB not necessary for us.

It's really all guesswork at the moment, unless anyone happens to know the project manager.

I would think it will take around 5-6 weeks per mansion building, and so IF they start work on Parterre in May, and IF Oak is the second building they work on, then Oak should be nearing completion around the end of July and they should be moving on to Magnolia sometime early in August.

But there are an awful lot of ifs in there!

We are staying here for the first time. It will be me and 4 kids:scared1: I would love to request a room close to the main building. Currently I just have a standard room reserved but I can/will upgrade it if I need to in order to get close to the main building. Can anyone advise me as to which building/s I should request that have rooms for 5 people that are close to the main building? I will have a car so bus transportation won't be an issue
Also, any other advice, hints, etc. will be helpful

I would request 14. Really close to the main building, and if you choose to use the Bus, really close to that as well.

Thank you Andre! Always the best source of POR information!!

Remember that building 14 is now a preferred location, so you can pay specifically for it (you will be guaranteed somewhere in 14, 15, 18 or 27). You are much less likely to get building 14 simply by requesting it now, as that would technically be considered a free upgrade.

Andre.

Does anyone know if you can request a mansion building if you have 5 guests? I read that they sometime can bring in a rollaway when AB is full however I'd like to request it & bring our own air mattress. We've been to POR AB twice before & would like to try the mansions but not sure if this request would be granted. Thank you.

Also is it ok to bring an air mattress instead of using the trundle bed in POR AB?
