Any idea what buildings are in the perferred room category at POR?

Also, does anyone know if Disney will place you in a closer room (to main building, pool, transportation) if you have difficulty walking long distances? or would you have to pay for a perferred room?

Starting next year, that is considered the preferred category. Per their descriptions online, it would appear to be 14, 15, and 18, possibly 27 in AB. In Mansions side, it would appear to be Oak Manor, and part of Parterre Place and Magnolia Terrace. These are all conjecture on my part.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we just got back from our stay at Riverside from September 23rd through October 4th. We were in the Magnolia Terrace building and there was no refurbs going on while we were there. I know in the other website Andre visits, there was mention of the Magnolia Terrace being unavailable, but it was available while we were there. Oh and by the way.....WE LOVED THIS RESORT!!! Going back next year!!!! :cool1:

8 more sleeps................

We are 299 more days until we return "home!" Enjoy all of that last minute planning and prep!! If you can, please ask about possible rehabs at the front desk.

Have fun getting ready for your trip!! :goodvibes

Thank you so much to everyone for all of the great information in this thread, Im staying at POR for my wedding and am soooo excited! :goodvibes

At POR can we have 2 adults, 3 kids, and an infant?

Yes, but ideally only in the Alligator Bayou section.

Some mass-market travel agents may not be able/willing to book that combination (e.g. Disney UK) but you'll definitely be fine booking with WDW direct, or a specialist agent such as the folks who own this site. (Other fine specialist travel agents are available of course, but I expect I'm not allowed to mention them ;) )

 Yes, even with a medical issue a guest pays for the room category wanted, then can ask for the closest room possible (in that category) due to medical need.

If you look at it from the Disney point of view - a lot of walking is required to visit WDW so walking should be expected by the guest. There are wheelchairs available at most resorts, if needed, and can be rented in each park.:thumbsup2

Good luck and have a great trip! :goodvibes

This is the 1st trip I have not asked for a specific location. I am assuming since we are 5 we will be in the AB section. I have to print out the map of the resort

thanks for the map. My youngest is 5. We have never stayed in AB before. Trying to figure out which bldg I can ask for at check in. I would like to be close to the main bldg so my older kids and walk back and forth.

They are free...however they don't have a freezer.

That's fine, don't need the freezer really. I thought they were free but when I went to check in they had it on as a special request stating fee would be added to the room so I wasn't sure.
