Yes, 14, 15, and 18 are very close, with 27 also being close as well.

However, if you are booking for next year, these rooms will now become a preferred category and you will pay extra for being close to the main building/food court/bus transportation/marina.

so they are not preferred this year?

We just returned on Sunday from our very first stay at WDW. We stayed at POR and I absolutely LOVED it!!!!

I had originally requested bldg 18, but when we got there we were given bldg 28. I looked at the resort map and didn't really want to be that far away so they said how about bldg 16 - perfect!

We stayed in bldg 16 room # 1656 and it was perfect. Our balcony overlooked the quiet pool, we were a two minute walk to the bus stop & the food court. I couldn't have asked for anything better. We could leave the stroller in the van each night to save room since the parking lot was just a few steps away.

Although my dh didn't enjoy Disney, and probaby won't return I am already planning another trip for 2 years from now. Both my mother and mother in law want to go to Disney so I've recruited them lol!!!

We also had an awesome mousekeeper who did special little things for the kids each day.

Can I post my POR pictures on this thread or do they need to go on the "picture" thread??

So every room in these buildings will be designated as preferred rooms, or just certain rooms that fit Disney's preferred criteria?

No one knows yet, but I'd bet that all of #14 at the very least will be preferred.

Glad you had a good time and have been bitten by the POR bug... :)

There's a separate POR photo thread which would be best to add your pics to, as this thread is not so much about vacation pictures as about FAQs and info. The photo thread is here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1730158. Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Does anyone remember vaguely what special activities they offered last year and what times? We are doing 7:15 Hoop and I was hoping there would be something at POR in the afternoon perhaps?

Go to portorleans.org to see the various activities; there are very few things in the afternoon other than taking the water taxi down to DTD. Some stuff is in the morning and the rest is early evening to late evening.

I'm glad you had a great trip. Is there any update that you could give us on the renovations that have been going on there?

Question about the buses. So, does Riverside share with POFQ most of the time? Will each resort have their own dedicated buses for the early morning park runs & the park closing bus runs? When they do share the order of the stops will be - POFQ, POR South Depot, West Depot, North Depot & finally East depot. Is this correct? TIA :goodvibes

They usually share, but during peak times and sometimes to the MK they will have Riverside and FQ buses going just to each resort.

POFQ is always the first stop, but we've found the order of stops within POR to vary. We've regularly used the South, North, and East depots equally (different trips) and the bus stop order has varied.

We recently stayed at CSR for the first time and although I like POR overall better than CSR, I LOVED CSR's bus system! The buses always stopped at the same stops in the same order making the last stop at the main building. That means you could hop on any park bus to get to the food court if you have a far-flung room. Genius! If POR could do this, starting at West, then North, then East and back to South that would be a great system IMHO.

Can you buy club soda in the POR gift shop? I'm addicted, so I'm hoping I can get it somewhere (I understand it's not available from the refillable drink station).

Thanks!

In most of the soda machines I've seen (like the ones used in the food courts), under one of the soda options there's a little black button (often says "Soda") that you can depress for club soda. Not sure if it's there at POR (haven't stayed there yet), but I know I've done that at other resorts.

Yes you can buy it at Fulton's General Store. The only reason I know this for sure is because when I was buying some souvieners the man ahead of me was looking for it. It was behind the counter with the alcohol for some reason :confused3 But yes you definiately could get it last week :)

As for the renovation question - I'm so sorry but I didn't even notice any renovations so I'm not sure what the progress would be

I think they would associate club soda more with a mix for the "hard stuff."

That is so funny that you mentioned you didn't notice any construction. If it is going on, they did a good job of hiding it! I am a facilities manager and an architect, so we really try to make it look like nothing major is going on.

I will be down there in 8 weeks - yippee - and I will definately check it out. I always manage to get in places, by starting out saying - "Yeah, I am an architect and a construction manager for facilities management......

Several years ago, I got an awesome tour of the exterior work going on at the BWI real early one morning.

If there is work going on at POR, I will find it!

You know I wouldn't even have noticed the painted tarps at MK if I hadn't seen the picture thread on Disboards  My dh didn't notice them either until I pointed them out.

Did you happen to notice if they had Crown Royal back there?

Thanks PIXIEDUST34. :goodvibes Any other opinions on the bus service? Have others found that there is no set order for the bus stops? :goodvibes
