Last year, we were at the end of Partierre Place, not far from the bridge between POR and FQ.
It took 5 minutes to walk to the main pool and hot tub.
It is bigger than other resorts, but it isn't really unreasonable IMO.

I've done some Google mapping too, and there is no room at Port Orleans Riverside which is more than 500 yards from the Food Court door (which is close to the main pool & hot tub area). From the mansion buildings, the maximum walk to the pool would be no more than about 425 yards, I guess - with most rooms a lot closer of course.

Unless you are very unlucky it really won't be a problem - once you've worked out the best route of course! LOL

I'll be visiting Port Orleans Riverside on a week's "research trip" (OK, OK, vacation!

) towards the end of this month. I'm meeting up with a few friends for a meal at Boatwright's early evening on Thursday 20th August, and we'll then be moving over to Riverside's 'River Roost Lounge' (where "Ye Haa" Bob plays) for drinks and a chat afterwards.

If anyone would like to pop along and say hi, please feel free to do so - we'll be at the River Roost Lounge from around 7.30pm onwards. Maybe see you there? It'd be great to meet up with some other site visitors.

Our trips will overlap - we will be there 11/28 - 12/6.

We're arriving 11/27 and leaving 12/4. There's 5 of us, so we should be at the Alligator Bayou section. I actually prefer the "rustic" look anyhow, so I'm looking forward to it.

We are just back from another great stay at POR.

Made 3 simple request (AB, top floor, quiet area) on reservation, did online check-in, got ALL our request when we arrived. Were in Bldg 26 facing several ponds, no foot traffic in that courtyard! Had a corner room too. POR was not crowded at all. Went to FQ for Beignets 2 mornings and they had a tour group it seemed and was crowded.

I was so glad to see they brought back the Caffeine free Diet Coke in the foodcourt. I missed it the few visits it was gone.

Have stayed at all the moderates, many of the deluxes and always come back to POR.

Hey, I stayed in that building last time! It was a lovely building (well, both that I've stayed in have been) and it felt really remote without being terribly far from anything!

I have heard about the trundle beds in POR RS (just booked for the princess half marathon) and wondered if there are any in Magnolia Plantation? Or only AB??? :confused3

I like the look of the Magnoila rooms better, but with 2 little kids who cannot share a bed would love to have the trundle over an air mattress for at least part of the trip.

Thanks! princess:

Only at AB! Magnolia Bend doesn't have the trundles. I've stayed in both sides and I love them both! :)

Thanks! I just looked at more pics and read more about PORS and I am getting more excited. Was a bit sad to have it be the only MOD choice for the Princess, but think it is turning out to be great! pixiedust:

The food court has some great choices, too. If the Princess is run anything like the marathon in January, the food court will be open for people to grab food before the race starts. My family REALLY appreciated the ability to get coffee before the race started (all the resorts did that). They just walked to the food court and then caught the bus.

I keep saying I'll branch out to a new resort but I've never managed to do it! :)

Hey Everyone,

I've been looking into some of the pirate options for our upcoming trip. Can't really afford to do them all........so which do you all think is better or do I need to donate some blood to do them all?pirate:

We're looking at the pirate bayou cruise which runs to and from POR or the Pirate League at MK? I know they are quite different from each other.... traveling is DS8 and DD7, not sure if she will really enjoy the league. do you all think she's too old to really enjoy the boutique? princess:

Any and all advice appreciated!:cheer2:

Your DD is the perfect age to do BBB. DD did BBB last year and DS did the Pirates League this year. They also did the Grand Floridian Pirate Cruise this year and really enjoyed it. Your kids are closer to the ideal age for the pirate cruise than mine were.
If I add up the cost of the 2 pirate cruises, Pirates League, and BBB, I would say it would be about $400 for everything. (Including Costumes) I know we spent a lot of money on all of this stuff, but I figure they are only young once and they won't want or be able to do all of this stuff later.
Good Luck with whatever you decide and have a great vacation!

It was a great location. We love walking and exploring the resorts we stay at. We were in 2648, I'll post pics of the view later today. We have stayed in the Bayou 6 times at least (lost count), and the Mansions 2 times. We prefer AB and my 14 yr old daughter loves sleeping on the trundle. We have to rent a roll-away at the other moderates and the mansions.

We had various Mickey towel heads on our bed and table each day. Housekeeping was great as was the condition of the room. The CM who checked us in was very nice and friendly. In fact we noticed how friendly ALL the CM's in the parks were this trip. had some nice conversations with them.

Thanks for your thoughts Atchley!

I went ahead & booked the Bayou cruises for both kids & Pirate League for my son..........I just bought a really cool pirate costume and a simply fabulous dress off ebay for my kiddos. Trying to cut off some of the high price of play this way at least. :rotfl2: I'm thinking I'll go ahead & do my DD hair & makeup for her princess lunch myself.....I'm pretty good at that kinda thing & she has some very princessey hair pieces from ballet recitals.princess: I'm just hoping she won't be disappointed by not having it done at BBB.....which she doesn't really know about anyway.

I'm now juggeling the cost of MNSSHP and trying to work that one in.......:headache:

And I thought I had everything so planned out...........NOT QUITE:scared1:

Thanks again!
Karen

Parking question:

I have a friend who lives in Tampa, who is coming to visit me (YAY!). We're probably going to catch dinner at Boatwright's sooooo how does she go about parking? I'm not going to have a car, for what that matters. Do I need to let anyone know? Does anyone care? Should she just tell people what my room # is?

(So excited to have her visit - she was my grade school best bud!)

At the gate she can just tell the security that she is there for dinner at boatwirights. SHe will need to show her driver's license and then she can park in the main lot closest to the lobby. No big deal. Have fun!
