i was thinking of putting a request in for building 16 or 18. on the map 16 doesn't look THAT far from the food court/main depot, but having never stayed here before, i have no idea how far it really is. i was going to avoid asking for 14/15 as that seems to be what everyone asks for, but wanted something close to the food court

We have stayed at POR in the past and will be staying here for a couple of nights in August. We have never used Magical Express before and are considering it for this trip. Does anyone know how long to expect it to take to get from MCO to POR? :confused3 Not sure which other resorts ME stops at along the way.

It all depends on how busy ME is when you arrive, how many people are going to your resort at that time. If most of the people on your bus are going to your resort, they will probably stop there first.

The last time I used ME we had a bus full of people all going to POR, so that was it's only stop. Given the size of POR (one of the largest if not the largest) it will more than likely be the case.

Magical Express is provided complimentary, so any way they can cut costs they will utilize. They will make every effort to avoid multiple stops for the buses if they can.

I know on the first page of this FAQ thread it said that the fridges don't have freezer compartments, but I could swear that I remembered them having a very teeny tiny compartment at the top, like just big enough for a couple of blue ice thingys. Anyone been there recently who can confirm or deny? I may be remembering another resort altogether!

I'm a very early riser and I could be up and killing time long before my family is awake. Is it possible to do a load of laundry at 5:00 AM, or are there set laundry room hours?

:tinker: Only 10 more days until we're checking into POR!

Your room key is also used to allow access to the laundry rooms.
I have been in there as early as 6am starting laundry.

i've done laundry in the wee hours... you have 24 hour access, but i strongly urge you to bring your own quarters... i've had many a change machine not work and be stuck with wet clothes and no way to dry them!

Sounds good--thanks!

Thanks! We always bring our own quarters and laundry supplies. I pack quarters in old 35 mm film containers, though we no longer buy film so I have to be sure to not throw away my containers. LOL I think quarters fit in mini-M&M containers, too.

If I get up very early, I might spend one morning doing laundry and reading my book. :goodvibes

when my kids were little, i would take at least one evening to go do laundry while dh put the kids to bed... i would enjoy a drink, some convo w/other moms, and a lounge chair... disney truly is magical when doing laundry becomes a treat! ;)

41 days to go and I'll be checking in. Can't wait since I haven't stayed here before.

I don't think they do. I know if you turn the thermostat all the way down and put a bottle of water next to the condensor, it will freeze the bottle, though.

You're right about that!! Doing laundry at WDW IS fun, and that is downright magical. I'm actually looking forward to doing laundry a couple of times during our trip! :lmao:

Useful info! If it does that, then we will be good to go!

Plastic prescription bottles work very nicely for quarters too - I found a size that's just a little bigger than the diameter of a quarter.

Hi! Just wanted to say that we returned on Tuesday and that POR is our new love.:lovestruc

We did online check in and had a previous request for building 14. Well, everything went perfect when we arrived. Our package was ready and we got our request. At 1pm our room was ready. Loved room location. Near the food court and a short walk to the main pool.

DH loved the make your own pasta. The food court had plenty to choose from IMHO. CMs were very nice there.

Mousekeeping was excellent. We got towel animals everyday. The room was thoroughly cleaned.

Compared to the other resorts we have stayed at, POR has been the most beautiful and peaceful. This will be our only choice from now on.

Hey Everyone,

I've been looking into some of the pirate options for our upcoming trip. Can't really afford to do them all........so which do you all think is better or do I need to donate some blood to do them all?pirate:

We're looking at the pirate bayou cruise which runs to and from POR or the Pirate League at MK? I know they are quite different from each other.... traveling is DS8 and DD7, not sure if she will really enjoy the league. do you all think she's too old to really enjoy the boutique? princess:

Any and all advice appreciated!:cheer2:

WOOHOO! I just booked my trip for May/June of next year! So exciting! :woohoo:

Requested Magnolia 85 or Oak Manor 90 (although it shows up Magnolia 58 not 85 on the ressie...is that a problem you think?) so we'll see what room I get! :)

I just can't seem to make the leap and decided POR or FQ. I have read and read, looked and looked, even 3d mapped.

My husband is worried about how big it is(POR that is). Say to get tothe hot tub for a quick evening relax or to the bus etc....If I request a NW room with water pool room in Magnolia Terrace or South West of Accadian for Dec 7-17th will that be a fairly reasonable request, and will it be a reasonable walk compared to the FQ?

Lord I have never been good at decisions, and this should not be that hard! I feel silly worrying about a few steps when we are going to the World and will be walking a gazillion miles!
