We'll be there Sept 4-12.
It's the first time my wife and I will be down there alone, and we are looking forward to it. We usually have a party of 8-10 with her sister and fam as well as the in-laws.
We can't wait to snack around the world again!!!

We'll be there the 5th thru the 14th. Our first trip to WDW. Our anniversary and DH's birthday. I think POR is going to be great. Love all the trees.

Our anniversary is later that month. (Sept 21) My wifes birthday is Oct 1 so we miss both of those.

2 weeks until I'm on a plane flying to POR!:cloud9:

DU let us now how the check in goes. I'm thinking we'll do that as well.

We are thinking about staying at POR in December, and I have some questions:

1) My son (will be 15) loves to fish. Are you allowed to fish without a Florida fishing license? Can I pay for him to fish or does an adult have to go with him?

2) What drink options are there (besides soda) if you get the refillable mug for children? (Are milk or juice available?)

3) Will my older children (15 & 17) be able to do the paddle boats/bikes without us?

4) Can you really swim in December without freezing???

Thanks so much! :)

no license required for fishing and yes, i'm sure he can go by himself...

don't know about the drink options, but milk and juice are typically not offered for the refillable mugs at other resorts... there may be lemonade as an alternative to soda...

i believe the paddleboats go by age and height... they should be able to go sans parents...

it depends on the december... some years yes, other years no... it also depends on how hearty your family is... my kids have swam in jan and feb, but they often had the pool to themselves!

Hello POR fans!:goodvibes

After much agonizing and going back and forth about it, we have finally decided to stay at POR on our next trip!!

It will either be in November (I got a free dining PIN) or in January. Right now we are leaning towards November.

We have stayed at all the other moderates, so we are looking forward to trying POR and hope that we love it as much as we do CBR!

Now I am off to research anything and everything POR! :surfweb:

Hello, I read through the Confirmed Snacks list over on the DDP board and did not see muffins listed for POR. I also searched this thread for any mention of muffins as snack credits with no luck.

Muffins are listed as snacks pretty much everywhere else, but not POR. Has anyone that has stayed at POR on the DDP recently been able to get a muffin using a snack credit?

I've been looking for the menu for River Roost, and all of the online menus are a couple of years old. Does anyone have a link to a current River Roost menu? I know that it's mostly appetizers/drinks, but I'd like to know what's available if possible. If you've been to the River Roost recently, what did you eat? : )

48 days until we're at POR! :dance3:

In less than 12 hours I will be in flight to the Happiest Place On Earth! I'm so excited!! Can't wait to see POR for the first time.

Wish me good weather and crowds. I'll be checking in while I'm there on my iPhone.

This should help:

Thank you. I did see the link, but the menu there is 4 years old and I'm certain that it's been overhauled with food/drink choices and prices since then. I wonder why none of the sites have a recent (within the past year) menu for River Roost? They do still serve food, right?

When I was there in January, I don't recall seeing MUCH for food options at the River Roost... and I don't recall seeing a lot of people having more than drinks (but I wasn't looking very hard!).

Thank you for the info. I was thinking we might be able to enjoy a light/late dinner there while enjoying Pianoman Bob's show if they had a nice variety of offerings, but maybe we'll grab something to eat at Riverside Mill before the show.

For the most part, the food you can order at the River Roost seemed to be appitizer type stuff, not regular dinner items.
That being said, you can grab your food from the Riverside Mill, and carry it to the River Roost to eat it.

The latest info I have is from mid-2008, located at: http://www.portorleans.org/riverroost.php

Maybe Princess Amy (who is probably on her way to POR right now) could pick up some info while she's there and send it to me later and I'll update the page?

There is no place to enter a specific room request using online check-in. If I remember correctly, you can choose a pack and play, refrigerator (which I didn't quite understand because all of the moderates have them!), and there may have been a ground floor option as well. I had made my specific request when I made my reservation. When I checked in with the online check-in, the room I had been assigned was farther away from the main building than I had wanted (but I did get the Magnolia Bend section and top floor requests met). It took about 5 minutes to check in. It would've been quicker, except I asked for a different room and the cast member had to get the case of water I had delivered to the resort.

If I do the on-line check-in, does it tell me where my room is? This post above leads me to believe that is so. That would be cool to know your room or at least building ahead of time!

In my original post, I may not have been clear. I did not find out my room number or building ahead of time.

When I checked in at the resort at the online check-in desk I was given my room assignment. Sorry for the confusion.

Figaro8398: Thanks for clearing that up. We haven't done online checkin for our trip starting this Sunday - but if that was something we would learn - I was ready to check-in.
