Hello!
We are staying at POR for our first trip at the end of April. We are bringing a car and plan on using it to get around for the most part. Should I request a room near a parking lot? Or are the parking lots close enough that it's not necessary? We are a family of 5 so we will be in AB right?

You will most likely be in Alligator Bayou, yes (how young is the youngest person? Under three does not count in terms of occupancy figures).

The parking lots are all around the outside of the resort, so no builidng is too far from a parking space.

I am so excited now that I am booked at POR. And even more excited that I found this wealth of information through this thread, though I must admit I haven't read the entire thing yet. But, there is plenty of time for that.

We will be in the Alligator Bayou area. Can someone tell me which building is best for us. We would like to be close to things such as the main pool and some of the other recreational facilities? Any and all suggestions will be very much appreciated.

And we have never eaten at Boatwrights, is there food any good, the CM while booking was kinda pushing it down my throat.

Well I have blabed long enough, Can you tell I'm excited?

If you do get the Alligator Bayou section (and remember that it is only a request, not a guarantee) then buildings 14-18 and 27 are pretty good locations. 14 is the best, if you are lucky enough to get that one.

Thanks so much I was looking at the map and I would agree that 14 would be the best. Here's to hoping. And the only reason I think that I am getting the Alligator Bayou room is becasue we are a family of 5. So if I am not mistaken we would be put into that section because of the trundle beds.

Plus can anyone give me an opinion on Boatwrights?

There have been some recent reports of families of 5 being assigned the Mansions. (We were assigned AB twice - just 2 of us).

On the UK board it has been reported that the trundles are being removed from AB altogether - no idea of the source is accurate, but a guest tried to make a reservation for several months from now and they would not allow it. She spoke with a supervisor as well. Unfortunately, sometimes CM's in reservations have inaccurate information, so no way to know for sure right now. Unless Andre has heard something perhaps?

Bldg 14 is one of the most requested locations, so have a back-up ready at check-in.:thumbsup2

I have also been asking whether POR and POFQ are ever scheduled for the queen sized beds that are in Coronado Springs and have not received an answer. Anyone now abou this?

Nadre :) has indeed looked into this rumour (if for no other reason than I'm staying there in August and we'd like a trundle bed too!). I replied in that UK thread on 19 March, saying:

I just called the resort (OK, the call center people) and after a little persuasion managed to get an answer passed on from the Office Operations Manager directly at Riverside who said (quote) "there is no way that they are going to get rid of the trundle beds".

Of course sometimes these things get decided at even higher levels, but for now I'd put more trust in that response than in an operator at the UK reservations center. I suspect it's more likely a UK-thing to simplify their procedures, but with Disney nothing is ever set in stone - apart from Arthur's sword, anyway. :)

I've not heard anything at all I'm afraid. CSR being a conference hotel may have got some sort of special treatment of course.

Aren't typos great??:rotfl: I'm sorry, Andre...that's what I get for typing faster than I am able! :guilty:

Lou-Ann, my thinking is the same as Andre on the queen beds at CSR. It is more to offer the conference attendees. Most conference resorts offer queen beds.

CBR is in the process of refurbishment, but no queen beds and those are the largest moderate rooms (about same as WL & AKL rooms, excluding the deluxe rooms at those properties).

Thanks for the info. I really don't mind what section they put us into as long as we aren't too far from everything. We will have a car but I would feel like a really lazy person if I drove from place to place just to get around the resort. Though I wouldn't hesitate to do it if I had too.
Any suggestions on the best buildings in the Mansions?

Having problems with the computer at work, but does anyone have any sort of opinion of Boatwrights?

we enjoyed boatwrights both times we ate there... i recall a very good prime rib and a wonderful much-needed cocktail! ;)

I just booked myself in POR for May 2 - 6th and requested the Magnolia section. *crosses fingers that I get it*

I am getting there probably around 9pm-ish; we decided just to stay at th resort for that night. Should I make a reservation for Boatwrights?

Where is Yeeah Bob playing? Maybe we can catch him if he's still playing after 9pm?

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace and loved it. On the map everything looks far from everything else, but I found that Magnolia Terrace was pretty centrally located. There's a bus stop right behind the bldg, a short hop over the bridge to Ol' Man Island and then another short hop to the Main building.

If I can remember correctly, Yehaa Bob plays until midnight Wed.- Sat.
It's a good show and a lot of fun. He plays in the River Roost off the lobby. The staff is very friendly. I believe the server we had was Annie. She was a hoot.

Not necessarily. There was a post on here a few months ago from someone who was really angry. They were a family of five, so assumed they'd be in the Alligator Bayou section with a trundle bed. Instead they were given a room in the mansions and the resort brought a roll away bed in. I was at PORS in early Sept and I know the thread was posted just before I left for my trip, so this occurred sometime in August, I guess.

My DD would be thrilled, lol,she doesnt like the bedspreads in AB  and is really stressing over them! Oh the problems you have at 8! ROFL!

Can anyone tell me which building in Bayou has the handicapped kings with roll in showers? I would so appreciate knowing this. thanks......

Low-Ann, bldg 14 has some for sure (we had a 1st fl corner one) - it is also the closest bldg to the food court. :)

I heartily recommend Magnolia Terrace (the whole mansion section is called Magnolia Bend...so be careful what you request. When I first put in my request, I did ask for Magnolia Terrace. When I called to check on my requests, before I did online check in, I was told my request was just for 'Magnolia'. NOT. Got that fixed.). Magnolia Terrace is located near a bridge to Ole Man Island, where the theme pool is. A few minute walk, and you are at the next bridge to the main buildings (food court, Fultons, marina, check in,lounge, piano bar, BOB, etc). East bus stop is located behind Mag Terrace.

I put in a request for the 2 buildings closest to POFQ. :)

Oak and Parterre - I think the South Depot also works well for these two buildings. We are there for only 3 nights really and it's all parks, all the time. :lmao:

So, all those bus stops are making me nervous!! I'm still debatig on whether to book any breakfast meals, but chances are with dining crazy as it is, it would not happen anyway. :upsidedow

Hello all;

I will be going to WDW in 11 days. Staying at Port Orleans for the first time and I can't wait.
