I just got off the phone with POR, and the CM stated that Old Mans Island is still being refurb'ed and there is no exact ETA, but that it is still standing at "Late Feb". I am not sure about the PP who said on another thread that is was done...but I just talked to the CM there about 15 mins ago. Perhaps it is still in the final phase of refurb. or perhaps someone jumped the gun on it.

I just thought I would share, for those who don't know, that bell services does have cold storage available if your room is not ready. This was actually my main reason for calling because the shopping service is delivering our food at 1pm, and if the room is not ready for us, we will need to leave it with bell services until we get into our room, and we have perishable food being delivered. Just an FYI in case anyone else wondered about this. :wizard:

About the pool, I would trust our fellow Dissers over the CM at a call center. Disney is not the quickest about getting information out, even to its own CM.

It actually was not a CM at a call center...I called POR directly, it was a POR CM who told me. I would hope they would know if the pool there was open! I hope it is open though, however I would feel a bit weary of staying at a place, Disney or not, who did not know if their pool was open! :lmao:

When you (think) you are calling a resort directly..... you are actually calling a call center. So the CM you talked with may not know if the pool is open or not. ;)

This is what the post said:
A lovely woman from Guest Services called me today and told me that the pool refurbish was completed and the pool was opened today.Yayyyy!

It is from here post#140

Oh really? I didn't know that! I wonder how people go about calling the resort directly? This is excellent news! :cool1: That is unusual to have calls to resorts routed to a call center...I guess it's a money saving tactic. Why have one person at each resort when they can have 1 person answer for a whole bunch of resorts. LOL! I assumed I was calling POR directly since I looked the # up in the yellow pages! :lmao:

That was something that I learned from these boards. ;) :disrocks:

counting down...

Thanks to everyone who posted their pictures!!

A couple of questions...

1. Now seeing some pictures of the trundle bed, I am concerned that if that's going to work for my ds, it looks small, and I don't want to ended up picking them up from the floor 10 times a night. They have race car beds at home, which have all 4 sides, so they love to roll in their beds.
2. I read in one of the posts mentioned the dirt on the floor, anyone can tell me if they are clean on the floor or the area around the trundle bed?
3. Also, last question, anyone can tell me is it really a long wait for the shuttle buses?

Thanks a lot!!

My son and nephew switch off using the trundle, and they are both over 20 and over 6 ft tall.

I just read a POR review on the All Ears site that talked about the daily Mardi Gras parade complete with floats & beads. This is the first time I've ever heard of this, and I was wondering if it's something they do only during Mardi Gras? Anyone have any details? (Seems odd that it would be at POR & not POFQ.) The reviewer really enjoyed it and I was wondering if anyone else had seen it, or had pics. Thanks in advance...

Only 24 says until our foirst stay at POR!!!
I have wanted to stay there for a long time but it never worked out.
SO EXCITED!!!

I requested for a King bed and a double with trundle bed, 2 rooms next to each other, but I don't even know if it's possible and what's my options are...

I am looking for a direct number to POR or the back office/room assignments. Anyone have one?
Thanks!
Tam

Several phone numbers are listed in the very 1st post of this thread. Check out those.

There is no actual direct resort number any longer. All calls go to a call center (even from your room when you touch Front Desk). The call center opr will answer by the resort name and will not easily admit it is not actually the front desk. S/he will add requests to the reservation (have a friend who works in the call center).

So, the only way to make a request is on your reservation and some guests will fax the resort 4 days prior to arrival.

When at the resort, the best way to speak with the front desk is to go in person.

Have a great trip!!

Does anyone know if there are mattress protectors/mattress pad/vinyl sheet/etc. available at POR? Something to "waterproof" the mattress.

We are heading down there in April and DS will have been potty trained for just a little over three months. He is doing really well at night, but you know, you never know. I was wondering if there was anything protecting the mattress beyond the sheets or if not available on all beds, if I could request it from housekeeping?

I'd appreciate any info!!! Thanks ~~~
