Can someone tell me if they turn on the campfire during the summer? Do they have towels by the main pool? Can you request a roll away bed in a room that has a trundle in it? Thanks in advance. :goodvibes Can't wait to visit POR!

No.
Yes.
Probably not.

Have a great trip!

We are staying at POR in September for our first trip ever!! YAY! I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good location for a room that would not be a lot of walking to the main bus stop/food court? TIA!

Alligator Bayou 14 is best, followed by 15, 16, 18 and 27.

I see that Alligator Bayou is mostly rooms with trundle beds. But are there any king size rooms there? We are a family that needs 2 rooms. 1 with 2 beds and another with a king. Is there a way to be in Alligator Bayou and these 2 types of rooms be together? TIA!

Moved my reservation from POP to POR. Going solo. Hope I made the right choice. From what I saw on Andre's site it was to good to pass up. Thanks Andre for one the most helpful sites I have ever visited. Ill be there Feb17-24th. Im sick of the cold and snow! Looking forward to it! :yay:

Yes, there are some King Bed rooms in Alligator Bayou (they do not have the extra trundle beds by the way, only the Double Bed rooms have those). You can request a King connected to a Double, but the total options would be rather limited and might not be available on the day you happen to arrive. Remember that connecting rooms are not guaranteed, they are only a request.

Thanks for the compliments, glad you found my site useful. I'll be at POR the same time as you, so I really hope you enjoy your stay or I'd better watch my back.... LOL.

Thank You for your response! And my Mom has your site as a favorite on her taskbar! She wanted to go to POR but after looking at that site she said there is no doubt in her mind where we are staying! Thank you!!

We just booked our trip in September for POR!! YAY! I requested a view of the river and the lady told me that all of those rooms are in the back of the resort? Is this true? Or is there a room I can get a river view and still be close to the main bus stop and food court?? We are so excited to stay at POR, it looks absolutely beautiful!

I guess the training standards at Disney's Reservations Center have dropped a bit recently... :)

The river view rooms at POR are the most centrally located and offer the best access for the main buildings and the main swimming pool area (Ol' Man Island). Some of them may be a little bit further from the parkings lots - see the map on the first page of this thread for the resort layout - but at worst you're only talking 200 yards or so. River view would be (and is!) my preference every time.

That is what I thought when I looked at the map. I thought for a minute I might be missing a river or something beyond the main road! :rotfl:

So we now have confirmed (i hope:worship:) our resv at POR for the 3rd of July to the 13th:cool1:.This will be the 4th change to the resvp,we have gone back and fourth between POP and POR,ok It was me:rolleyes1 I cant blame anyone else. I would like to blame Disney for makeing so many nice resorts:confused3, but its my faults:sad2:. So heres my question, I just took the standard with a request for AB. Is the request for water view worth the extra$. The last time we where there we recieved Bldg#14 faceing the parking lot nice to get to the bus stop but not much of a view. We also wanted It close to a smoking area,so any recmmendations?

Staying here at Port Orleans Riverside right now, having a great time even though the temperature in Orlando is a bit on the low side! It's fine when the sun is out, but a bit chilly when it's not (high yesterday was around 55!). They say today will be a little warmer, but still a record low for President's Day. That said, we're Brits so we've come from sub-freezing and snow on the ground a couple of days ago so this is positively balmy.

We went swimming in the main pool at 6.30pm on Saturday when it was around 50 degrees outside, but the water was nicely heated and steaming. :) We come home on Sunday, the day before the temperatures are forecast to be back up in the 80s, typical!!

We've got a fabulous upper floor, river view, corner room in Oak Manor, which is exactly what I requested (right down to the room number from a block I said we'd prefer if possible). The view over the river is lovely, with the ferry boats going up and down the Sassagoula River and the horse-drawn carriages in the evening. We've got a live video webcam of the view running at the moment, you can see the feed and find the links to the live chat area/etc via www.portorleans.org.

I've never stayed a POP, but I did do a quick visit there. You'll appreciate the extra money you spent on POR. The two resorts are worlds apart.

I pay for the water view at POR mostly because I really did not want to be facing a Parking Lot. So for me it is worth it. If I was a POP it would be because I wanted to save money and I really wouldn't care about view. I got a free upgrade to waterview once at CSR and liked that a lot too. although, It occured to me that Disney's waterview has a very wide definition.

I know at POP you request the room by faxing in usually a few days before you arrive. How do you put in your request at POR? I have been watching the video off and on all morning long and dreaming! I am here in Ohio and we just had 9 inches of snow which has not melted, now they are talking of adding on another foot!!

I usually make my request when I make my reservation. Some time before we arrive, I call CRO to make sure our requests are properly listed. Most times POR has been very accommodating as long as they are not filled to capacity.

Christmas is one of the bussiest times of the year for WDW so they don't often offer much of anything late in December, though you can usually get deals in the first two weeks of December.

The week between Christmas and New Years is one of the single bussiest weeks you can get.
