We just changed dates and therefore had to switch from POFQ to POR.

I like the look of the magnolia style buildings and rooms. Which building should I request to be a reasonable distance from both a bus stop and the main building?

Also, they told me on the reservations line that there is a refurb scheduled, but the lady was like "I think it will be done by the time you get here, but let me check" (October 1) then came back on the line and said its not guaranteed to be done until spring 2012. Any idea what the actual time line is?
Just back from a March stay at POR. Very busy, but we did notice that the Partierre parking lot was darn empty. Either everyone there used ME, or they weren't using all of those rooms. Made me wonder at the time, if that is where the renovations would be starting, and now I read, that is the case! Our favorite building is Magnolia terrace. Close to the East bus stop, and close to the bridge to ole man island, where the theme pool is. We got stuck in Oak Manor this visit(no luck with requests this time). Although it is fairly close to the other footbridge across the river to the main buildings (and then the South bus stop), it is further from the East bus stop, which is the other recommended stop for this building. AND, one of the designated 'smoking' stations is located on the walkway to here-several park benches along the walkway along the river. you need to walk by this area to get from that closer bridge to Oak. No such place by Magnolia Terrace that I've ever seen (can you tell I'm a non-smoker?)So, if anyone in your party is a smoker might affect your decision.

Remember that building 14 is now a preferred location, so you can pay specifically for it (you will be guaranteed somewhere in 14, 15, 18 or 27). You are much less likely to get building 14 simply by requesting it now, as that would technically be considered a free upgrade.

Andre.

Are the accessible rooms still in #14? I was originally told they are ONLY in 14. We are a party of 5 and suspect we will be there.

There are accessible rooms in other places too, but AB 14 has more than the average I think. Some of the mansion buildings, for example, have accessible rooms right next to the lifts on all three floors. See the photos near the bottom of this page: http://www.portorleans.org/gallery-guest-BC.php (there is also a neat little sketch of the room layout that the guests sent me, last photo on the page)

I'm with you about Magnolia Terrace. I find it so convenient, that I am surprised that parts of it is not considered, Preferred.

Thanks a lot! This helps relieve our worries. We are so afraid that they will forget we have 5 people and give us a regular room though... so the connecting room is for the rest of the party right?

So which buildings are considered preferred? Only AB 14, 15, 18 & 27? Are any of the mansions considered preferred?

we are 100% bus people,we do not rent a car at all. So we will be at POR this Sept 20th to the 27th. What are the crowds like at the bus stops at POR genrealy in the Morining,if there Is a genrealy answer?:rotfl2:. We are use to POP Bus crowds, better worse?:goodvibes

we are going from september 16th thru the 26th and paid for a room with a king size bed. are these located anywhere specific or are they "sprinkled" throughout the resort?

Will be visiting Disney and staying @ POR with two kids and neice.

First stay @ POR, last stayed at value resort. Looking forward to MOD and hoping room wont feel too cramped with two teens and two adults. Requested to stay in Magnolia Bend, does anyone know how often request are honored?

:dance3:

When you are that open minded; it most likely will get honored.

If you had said Magnolia Bend, pool view, first floor, then your chances diminised.

But they cannot always honor requests, but they do the best they can - you will most likely definately be in the mansions.

Oh, and I stayed 4 adults to the room one year, so you won't have any issues. Best to take a surge protector with you - we had lots of electrical appliances (cell phone chargers, battery rechargers for cameras, etc.) It came in real handy.

Also a shoe caddy that you can hang over the bathroom door and each person gets a row.

Two people share each sink.

You each get a couple of hangers. Put shoes under the bench; jackets and backpacks on the hatrack and odds and ends on the top shelf.

Each person gets one drawer row (top drawer row is two small drawers, but same size capacity as the large drawers).

Put the suitcases along one wall and that person exits the bed out the end.

Piece of cake!

King bed rooms are indeed sprinkled. :)

Andre

Are there King rooms in AB too? I pictured the majority of them being in the mansions, considering many AB rooms house 5 people and the mansions don't. That's my logic :lmao:

We are also 100% bus people and are curious for a review of the transportation, going to be there Sept. 17-24th. They dispatch buses specifically for the outlying bus stops correct? So if we don't use the main bus stop, we won't just be left standing forever until there is finally room on a bus to pick us up!

They make a loop; sometimes it goes one way, sometimes the other.

I have gone in both directions.
