Awesome, thanks for the responses. We LOVE POR,, but with my husband being 6' 250 pounds, I end up getting a little piece of the bed and don't get much sleep. So we have been staying in Deluxes, not that I am complaining.:cool1: But yippee we can go to POR again.

Thanks again for responding.

Have a magical day.

Does anyone know where I can find a listing of food and beverage items available in the gift shop. I would love to know what is available and how much stuff costs. Not sure if we should arrange to get food delivered or if we can wing it with the gift shop food. My DD6 has food allergies so it there are some things we need.

We're checking in on Friday. Since there are 5 of us in our immediate family, we normally have to stay in AB. Although that's cool, we're traveling with my mom & sister this time, so we have the ability to stick a kid in the room with them and finally get to stay in the mansion houses. We'll be checking in fairly early in the afternoon, probably about 2 PM. What are the chances we'll get our request to stay in one of the mansions? We have a waterview room, and would love to overlook the Sassagoula. We've already requested a first floor room for medical reasons. I hate making a bunch of requests, but this is the only time we'll have the opportunity to stay in the mansions. Do I have chance of getting my way? Also, can anyone recommend a buidling? We were thinking Magnolia Bend (or Terrace, whatever it is) or Oak Manor? Thanks!!!

There are photos of all the consumables fixtures in Fulton's General Store on my site - the latest are in the October 2010 section of http://www.portorleans.org/gallery-POR-Main.php

I'm afraid that tracking all the prices would be next to impossible to keep up to date - let's just say rather a lot more than WalMart...!

I received the free dining in the mail yesterday. I have never gotten a pin in the mail before. Booking the family suite would cost $600 more than POR for this family of 5 with the FD so we are officially booked at POR...savings!!!!woohoo! It will be a tight fit because my kids are older but we don't really hang out in the room, but we do like to hang out at the resort so POR fits the bill nicely. My only room request was close to main building.

Our dining is the QSDP which sounds great for us as we end up cancelling ADR's because no one is hungry. This is the first time we are trying the QS.

Yay!

I got a pin as well, and have been sitting here for 2 days with my card. I think I'm just going to go ahead and make the reservation! It's going to be super tight for us, 4 kids, one being 2, but oh well...

I have stayed there with myself and three girlfriends and it worked rather well.

We hung a shoe organizer over the bathroom door and put all of our incidentals in it.

Two of us each shared the sinks.

We put four laundry bags (I have the round pop-up types) in the bottom of the closet. Each of us got two or three hangers for the "good" stuff.

We hung our jackets on the hat rack, put our backpacks on the bench and stowed our shoes underneath.

We each got a drawer in the armoire.

We placed all the suitcases along one wall between the side of the bed, and I just got out at the end of the bed.

We also took a surge protector for electrical items, since we each had our own cell phone, battery chargers, etc.

The accessible rooms are always king bed rooms and mostly corner rooms, as far as I know.

I have been in a king room three times and they have always been on the corner (so you get two windows). Once I had the accessible room; the other two times I did not.

Also worth noting that Accessible rooms are not always on the ground floor, some are on higher floors but very close to the elevators.

We leave tomorrow for POR - yay! Check in Friday. Can anyone recommend what building to request to stay in the mansions? I'm thinking Magnolia Terrace or Oak Manor? There are 5 of us, so we normally have no choice but AB, but we're travelling with 2 people, so we can shift a kid to their room and have the opportunity to try the mansion houses. Thank you in advance for your input!

I am just the opposite... this is our 1st time at POR and really want to stay in AB but need an accessible room for DM.

Your room is most likely been assigned by now; but you can request either Magnolia or Oak Manor.

They are both close to quiet pools and both accessible by the bridge over to the main building; Magnolia is closer to the food court side and Oak Manor (my fav) is closer to the building entrance, marina and bus side.

That may very well be true, but I'm not above begging :)

I am really hoping they can honor the request. I love POR, but I don't see having the opportunity to stay in the mansions again anytime soon, unless we start getting two rooms. It will be like experiencing a whole new resort, which still being able to enjoy the beauty of POR's grounds and the river!

But you recommend Oak Manor? Any reason other than it's closer to the marina and buses? Close to the buses is a good selling point though!

They are both close to quiet pools.

I'm pretty sure I read earlier this week that the Magnolia Bend Leisure Pool was closed right now for refurb. I think through the end of April.

There are two quiet pools in the Magnolia Bend area, but I'm not sure which one is shut at the moment - can anyone confirm?

I'd agree that Oak or Magnolia are both great locations by the way. I kinda like the walk over Ol' Man Island, so Magnolia would be my choice, but Oak is slightly closer for the main bus stop and shop area.

I don't know why you're having problems either, the server is running fine. Is anyone else having difficulties?

Is there any mention of the schedule for the Building Refurb.?

Is there any mention of the schedule for the Building Refurb.?

Not yet; Andre and I found the building permit for Parterre Place has been filed and a different contractor has been awarded the project.

It is assumed that the refurb will begin sometime after POFQ is completed around April. So expect around May.

They have stated that it will take about 12 - 15 months; since it is a much larger site, with much larger buildings, and they are also refurbing the elevators in the Mansions.
