Sorry about that Neph!!! I forgot I was one of those "special" people. I have insider access to all kinds of important stories. Yeah, right! I just registered with the Sentinel because I figured, if I'm gonna be livin' there I should at least keep up with all the goings-on, right? :teeth:

Here is the story from the Orlando Sentinel:

Animation flourishes for Disney
Led by Kim Possible and Lilo & Stitch, the company's TV animation unit is bustling with projects.
By Richard Verrier
Sentinel Staff Writer

November 11, 2003

It wasn't long ago that Walt Disney Co.'s TV animation unit toiled away in the shadow of the film studio, a relatively obscure facet of the company's entertainment empire.

But that was before Kim Possible and Lilo & Stitch came onto the scene. The TV animation division is enjoying a much higher profile these days thanks to these animated hits on the Disney Channel.

No longer relying solely on the film studio to generate new characters that can feed Disney's much-needed merchandise sales, Disney increasingly is turning to its TV animation unit to launch original characters, as well as leverage existing ones.

"We've been part of the company that is primarily known for making movies. Now we're part of the company that is primarily making television, so we feel like we've found a home with a group of people that values what we do," said Barry Blumberg, president of Walt Disney Television Animation.

"This frees us up to do things we've never been able to do before. We're going to do more shows and we're going to take more risks," he said.

The animation unit is busier than it has been in its 20-year history. Led by Kim Possible and Lilo, there are five series in production with nearly 50 projects in development.

"Disney's TV production arm is creating sustainable franchises for the company in a way that's similar to the film studio," said Jordan Rohan, an analyst with Soundview Technology Group.

Disney is expected to unveil this week the newest entry in its lineup, Disney's Dave the Barbarian, an animated comedy series set in the Middle Ages.

Created by improvisational comic and animator Doug Langdale, the television series follows Dave's adventures with his family as they protect themselves from a world of comical foes.

Set to debut in January, the cartoon series is among three new productions that Disney's TV animation unit will debut next year in the hopes of grabbing a bigger slice of the fiercely competitive kids cable television market.

More than 30 Disney TV animation series air seven days a week on Disney Channel, Toon Disney and ABC in more than 80 countries. To ramp up production and allow TV animators to work more closely with the cable programmers airing their shows, Disney integrated the TV animation unit into the company's ABC Cable Networks Group in January.

Previously, the operation had come under the umbrella of the film studio. The group was formed in 1984 as the primary source of animation for afternoon syndication and Saturday morning television on ABC.

But the growth of Disney's stable of cable channels, especially the Disney Channel, has created much more demand for original animated TV series, executives say.

The elevation of the TV animation unit, which employs about 300, is a key plank in Disney's strategy to take on Viacom Inc.'s Nickelodeon and Time Warner Inc.'s Cartoon Network, as kids programming increasingly shifts from network television to cable TV.

TV animation has become an important contributor to the success of the Disney Channel, which has grown in the past 15 years, to more than 83 million households from 14 million.

In the past two years, the cable channel has vaulted from third place to No. 1 in ratings among 9-year-olds to 14-year-olds because of the success of original live action movies and original series such as Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens.

But the channel also has made inroads among younger viewers who typically have been the domain of Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Year-to-date, Disney Channel ranked No. 2 in ratings, closely behind Nickelodeon, among 6- to 11-year-old kids, a 53 percent jump in ratings during the past year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

That's largely due to the success of two TV animation productions: Kim Possible, which made its debut in June 2002, and a TV series spinoff from the Disney movie Lilo & Stitch.

The series has become one of the top-rated kids shows since it premiered Oct. 12 and represents the first time Disney has developed a cartoon spinoff specifically for its flagship cable channel.

"They're becoming an important contributor to our success," said Rich Ross, president of entertainment for the Disney Channel. "They're great building blocks for us."

Afternoon all! Just got back from the mall. I had a fashion emergency come up for DD. She is 11 months old & I had ordered her Christmas Dress from a friend who had a "Ragsland" party. The dress was overpriced, but very cute. Anyway, a letter came yesterday that said their plant had been struck by lightning on September 11 & caught fire so they would not be filling my order. So, Lainie has no dress for Christmas Eve!! I found a dress today that was about 1/2 as much as the one I had ordered, so I am happy. This holiday season is going to be CRAZY!!!! My husband's younger sister is getting married on the 27th of December. I am a bridesmaid, DH is a groomsmen & DS is the ring bearer. Here is the problem, all the girls in the wedding are about 23 years old, never had babies, never breastfed babies...and we are wearing STRAPLESS dresses!!!! aaaaahhhh!!!:scared1: :scared: :headache: :faint:

HuggaBaloo, thanks for the article. Interesting stuff.

Bichon Barb, let us know how Elf is, I want to see it but haven't decided if I want to shell out the $$$ or wait for DVD.

Ohanafamily - your mailbox is full again! I already typed up my reply and I am going to post it here because I don't want to lose it again. Everybody else - I'm sorry, please excuse the following:

First things first, I can't live without my computer long enough for it to go to the doctor (shop). It's like an arm is missing, between needing it for work and my addiction to the net. I believe we may do this though after we buy a new one and keep it around for the kids. It just gets "stuck" alot, won't respond. Also, seems like it's thinking about something else and won't do what I'm telling it to do. (Kinda like my DH;) ). It is 5 years old, so I figure it's time for a new one. You're absolutely right about the cost of those devices vs. a low end laptop. That's what I thought you'd say.

So, in order to get a digital camera that will take reliable action and distance shots, how much do you think I'd have to pay and what type goodies am I looking for it to have? Still weighing this problem to see if we should go ahead with one or the other now and get the other later. Our video camera works fine, I just reeeaaallly want a smaller one.

Thanks again for you time.

Ok - everybody else. I haven't read through the last 24 hours post, so I'll be back later after I do that.

Good Afternoon to all Good Afternoon to all

and a c o l o r f u l rest of the day

work is just overloading today.. so i have to go back and be a busy bee so to speak..

just wanted to say hi and leave chocolate mickey bars for a nice afternoon snack... and an especially BIG Choocolate Mickey Dove Bar
for the TAG FAIRY

llebrekniT, Sorry, I keep trying to empty it; it must take into account the sent ones as well as the received ones...

I will PM you later tonight with a few things that might help.....

Also,
I would look into the camcorder that takes the stills since they are small and you can "Double duty" them. I like a seperate camera, plan to spend $400-$600 on a decent Digital camera (Again, I would go by a local store and play with the camcorders and the cameras and see what DH likes.....

I just posted my next installement in my trip report, and I posted the entire day #3. It is a little long, but it is the section that everybody seems to want to see...namely, Nephosaurus and all of the girls he tries to impress.....

HuggaBaloo, great story. As the final installment of my trip report (our last day) will show, I bought a stuffed Rufus (with total desregard for RRBB's desires)...I look forward to the new show.

geffric, calm down and don't let work get to you.....or we may have to have another intervention.....

deadheadbelle, Elf was great. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars out of four. I may be a bit partial, though, 'cause I love Will Farrell. I think it could become a Christmas classic. I'm glad I bought the tickets over the phone ahead of time, because the show was sold out.

Oh and about the breastfeeding, I stood up in a wedding while I was still nursing Hunter. Thankfully one of the other bridesmaids had recently had a baby too, so we stood our ground and got our way -- off-the-shelf "real" Liz Claiborne dresses. Got through the day with no leaks too. ;)

Thanks for the review, Barb! I really want to see it. I love Will Farrell, too. I loved "Old School", did you? I have a huge crush on Vince Vaughn. My birthday is next Tuesday & my DMIL is going to watch the kids so DH & I can go to the movies. I think we are going to see Kill Bill though. As for the bridesmaid dresses, DSIL's fiance has a sister who is in the wedding who had a child around the same time my DD was born (DD will one on December 8). DMIL said she saw her about 2 weeks ago & she still hasn't lost her weight, so I think I'll request that I stand next to her ;) . I know I don't want to stand next to DH's youngest sister who is 18 & complained that her dress was a "4" & she usually wears a "0" or a "2" .

Well, I'm off to bed. Here's to lots & lots of new tags for all who desire them...

Hello all...remember me?

I hate I haven't been on in what seems like ages. But I was promoted at work two weeks ago and this new position is drowning me in work!!!

I know I've missed tons of stuff and I don't know when I'll be able to catch up. However I miss all my fellow Tagliarchians and look forward to sneaking back in with full force (no Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam...just full force...HA!)

In the mean time...

It doesn't amke sense that when you return from vacation, you need another just to reover!! So muxh going on. And I'd rather not think of shopping for Christmas!!

Anyway...
Depplyinluv I thought you had a colored tag?? Whats the scoop?

Rikku When is your next show??

deadheadbelle glad you found a dress. And you'll do fine with the strapless. I remember nursing and wearing one. Not too comfy but it will work.

Be good all and will try and stop by later.

.

Anybody seen the Tag Fairy in here lately? It's funny, now it seems so strange to type someone names and not use a color. We MUST have a poll to determine the Tag Fairy's favorite color!:bounce: TiggerFans - I know you love to do polls as much as I do. Does it take an official vote or something to get the go ahead?

Rikku - good to hear from you and congratulations on your promo! The last thing I remembered you saying before you disappeared is that there was a shake-up at work and then you were gone. I was worried. :( Glad it went your way. Speaking of congrats - when's that baby due?

llebrekniT - I am trying out a new pink shade. Since the color wheel hasn't yet been finalized, I thought I would play around with the pinks a little and I think I like this one. I was shopping at Gymboree yesterday and they have this new "line" in that is my favorite shade of pink and I thought "I really love this color, it makes me feel so happy, maybe I can find it and it can be my color at the Tagliarchy". (I obviously don't have enough to do or think about.) It is between a cotton candy pink and a bubble gum pink and this is the closest thing I could find to it at RRBB's color site. It's called light pink magenta and its' code is ff66cc. Ohanafamily, if your site has a better pink in that shade range, let me know. I bookmarked RRBB's site, but didn't do yours. BTW I will go check my PM's next.

I feel time slipping away from me and I start to panic and I can't hardly breathe. Thanksgiving is almost here, which means it's almost Ella's birthday, which means my little baby will be turning one already
239.gif
, which means our trip to WDW is gettingreallyclose, which means it's almost Christmas, which means the wedding my DD-6 will be the flower girl in Christmas weekend is almost here, which means New Years is right around the corner, which means it will be January soon, which means it will be my birthday, which means I will be 35 before you know it!

I can literally feel the gray hairs popping in all over the place.:( Do you ever feel like you shouldn't be sitting here on the Boards when you have so much to do?

Wah! Try being so close to 40 you can hardly breathe!!!!hehehe
When is your baby's bday? I have 3 b days this month. One on Thurs, my dd will be 16 on the 19th and my baby will be 4 on the 22!!! Two parties in the planning. My 3yrold will have hers at a gym for a gymnastics party, my soon to be 16 yr old is having 50-60 teens in my house-all at one time!!! ugh! I'm planning on putting out lots of food, drinds and putting on loud music. They should be ok?? Me on the other hand????

Wow!! I thought I had a busy November & December. I turn 32 on the 18th. DH turns 32 on the 29th, which means for 11 days I get to hear how old I am compared to him  . Have I mentioned that DH thinks he is a comedian. Well, it's my own fault. You know how they say when you grow up you will marry someone just like your father? Well, I did. Anyway, back to my busy schedule. DD is finally being baptised on November 23rd (I'm probably going to HELL for waiting so long). Next, of course, is Thanksgiving (2 dinners in one day, little nap time for DD). DD turns 1 on December 8 (haven't planned her birthday party yet). My dad's birthday is also the 8th (haven't bought him anything). DH is on vacation the 7th through the 16th & we don't have anything planned so he is going to be hanging around the house all week :hyper: ! Lord of the Rings comes out on the 17th of December & I have to see it right away. Last year I went into labor the week before "The Two Towers" opened & never got a chance to see it in the theaters so I had to wait until the DVD came out this past August. Let's see, then comes Christmas Eve at my parent's house, Christmas morning at home & Christmas afternoon at DMIL's house. Somewhere along the way DFIL will fly in from his home in St. Thomas, VI (but we don't know when, nor do we know where he will be staying...maybe with us?). Day after Christmas: rehearsal dinner. December 27th: DSIL's humongous wedding. I just want New Year's Day to arrive so I can sit on the couch, eat appetizer food all day, drink beer & watch football...

Good morning... anyone want some bagels from breakfast, cream cheese and coffee... i'll serve

DS12 is closing in on finishing his Constitution project , so I am almost done with project homework witching for the week and DS10 is Troop shopping, we are going to visit another troop this evening.

and work is still very tense

But happy Wednesday...

Cheeringmom Ella's big day is the 12th of Dec.
fest43.gif
We fly out
1058.gif
to WDW at 6:00pm on the 11th, so our first morning at WDW is her birthday. Right now I have 2 PS for her birthday breakfast, one at Cindy's Royal Table and one at Crystal Palace. I can't decide which to do. I also have a PS at Cindy's the next morning. The first day I called, they didn't have any tables left that would seat 5, so I took a 4 seater and bumped out my DS-11 who had just recently said "Mama, if there's going to be anymore meals where princesses are involved, I'd just as soon not go." So if we go to that one, he can ride Buzz until his fingers fall off. However, I do know that he would really rather celebrate his baby sisters birthday than to be off on his own as he is not very independent, so for that reason I'm leaning toward breakfast at Crystal Palace. Plus Ella really loves Pooh and Tigger and she doesn't really give a hoot about the princesses yet. The problem with the CP PS is it is at 8:30 am. That means on our first day after not checking in until probably about 9:30pm (with a baby who's always in bed by about 9:00) we would have to get up, get ready and hot-foot it to the parks right away. We are staying at GF, so at least we have that advantage.

Anyway, that's more than you needed to know I'm sure. 50 - 60 teenagers? Sounds like a party!

Wow, so much happened, so many responses... Pardon my lack of color in this post, but I am rushing to get into work, and RRBB is sleeping, so I am not getting the finger shook at me that I don't have time to play on the boards...

1. when the color wheel is "Finalized" I will post it up on my "Testing" website, so all you will have to do is open up a browser window to it, highlight the name, do a ctrl-c, and switch back to the post and do a ctrl-v. I hope this is OK with everyone; it will be much easier to update this way, and since RRBB is not a Secretary, it will fall on me and Nephosaurus to keep updated.....

2. Yes, I would love a Bagel and Cream Cheese; can I get it to go?

3. llebrekniT and deadheadbelle, I work retail, so sometime around Thanksgiving I am no where to be found until x-mas eve.

4. Satine, does your Rufus talk, Mine does (can you feel the testosterone building...My Rufus is better than yours (something about 'cause he eats Kenn'l Ration)

5. Rikku, congratulations...

6. llebrekniT, here is the other site. what I like about this one better than the one Robin found is that the color names can be used instead of the three hexadecimal octet word (that 6 letter funny number) All you have to do is take out the spaces.....but deeppink is good...
http://autopedia.com/html/ColorCalculator.html?o=0

7. cheeringmom, Depplyinluv oopsed and tried to change her tag.....

8. deadheadbelle, I know you will look fantastic at the wedding, and Nephosaurus says that he can understand that you don't want to make your youngest DSIL look bad... Enjoy these times of your life, they are the ones you will remember most fondly- after you get over the embarrassment. anonymous

I am late for work, gotta scoot.....
