Hey everybody!Geffric - I can't believe you asked me about whether I'm wearing a patch and then posted this guy because I actually went rummaging through DS room looking for the pirate patch he used to have a long, long time ago. My eye feels best when it is closed, so I thought "I'm just going to wear that thing if I can find it." Anyway, it doesn't seem to be hurting as often or as much. I've been resting it and I found some really old prescription eye drops that expired in 2000 but I think they're helping. It's really blood shot and gross looking, but I'm hoping it'll just go away.

So, nobody here has an accent. Interesting............

Glad to see Rick pop back in if only for a moment. What about Rikku ? Anyone heard from him? And where in the Sam Hill is Courtisan Satine ? She has really let her bumping duties slide. I got a new box of Kim Possible Pop-Tarts, maybe I'll toast one and see if she comes a runnin'. (Sorry, my accent is popping in and out.) Does anyone know the number to her pager?

Hehehe... I've been lurking, but the "do you have an accent" question made me want to post. It reminded me of a girl I knew when studying abroad in London during sophomore year. She's from the Bronx, but has Irish and American citizenship; her dad's from Ireland and still has a lot of family there. At one point during the semester we had a discussion about accents -- obviously an issue for any American in London. Anyway, she told me that when her Irish family members imitated her accent, they would talk like stereotypical Texas cowboys. She told them, "I don' tawk like dat" (in Bronxese) but they wouldn't listen and insisted she sounded like a cowboy. It was funny that they couldn't hear the difference.

(As for me, a lot of people I met in college on the East Cost thought I do not have an accent. I'm originally from corn country in NW Ohio.)

as for the accents: i say everything in perfect, clear english. no accent what so ever. the only thing is i say wicked occasioanly...hey im from new england!

but i really dont have an accent, sometimes i have a lisp b/c of my braces but....

Hi everyone!

I had to chime in about the accent question. As I've said before, both of my parents were born and raised in Massachusetts, but they do not have the typical Boston accent. My family moved to SC shortly after I was born, so I grew up and have since always lived in the South (GA and TN). Therefore, like a lot of you, I don't have a definite accent. But it does seem to change depending on the situation, who I'm around, etc. For example, my partner started laughing at me recently when we were at a very country BBQ restaurant and I ordered a side salad with "rayanch" dressing. Of course, I think he's just making it up (he does have a southern accent).

Rick, thanks for the link to the Disney career site. Actually, I've been checking it constantly for the past few months, along with Monster, Careerbuilder and several websites of the larger employers in the area. I wish I knew how to break in there. I promise to give free park passes to anyone who can help!!!

Laura, welcome to the Tagliarchy! I've enjoyed your comments over on the Dark Side...I mean Debate Board. It's good to see you on a thread where we're both not actually banging our heads against a brick wall.

Ohanafamily, I also neglected to welcome you back and tell you that I'm glad you're feeling better and had a great time. I haven't had a chance to read your trip report just yet but I'm really looking forward to it. I had the opportunity to visit California Adventure shortly after it opened because I was in Anaheim for a user's conference. Because it was still pretty new, there were several attractions that were not yet open, but I did really enjoy Soaring and the roller coaster with the Mickey in the loop (can't remember the name). Also, I thought it was a beautifully designed park. It was fun just to walk around and enjoy the scenery.

Also, welcome to FPgurl04 and congrats to geffric on the new tags! (geffric, I made sure to put your name in the color of "chocolate" ).

TinkBackwards, I hope you don't mind me using your names-in-different-colors idea.

Me too. I grew up in Texas but don't really have an accent. When I was in high school I went to a camp in Wisconsin one summer with kids from all over the US, Canada, and England. I actually had someone tell me that I wasn't from Texas but from New York. Like I didn't know where I was from. Does saying "Y'all" all the time count as an accent?

Today as I was driving my DD-6 to school, I saw the sun peeking up over the horizon! We haven't had sun in a few days here, it really makes a difference in the day.

I'm still tired from the breakfast I cooked up yesterday, who's bringing food today? I could go for a McGriddle with bacon and egg only, no cheese. Those things are strangely yummy, but the cheese doesn't make any sense with all the maple flavor.

Huggabaloo, please feel free to use all the color you want. I thought it would be helpful for others to see when I am addressing them. Sometimes all I have time to do is scan the posts to see if anyone needs a blast from my tommie-gun.

RRBB, you live in Texas, but you don't have an accent? Ok, sure. I hear Ohanafamily doesn't have one either. Hmmmmmm. This may be the only thread in the DIS where no one has an accent. I mean if someone can live in NY or Texas and escape an accent, anybody can.

My eye - I don't know what to think about it. It 's not as painful as yesterday, more like it aches. Yesterday it felt like I was being stabbed in the eye, today it's more like I've been stabbed in the eye. I guess it's improving. It's fading from bright bloody red to a nice shade of pink. Not that pink, we need a prettier, paler pink in our color choices. I think I will continue with these prescription eye drops that expired 3 years ago. They were from when my DD had pink eye about 4 years ago.

I have internet shopped all week, today I feel the need to hit the mall! Our Disney store just re-opened after a remodeling and it was soooooo crowded last weekend, you could barely get through it. They actually have waiting line things like at the park for the checkout.

As far as our interventions for Huggabaloo on the Dark side...Welcome to a much cheerier place FPgurl04 We are drawn to laughter and love. Hate leads to the dark side...That being said, I am the sadistic SOB that started the thread about should Gay people be allowed to be legally married...I thought it would be fun for an emotionally charged topic...I still have to laugh at the hatred the people on the dark side share as a common ground. llebrekniT, If you are going out shopping you might drop by a drug store and ask a pharmacist; a lot of times old medications that were prescribed for different problems can do more harm than Good. If you don't want to see an eye doctor, then a Pharmacist can steer you to something over the counter. Also, you and RRBB need to stay away from QVC online; I might need an intervention (OK Robin, I was kidding; you spend as much time on QVC as you want, just promise me a kiss when I get home!!!)

Lastly, OK, when I go to NY, or London (or even the deep south) where an accent is the norm, I guess I do have an accent; a no accent accent.
