The Never Ending Pre-Trip Report Nov. 11 and New Year's '12!!! - TR LINK! 1/15 Pg33

Well, I was 5... hahaha so I don't really remember much. I do remember having a rootbeer float with my dad under a big red and yellow umbrella. I wasn't all that into the characters or rides so it's a fairly underwhelming first memory.

Cute shirts!!

Hmmm, I don't really remember too much about my first Disney trip...I remember being upset because my sister got to be pushed in a stroller, while I had to walk (I was 7, she was 3). I remember waiting in line for Dumbo forever and then Dumbo being like, a 2 second ride. I remember being terrified of the hitchhiking ghosts in HM. Just random flashes of that trip, I wish I remember more! :confused3

It's awful to think my first Disney memory was only two weeks before I turned 14, but I think it's a tie between The Castle/Sanaa/Space Mountain, because they all were firsts over the first days (two days, one in parks, one not). I mean, nothing beats the first time seeing the Castle, even though it is amazing every time, that first time is so memorable. Sanaa was my first meal in Disney and has become my favorite Disney restaurant. Space Mountain was my first roller coaster EVER since my scarring childhood experience, so it was revolutionary and I think it's turned me into an adrenaline junky. So yeah, those are my first memories of Disney. (:

Hey, there's nothing wrong with your first memory being at an older age. Remember, this is Farrell's first trip, so her first memory will be at the age of 29!

Those are some great memories though! It's funny how the first things we experience at Disney sometimes dictate what we love there. The Haunted Mansion was one of my firsts there, and has been my favorite ever since.

cute shirts!!! My mom and dad went to our new Disney store near Cincinnati and loved it! She said it was mainly kid based with very little for adults but if you have little ones, it's heaven!!

My first Disney memory was when we stayed at POFQ when I was 7. Every night when we got back, my mom would stay with my sleeping brother and my dad and I would go to the food court and get a cookie and milk. We'd take it outside and sit at a table by the pool. I know that has nothing to to do with the parks but it was at WDW lol. My mom said that we went too many times to have lasting memories at the parks at an early age lol. It could be true! We do have pics to show for all of the times lol.

That's an awesome memory! How cool that you had cookies and milk every night at the resort.

Our first resort stay was at the Disney Inn (which you now know is Shades of Green). My mom bought me a puzzle on vacation and I remember putting that puzzle together every morning on our patio. :cloud9:

There is no underwhelming first Disney memory! If it sticks in your head, it was clearly important. :cutie:

That's too funny about the stroller. We had a stroller the first time that I went because I was 4. Apparently I didn't use it, but Chris my oldest brother who was 10 was complaining about not being able to ride in it. :rotfl:

I remember lines feeling like they took forever too. Kids concept of time is so funny.

My first Disney memory is of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. I was really really young - 2 or 3. My dad was in the habit of putting me up on his shoulders a lot of the time (i was a skinny little thing), and he put me up on his shoulders to watch the fireworks at park closing (I believe this was 1981).

I loved loved loved Disney and went all day without a stroller, he put me up on his shoulders for fireworks, and I guess I fell asleep. My memory is of waking up with my head on his shoulder - I remember I picked my head up as we walked up the monorail ramp, looked behind us, and I could see the HORDES of people behind us, leaving the park. It's probably one of the most peaceful memories I have, leaving a place I loved and in the arms of my dad, who had a job that made it so he couldn't be around too much.

Funny enough, my very FIRST memory is of a Mickey Mouse punching bag (one of those you blow up and then punch, and they fall down) and another Mickey toy that's hard to explain. I was probably around 1 year old, according to my mom.

That is such a great memory to have! :cloud9:

My dad had one of those jobs too, so I understand the feeling.

Yeah, it IS a great memory! I have a ton of memories from my first trips.

But WOW, you're leaving soon! Bet you're stoked! You guys have some great plans for your trip so far.

Love the shirts! Kermit is so cute!!

My first Disney memory was my dad pulling into the parking lot so we could see the castle....:sad2: Two years later we return and actually enter the park! I fell in love with Epcot and I was only 12! (side note so my dad doesn't look bad...I don't think I knew what I was really missing so I just thought, "Oh cool"! :lmao:)

I am excited! I just can't wait for the time to pass. Fortunately (I guess) I have some busy weeks of work ahead of me, so that should make the time go by fast.

:lmao: That's pretty funny, I have to say. That was obviously before you had to start paying for parking.

Epcot was one of my favorites too! I used to love going there back in the day. You know, with the original Imagination, World of Motion, Horizons. *sigh* *singing* Memories......light the corners of my mind.......:rotfl:

Your ticker looks gooooood! Wow, just think -- when I get back I'll be doing the single digit dance with you!

You're getting closer! Aren't you glad you have business at work to keep you occupied?? :)

I am very happy about that. Never thought I would say that.

I know! You guys are going to have so much fun! I'm kinda jealous it's not me that's leaving in a day, but I'll make it through these next couple weeks. :rotfl:

Hello humans!!!!

2 WEEKS!!!!

Today marks the two week point before we depart. I can't wait to get outta Dodge!!!!

Had a little bit of fun this week. We're working on a big project at work and have had many visitors from our home office. This week, we decided to take some of them to a Cubs game. Gotta love my Cubbies! I know they're not the greatest team, and that the world will likely end before they win the World Series, but I'm okay with that. Plus, Wrigley is a pretty great place if you ask me.

We had really good seats for the game.

If you can tell, we were right by the Cubs dugout, so we got to see the relief pitchers warm up.

We also have great statues around Wrigley of some of the most influential ball players or personalities that have graced Wrigley Field. Here's one that I got of Ron Santo.

Sadly, I couldn't find Harry Carey because of the crowds crushing in around me.

Just so no one is in suspense, true to form, the Cubs did lose. Gotta love 'em!

Yesterday I interviewed for a Project Management position at my current workplace. Hopefully I should be finding out soon if I have the position. I'm very very hopeful. ;)

I have decided on making a few changes in our itinerary. It's for the best I think. After I got everything set with La Nouba, the Fireworks Dessert Party, etc., I looked at our schedule again. I thought it was a little bit tight, and I didn't want it to be, so I'm not going to be adding the Dining Plan onto the first day at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Which means that Via Napoli will probably be a no go. :scared1:

I know sad. But I think it's best. I really want to experience the Food and Wine Festival, but I also don't want to be at Epcot ALL the time. However, for the time being I'm going to keep Via Napoli. I figure it's a good backup reservation in case anything comes up. And worst case, if we want to we can pay OOP. No biggie. ;)

Ordered some new sunscreen. My SIL introduced me to Blue Lizard, which is like the best sunscreen on the planet for protection. I always need good protection, so I figured I would order it. It's supposed to last a really long time too, so you don't need to apply over and over again. It's expensive, so dangit, the stuff better work!!! :lmao:

This weekend I'm hoping to start packing. No, scratch that, I'm ITCHING to start packing. I love packing. :lovestruc

Tomorrow, we're supposed to have a Chicago Segway tour. Cross your fingers for me, because it's supposed to storm tomorrow and we may have to reschedule. Let's hope we don't have to do that.

TTFN!

Good luck with the position you interviewed for! :goodvibes

Our trips are getting so close! :woohoo:

Joining your PTR - read everything and looking forward to the TR upon your return. Looks like a great schedule. Nothing like going to WDW with someone who's never been - it brings the original Magic back in some ways. :cheer2:

Read you soon! :surfweb:

Last night the whole city of Milwaukee was cheering for your Cubbies. So thanks for beating the Cardinals. Can't believe the Packers won the Super Bowl and now the Brewers are NL Central Champions!

YAY for 2 weeks!

I'm really glad that I'm able to experience WDW with someone who has never been there before. I think you hit the nail right on the head. I want to experience the magic of someone's first visit again. :wizard:

 I never thought that I would hear about a Brewers fan cheering for the Cubs. Glad we could assist in some way. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Brewers, since I know for sure that the Cubs aren't going anywhere. :lmao:

Hi :) I got your PM today!! I'll take a look at your schedule with mine and let you know! At this point, weekends are good for me. I have a Waterpark pass and often go to TL on Sat and sometimes Sun too! AK is the closest park to my apt which is on your weekend schedule too. I'm under the weather right now but I'll let you know asap :)

You know, I took DBF for his first trip last year and got SICK, so it was unfortunate that I didn't really get to feel the "first trip to Disney" magic. Sure, it was a ton of fun seeing what he liked (HM), loved (Splash and ToT), and disliked (IASW!), but I will definitely enjoy our next trip together a lot more - as long as I can stay healthy. We also have some other plans this next time, now that he knows what he likes most and where we both had the most fun. The first trip was very good, but I think the second could be FANTASTIC!

I'm already loading up on the vitamin C and exercising regularly, trying to get prepared to face the germs of WDW.

We'll figure something out, I'm sure. I know you have work during the week, so weekends probably are the best overall.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. :( I saw your facebook post about your stomach. That's the worst!

Oh no, getting sick at WDW is absolutely the worst thing! I've been sick in WDW and in Disneyland before, so I can empathize with that! I'm trying to do everything I can to stay well too. Our weather here has been kind of back and forth already (as you well know). I'm just hoping nothing makes me sick.
